I think the most powerful aspect of Rush is their ability to create an emotion packed song while humbly acting as mere messengers, stating only the facts leaving you to decide how to feel.
Manhattan Project, Subdivisions and Farewell to Kings etc manage to tell stories about war, growing up, or politics without cramming an opinion down your throat.

@97iliketrains If you're talking about Nagasaki and Hiroshima they had it coming, it was the only way to end the war without even worse rivers of blood.
@karlmoles65.... Schoolars have pointed out that there were various alternatives to ending the war....The atomic bombings of Nagasaki and Hiroshama were clearly just an extention of the already fierce bombing campaigns....not to mention it was illegal under the rules of positive international law....all those women and children....????? Ya they had it coming to them.....lol.....and im sure the members of RUSH would agree....
@spearce301 That was the only alternative that would have worked in the real world. And all those women and children? LOTS MORE would have died in an invasion. The Japanese government was teaching them to use bamboo spears to fight the invaders with. It would have been an unimaginable bloodbath and the bombs mercifully stopped it. You've been drinking the kool aid a bot too much methinks.
Is it bad to have played this song the day the Japanese natural disasters earlier this year? Its the only time the song fits to Japan and nuclear mentioning.
Grace Under Pressure and Power Windows are so underrated! In fact, I'd say that those two albums have the most meaningful lyrics Neil Peart has ever wrote. Not to say the others don't have meaningful lyrics, I just think Grace Under Pressure and Power Windows have some of the best.
Do not let an uplifting, hopeful chord progression confuse you into thinking Peart is a fan of nuclear weapons. If anything, I think the true spirit of the song lies in the lines "The hopeful depend on a world without end/Whatever the hopeless may say". To me this song signifies hope that human civilized empathy will prevail over the tribal urge for domination. The "change" was that when this weapon was developed, those in power had to rethink the implications of their will to dominate.
Sorry...missed a major point here: Neil doesn't think that the nuclear warhead is the best thing that has ever happened to warfare. Sorry for the erroneous post :) I believe he is totally anti-war. Just based my opinion on things I've read about him and his opinions on such things.
I think some of you missed the point: Neil was not saying that the best thing to ever happen to the human race was the nuclear warhead. He has been and I'm guessing, will always be. I'm not flaming on anyone here...just posting my opinion. I guess it's kind of akin to Sting's song "Russians". :)

Ok People, this song deals with the "Manhattan Project" during World War 2...the development of Fat Man and Little Boy. In other words, the beginning of the nuclear age, nothing more, nothing less. STOP OVER ANALYSING THE SONG AND ITS LYRICS!!!
@MrAcarine - you are kidding right??? Listen to/ read the lyrics to the song and SERIOUSLY re-think your post. Do you even know what the "Manhattan Project" was during World War 2? I am gonna go with no because if you did, you wouldn't have posted that comment.
There was no reason the bomb couldn't have been used on a military target instead of a civilian population. Japan's civilian leadership wanted a conditional surrender and if the Americans granted it,Hirohito would almost certainly have ordered a surrender,as he did after the bomb. The Strategic Bombing Survey insisted--I don't know if it is true--that Japan probably would have surrendered by the invasion date.

@Bern938 The lyrics as I quoted them, are exactly as printed on the original CD liner notes - I could arrange to have them scanned and post the image for you, if you don't believe me. And BTW, being Canadian myself, I have no problem with Geddy's accent.
@Bern938 Not sure what I'm supposed to "agree or disagree" with - there is no "statement" there, just an interpretation based on misheard or misunderstood lyrics. You're welcome to believe what you think you hear... doesn't make it accurate.
Hold me closer, Tony Danza, and 'scuse me while I kiss this guy, cuz there's a bathroom on the right.
@Bern938 Ummm... you completely misquoted two previous lines, and somehow insinuated a "son" from "sun", and then came up with some cockamamie analysis of the INCORRECT lyrics. I merely pointed out that you had the lyrics wrong... you then felt it necessary to attempt to back up your misunderstanding, and failed again.
Admit that you heard it wrong, and move on.
"Big old hairy vagina, don't tell me you ain't gotta shave..." - Steve Miller.
I just noticed a couple of crappy Van Halen songs in the 'suggested/similar' collumn and vomited into my mouth a little...that's some form of blasphemy, I'm sure
@midgetdrunkman bullshit, man, glee would never do a rush episode. But in the unlikely case that this is true, we need to activate the fucking defcon man!!!!
@midgetdrunkman Maybe Big Time Rush? Christ if they make an episode with Rush on their, I will kill every one of them motherfuckers. Leave our boys alone gay ass t.v. shit!!!
So... your plan is to get enough people on Youtube to oppose this that Glee just has to stop? How do you expect this to work? Even if TV networks responded to public opinion, they would only make decisions to keep ratings up. Nobody would start watching Glee if they leave Rush alone, and nobody would stop watching if they cover Rush. You can't influence Glee, Vevo, or anything else by spamming on Youtube. Stop pretending to matter.
Pretty cynical comment when someone is just expressing an opinion. Of course TV networks only care about ratings, tell us something we didn't already know. Stop pretending to know what you're talking about!
@midgetdrunkman you would rather people didnt give this amazing band recognition and publicity? as long as they praise them in some sort of way instead of bash them, i say do it.
@midgetdrunkman well i dont like that, but think in the good side, many kid will hear rush and they will say: man, this is awesome, they will start to hear more rush, and then yes, elp king crimson, and "tha dah" we have progressive kids
@midgetdrunkman Why would you be upset about that? The people who watch Glee NEED Rush.....wouldn't it be nice for kids to be turned on to brilliant music???? Instead of s**t like Lady Fu****g Gaga????
I disagree actually. They pulled off KISS quite nicely in one episode. I highly doubt they could do Rush, but they are still a touch above "Lady Gaga bullshit"
@crazypenny94 Sorry I maintain that the exposure would be a good thing. Even if a kid hears a crappily-done version of a song which strikes him and resonates with him, he (or she) will do the research and find the real deal.
@midgetdrunkman In order to stop this tragedy from happening, I say we gotta bring in the Trailer Park Boys. YouTube: Trailer Park Boys - Ricky Kidnaps Alex Lifeson
The last Rush song I had to hear before hearing them all, and my absolute favorite. I just listened three days ago, and it's in all of my dreams, in my head when I wake up, and serves as an amazing informational tool for the History Bowl. xD Though, every new Rush song I hear/discover becomes my favorite, so what does that say?
RUSH's lyrics are not constructed for those "disconnected" with not one iota of history. I was born in '59 and my Dad was in WWII. Go listen to Lady Ga Ga.
Any of you who doubt BeyondNeptune need to watch the documentry "Ring Of Power" and really see how this shithole ticks. You all think you have rights and are free....your all economic slaves. Slaves to money. Ask yourselves this...why should I have to pay money to exist?. And if I dont have money what happens to my existense? We have no choice, therefore we are slaves.
I've always been a fan of RUSH.....I'm also a singer song writer a style some what different to hard rock but still like to think that my musicianship has been influneced by RUSH's music!!! If anyone is interested in having a listen, visit world wide web myspace dot com forward slash darrencinque
It's funny how the mind works. I was watching the news, and an unrelated story, and I heard the phrase "where it all began". It immediately made me think of this song and have to hear it. It happens a lot when I hear that phrase.
This was the first Rush song I properly sat back and listened to. At the time I thought it was a cool song, nothing more.
18 months, Moving Pictures and 2112 later, I'm revisiting it now, and I really, truly get it. It's emotional. And it might just be my favourite Rush song, and one of my favourite songs full stop.
This song takes me right back to 1985, I was 18 and had just arrived in San Diego for Navy bootcamp. After I graduated I bought this album and this song reminds me of Jack Murphy Stadium, the Sports Arena, downtown, etc. lol. I saw Rush live that year at the Sports Arena. The "Thompson Twins" (remember them?) opened up for them. This track was excellent live!
I find it amazing that Einstein was mad and upset at himself for discovering the atomic bomb. he knew the monster he created. At least we learned with Russia during the cold war that there is no point in nuclear war. nobody wins
@ATY9Productions your ideas are warped. The filthy jews in the Manhattan project gave the nuclear bomb to russia, because 99% of the jews in the U.S. were fucking communists.
Oppenheimer was a communist and he gave away the nuclear bomb. there were perhaps 50 traitors on the Manhattan project and all of them were jews.
Einstein, ironically, was clueless. He was not even CLOSE to the genius people claim him to be. He was just a tool, and a fraud.
@BeyondNeptune but there were dozens and dozens who should have been hanged. Or better yet..never allowed to be in the U.S. We should have let Hitler killed them
@BeyondNeptune You got some big balls for sharing the TRUTH on here man. I was surprised to read that there are others who know what really happened. I commend you for your intelligent way of "thinking outside the box" and not buying into the propaganda history books. These people that flame you actually beleive CNN and FOX tell them the truth and that their Govmnts are good and working for your better interests. Mass brainwashing at its finest. Peace to you.
So many fools complain about America being evil, our goodness is why we had the bomb first and not Hitler. The radical Muslims hate us because of our rightousness. This is why the Nazis hated the Jews,Jealousy.
@seanqwertybob; People from Germany are correctly referred to as germans. "Japs" and "Krauts" are disparaging slang words U.S. servicemen used to refer to their WW2 enemies. Your statement that removing the individual element of war degrades the names of every person that died during WW2 makes absolutely no sense at all. Has it ever ocurred to you, that had America lost WW2, theres a very good chance that you or I would have not been born. You truly are not seeing the forest for the trees.
@Hawk44Gent im not devaluing the significance of allied victory in WW2, however whether or not i would have been born in insignificant considering how small the chances of my conception were in the first place. Also, i can hardly place such importance on my own life, especially due to the magnitude of this subject matter. Cherish life my friend. :)
@seanqwertybob; Too bad you weren't here during the 1930s to wag your finger at the Germans and Japanese to tell them not to quantify nor debase human life. You say there is no need for anyone here to take this debate so seriously. Theres no need for you to tell anyone here what they should or shouldn't take seriously. Its their decision. WW2 was the most important event of the 20th Century. The freedom of the entire world was at stake. Reducing it to a punch in the nose is just ignorant.
@Hawk44Gent wow chill... jeez. I was just expressing an opinion, i wasn't issuing an order or an ultimatum. I merely identified the fact that you shouldn't insist on some sort of vengence. Also, the tone of your arguement can hardly be called serious when you use terms like: the Japs and the Germans, as if they were football teams. When you remove the individual element of war you degrade the names of every man, woman and child who died during WW2.
Rush is my favorite band, and this was the first Rush Album I ever owned. Between the time this album and Hold your Fire came out I had purchased every Rush record (er, um cassette) they had ever released. This was the song that made me buy this album and introduced me to a band that would change my life forever.
"The pilot of Enola Gay flying out of the shockwave on that August day"...I still get chills when I hear this line. Rush Forever...
@beerjitsu Yeah, you hit the nail on the head with a sledge hammer. I get chills and huge lump in my throat as much today, literally, as I did the first time I heard that line. Makes it really hard to sing that part.
@Skymer45: Your argument is illogical and not worthy of further comment. I will just say this: If Truman had decided not to deploy the bombs and invade mainland Japan, what do you think the reaction would have been from America's citizens when it became known that Truman had a device that would have ended the war immediately, but decided not to use it?? People would have been extremely pissed off. Imagine the families that might lose a son or lose another son, had the U.S. invaded Japan.
@Hawk44Gent i think the significance of this arguement is nullified now. Human life should never be quantified or debased, but in the same vain, it was necessary to act in order to prevent further losses. However there is no need for anyone here to take this debate so seriously, and the whole "Isn't that kind of gutless?" arguement is sickening when put into the context of human life. The "you punched me so i punched you back" mentality of your view is incredibly insensitive and cynicle.
@Hawk44Gent I heard that Truman used the bomb because invading mainland Japan would take time, effort, and many US soldier lives, while using the bomb would probably cause the immediate surrender of the Japanese, which it did after the two atomic bombs were dropped. Is that right or close to the point?
@Skymer45; As I have said before: The Japanese attacked us. That attack forced us to respond. The resulting war between Japan and the United States was their doing, not ours. The Japanese were asked to surrender with The Potsdam Declaration. They refused. To force them to cease hostilities, the U.S. deployed the bombs. If Truman had decided to invade Japan's mainland instead to end the war, 1.5 Million innocent Japanese would have died instead of 300,000, PLUS 500,000 U.S. service men deaths.
@Hawk44Gent well if the U.S had decided to invade mainland Japan and slaughter the citizens and not just the Army personnel, that would've been 1.5 million civilian deaths on their hands the could've been prevented.
Not to mention those bombings triggered and era of instability and uncertain anxiety with the Cold War.
There's actually evidence that shows that the Japanese were willing to sacrifice their civilians, including children, to destroy American vehicles and squads. It not only would have been a bloodbath for every American who stepped onto Japanese soil, but also almost any civilians who believed the propaganda. Had the emperor of Japan been killed before signing a peace treaty, it is unlikely that the Japanese would have stopped fighting.
@enimuetheanimator; You believe the U.S should have done nothing after the Japanese attacked Pearl Harbor. Isn't that kind of gutless? Doing nothing? Really? How about checking with the 2,500 families that lost loved ones in the attack and the families of the 700 service men that were tortured and killed in the Bataan Death March. Do you really think we were proud of the awful things we were forced to do during WW2? What kind of postwar world would we have had if the Axis had won? Think it over
It's a shame that anyone had to die like that, but the Japanese being a proud people had warning that it was coming and did nothing, all I can say is they gave us no warning before bombing Pearl. TOUCHE
@tricky159 Bollocks. The Bomb (plutonium) tested succesfully July 16, 1945 in New Mexico. The Allies issued the Potsdam Declaration to the Japanese July 27, 1945, demanding immediate and unconditional surrender. If they refuse to do so, it will result in their military's "complete destruction" and the "utter devestation" of their homeland. After 11 days of silence, the 1st bomb (uranium) was used. After 3 more days of silence, the 2nd bomb (plutonium) was used. Got it? Re read your history.
@vinnykster Yes, thats been a huge controversy for decades. If its true that FDR knew in advance the Japanese were gonna strike Pearl Harbor, that would really suck. IMO, FDR didn't know in advance. As for the NeoCons, their entire agenda is to invade countries with huge crude oil reserves to position the U.S geo-politically, so our oil based economy can go on for 100 more years. The NeoCons have powerful, insanely rich political allies in Big Oil, Big Pharma, Big Corn and Big PetroChem firms.
@Armando2012102; Indeed. The whole war was barbaric. However, the Japanese civilions killed and maimed in Hiroshima and Nagasaki was unavoidable. If the U.S. had invaded the Japanese mainland rather than using the Bombs, it would have been peasants that the Japanese leaders would have sacrificed, as many as 1.5 million, because by August, 1945, the Japanese military had very few soldiers left. If your enemies are barbaric and want to destroy your way of life, then you too, must be barbaric.
@deadheroesclub1; The Germans murdered 6 million Jews. The Japanese murdered 6 million Burmese during WW 2 plus 2,500 Americans in their sneak attack on Pearl Harbor. Do you really think the Germans and the Japanese, who were Hell bent on world domination, were going to stop just because the Allies asked them to? Do you have even the slightest grasp of the evil, vicious mindset of the German and Japanese leaders at that time? Where was THEIR morality? You really need to read alot more history.
@Hawk44Gent You do know that it's been declassified that FDR KNEW about the Japanese wanting to attack Pearl Harbor.True there are tyrants all throughout history leading up to now What. I find puzzling and disturbing is that the neo-cons never seem to question our Govt that to this day props up tyrants and is in entangling alliances with them.. The founders warned us. We must listen!
Peace, Commerce and Honest Friendship with all nations- ENTANGLING ALLIANCES WITH NONE- Thomas Jefferson.
@Hawk44Gent I just came along here looking to hear a Rush song - I am startled at what I read here. Dropping such a bomb on innocent children is wrong, no matter waht the provocation or political background. There are no 'Jap' or 'American' lives there are only human lives. When morality is sacrificed on the altar of nation, when you actively accept the death of children as a political or military fall out you have lost your humanity. Plain and Simple.
@TheAnonymouz: After we dropped that first bomb on Hiroshima, the Japanese refused to surrender even after Truman gave them every opportunity. The 2nd bomb deployed on Nagasaki 3 days later was absolutely necessary to end the war and avoid an invasion of Japan that would have cost 500,000 American and 1.5 million Japanese lives. The whole idea behind using the A-Bombs was to end the war immediately without a further massive loss of lives that an invasion certainly would have caused.
@Hawk44Gent: Absolutely right. The stubborn Japanese would not surrender after the 1st Bomb, even after Truman offered them an honorable surrender.
HOWEVER, it was also a dark chapter in U.S. history. There's no honor, military or otherwise, in targeting the enemy's population. Civilians as collateral damage from a nearby fight is understandable, but the annihilation of 100,000 non-combatants, mostly peasant women and children, is just barbaric.
@Hawk44Gent Bollocks there was no need to drop that second bomb ,it was just a test of the uranium device , if a completly new wepon had destroyed a U.S. city would it have taken 3 days to evalulate just what had killed those people I dont think so,Japan at that time had no air defence so why could not a message be sent that implied that if surrender was not forthcoming another city would die within 2 weeks,Nagasaki would never had been bombed. Just saying.
I'm not going to politicize this awesome song, by this awesome band, I'm just going to say, thanks for posting! Alot of fond memorys developed from the release of "Power Windows"..
It's a history lesson, not a glorification of nuclear weapons... My parents lived in Japanese occupied Malaya, they were overjoyed when the US ended WWII by "shooting down the rising sun" with their "big stick" as were millions of other people. These guys write extremely meaningful lyrics, not just the same old "boy meets girl" drivel. Right on Rush!
Call me crazy, but I like Truckfighters' "Manhattan Project" better. Even though they're different songs.

@Bern938 Hmmm, misheard lyrics much?
"The end was begun -- it would hit everyone / When the chain reaction was done" - Much more poignant and powerful statement.
"SHOT down the rising sun" - Japan is known as "the Land of the Rising Sun". Nothing to do with a "son" in there.
soundy106 10 months ago
@soundy106 Perhaps you don't understand his Canadian accent, but that clearly is spoken with an "o"
Bern938 10 months ago
@Bern938 The lyrics as I quoted them, are exactly as printed on the original CD liner notes - I could arrange to have them scanned and post the image for you, if you don't believe me. And BTW, being Canadian myself, I have no problem with Geddy's accent.
soundy106 10 months ago
@soundy106 I don't need the liner notes, thanks. And I know what Japan is called. Agree or disagree with the statement. I don't care.
Bern938 10 months ago

So... your plan is to get enough people on Youtube to oppose this that Glee just has to stop? How do you expect this to work? Even if TV networks responded to public opinion, they would only make decisions to keep ratings up. Nobody would start watching Glee if they leave Rush alone, and nobody would stop watching if they cover Rush. You can't influence Glee, Vevo, or anything else by spamming on Youtube.
Hawk44Gent 1 year ago
@Hawk44Gent im not devaluing the significance of allied victory in WW2, however whether or not i would have been born in insignificant considering how small the chances of my conception were in the first place. Also, i can hardly place such importance on my own life, especially due to the magnitude of this subject matter. Cherish life my friend. :)
seanqwertybob 1 year ago
@seanqwertybob; Too bad you weren't here during the 1930s to wag your finger at the Germans and Japanese to tell them not to quantify nor debase human life. You say there is no need for anyone here to take this debate so seriously. Theres no need for you to tell anyone here what they should or shouldn't take seriously. Its their decision. WW2 was the most important event of the 20th Century. The freedom of the entire world was at stake. Reducing it to a punch in the nose is just ignorant.
Hawk44Gent 1 year ago
@Hawk44Gent wow chill... jeez. I was just expressing an opinion, i wasn't issuing an order or an ultimatum. I merely identified the fact that you shouldn't insist on some sort of vengence. Also, the tone of your arguement can hardly be called serious when you use terms like: the Japs and the Germans, as if they were football teams. When you remove the individual element of war you degrade the names of every man, woman and child who died during WW2.

Hawk44Gent 1 year ago
@Hawk44Gent i think the significance of this arguement is nullified now. Human life should never be quantified or debased, but in the same vain, it was necessary to act in order to prevent further losses. However there is no need for anyone here to take this debate so seriously, and the whole "Isn't that kind of gutless?" arguement is sickening when put into the context of human life. The "you punched me so i punched you back" mentality of your view is incredibly insensitive and cynicle.
seanqwertybob 1 year ago
@Hawk44Gent I heard that Truman used the bomb because invading mainland Japan would take time, effort, and many US soldier lives, while using the bomb would probably cause the immediate surrender of the Japanese, which it did after the two atomic bombs were dropped. Is that right or close to the point?
Sherlock910 1 year ago
@Skymer45; As I have said before: The Japanese attacked us. That attack forced us to respond. The resulting war between Japan and the United States was their doing, not ours. The Japanese were asked to surrender with The Potsdam Declaration. They refused. To force them to cease hostilities, the U.S. deployed the bombs. If Truman had decided to invade Japan's mainland instead to end the war, 1.5 Million innocent Japanese would have died instead of 300,000, PLUS 500,000 U.S. service men deaths.
Hawk44Gent 1 year ago
@Hawk44Gent well if the U.S had decided to invade mainland Japan and slaughter the citizens and not just the Army personnel, that would've been 1.5 million civilian deaths on their hands the could've been prevented.
Not to mention those bombings triggered and era of instability and uncertain anxiety with the Cold War.
Skymer45 1 year ago
@Skymer45
There's actually evidence that shows that the Japanese were willing to sacrifice their civilians, including children, to destroy American vehicles and squads. It not only would have been a bloodbath for every American who stepped onto Japanese soil, but also almost any civilians who believed the propaganda. Had the emperor of Japan been killed before signing a peace treaty, it is unlikely that the Japanese would have stopped fighting.
chitoryu12 1 year ago
@enimuetheanimator; You believe the U.S should have done nothing after the Japanese attacked Pearl Harbor. Isn't that kind of gutless? Doing nothing? Really? How about checking with the 2,500 families that lost loved ones in the attack and the families of the 700 service men that were tortured and killed in the Bataan Death March. Do you really think we were proud of the awful things we were forced to do during WW2? What kind of postwar world would we have had if the Axis had won? Think it over

Hawk44Gent 1 year ago
@vinnykster Yes, thats been a huge controversy for decades. If its true that FDR knew in advance the Japanese were gonna strike Pearl Harbor, that would really suck. IMO, FDR didn't know in advance. As for the NeoCons, their entire agenda is to invade countries with huge crude oil reserves to position the U.S geo-politically, so our oil based economy can go on for 100 more years. The NeoCons have powerful, insanely rich political allies in Big Oil, Big Pharma, Big Corn and Big PetroChem firms.
Hawk44Gent 1 year ago
@Armando2012102; Indeed. The whole war was barbaric. However, the Japanese civilions killed and maimed in Hiroshima and Nagasaki was unavoidable. If the U.S. had invaded the Japanese mainland rather than using the Bombs, it would have been peasants that the Japanese leaders would have sacrificed, as many as 1.5 million, because by August, 1945, the Japanese military had very few soldiers left. If your enemies are barbaric and want to destroy your way of life, then you too, must be barbaric.
Hawk44Gent 1 year ago
@deadheroesclub1; The Germans murdered 6 million Jews. The Japanese murdered 6 million Burmese during WW 2 plus 2,500 Americans in their sneak attack on Pearl Harbor. Do you really think the Germans and the Japanese, who were Hell bent on world domination, were going to stop just because the Allies asked them to? Do you have even the slightest grasp of the evil, vicious mindset of the German and Japanese leaders at that time? Where was THEIR morality? You really need to read alot more history.
Hawk44Gent 1 year ago
@Hawk44Gent You do know that it's been declassified that FDR KNEW about the Japanese wanting to attack Pearl Harbor.True there are tyrants all throughout history leading up to now What. I find puzzling and disturbing is that the neo-cons never seem to question our Govt that to this day props up tyrants and is in entangling alliances with them.. The founders warned us. We must listen!

Hawk44Gent 1 year ago
@Hawk44Gent: Absolutely right. The stubborn Japanese would not surrender after the 1st Bomb, even after Truman offered them an honorable surrender.
HOWEVER, it was also a dark chapter in U.S. history. There's no honor, military or otherwise, in targeting the enemy's population. Civilians as collateral damage from a nearby fight is understandable, but the annihilation of 100,000 non-combatants, mostly peasant women and children, is just barbaric.
Armando2012102 1 year ago
@Hawk44Gent Bollocks there was no need to drop that second bomb ,it was just a test of the uranium device , if a completly new wepon had destroyed a U.S. city would it have taken 3 days to evalulate just what had killed those people I dont think so,Japan at that time had no air defence so why could not a message be sent that implied that if surrender was not forthcoming another city would die within 2 weeks,Nagasaki would never had been bombed. Just saying.
