Dude, where was this, my band Jane Doe opened for him in 1993 in the midwest. He was so cool. His whole band talked with us and gave the lowdown on Gary. Gary said he liked our songs and asked me to record in his studio! I miss those crazy days and the likes of Gary, we will never see anyone like him again
Gary blows away REO's current guitarist (who is good, but he is no Gary). All the big REO hits are Gary's guitar creations. He's like a Neal Schon... without his wicked licks, Journey may have never had all those hits. Same with Gary. Whatever happened to split him from the band is bullshit.
Richrath is a HERO! A True inspiration to me and the way I play as well! One of the reasons I started playing guitar! F*ck Kevin Cronin! Gary Richrath was REO! Thanks for everything Gary - YOU ROCK!
Some of REO's best, true ROCK songs were written by Gary, not Kevin Cronin! It's a shame that Gary felt he couldn't stay with REO and left. He made that band great during their hey-day!
@Liligal1 I'M SORRY, BUT YOU GOT IT WRONG PAL!!! Gary didn"t leave like we were all lead to believe 22 yrs ago. Cronin had Gary kicked out!!! REO was so much more fun before Cronin F*CKED it all up & kicked out Gary.
"NO BODY PLAY GUITAR LIKE GARY" Thank you very much for this wonderful video!!! so many years of not seeing Gary!!! because always I have listened to his legacy that he leave in the albums that he record with REO Speedwagon!!!!!!!by the way his album Only The Strong Survive of 1992 is very good!!! I think that Gary should be continued his career as musician because he is and ever be and forever will be, the best lead guitar!!!!!!!, i can listen in my life!!!!!!
Thanks for posting...this guy was the reason I went and bought my first wah wah pedal. He was one of the biggest influences on my guitar playing and I'm blessed to play around Nashville with some big players.
What a night ! I think Gary had as much fun as we all did !! Hack I have the sound-check and Derrick St.Holmes gettin pissed about my camera being pointed in his direction He pissed me off ! I had to take the camera out of the club till he was finished playin! He was soon forgivin!!! Ron
Holy shit! I have been waiting to see something with Gary doing his thing as many of us old fossils grew up enjoying! Sorry, but Dave really falls short of Gary's talent even though Dave plays his heart out for us. I seen REO back in 1978 and it was a treat. GARY!! Get your ass back in action while us old fans can still enjoy! Would love to see some more vids of Gary playing Golden Country one of my all time favs. Thank You to TheHack64 for posting these vids, moooooore please!!
I grew up with REO as one of my favorite bands in the early 80's. I idolized Gary. I remember when this band played the local bar around 89 or 90. I went to soundcheck and was crushed at how much of a drunk idiot Gary had turned into. Not to mention the band sucked.
What happened to the vid here?

REO without Gary is akin to a Zeppelin reunion minus Jimmy Page. Just a sad tribute band fronted by Kevin Cronin.
fotogod63 1 year ago
Kevin is and always has been an attention whore. REO cannot and never will be "The" REO Speedwagon without Gary Richrath. PERIOD.

Just my opinion, but Gary was a vital part of REO, and it is just not the same without him.
