My interest in EarthBound mostly came from the fact that it was an RPG set in modern times instead of Medieval times like most RPGs of its time. The humor injected into this game is priceless, guaranteeing laughter for hours. All in all, I recommend this game to gamers of all walks of life, not just the RPG fanatics. Game on!

In mother 3, things are a bit more logical, ike the enemy actually did something to the hero (kiled his mother), and then the things start to roll. If you ask me, I think the mother 2 random style is much funnier them mother 3 logical style.

It's well worth the playthrough. Took me a few days of solid playing (about 5 hours a day). The game itself holds a ton of surprises that most veteran gamers won't even expect. This is more than true for the enemy roster, and the storyline and events also keep the game flowing nicely. It didn't go big over on these shores, but it did go big in japan, and after playing it, I can honestly see why it did. One of the best TBCRPG (Turn Based Combat Roleplaying Games) I've ever gotten my hands on.

"Mother 3" is the japanese name of the sequel to the game featured in this video, Earthbound (or, in japan, Mother 2). You could consider it Earthbound 2.

Smash bros brawl has demos for VC games now and the japanese site shows that earthbound is a demo as well which means they will have to put it on the VC!
The combination of the music and visuals was pretty awkward, but damn, you somehow made it work; and you'd deserve a 5 star rating either way just for having the guts to pull this off.
This game had the perfect blend of challenge, humor, depth, everything that makes a great game! The characters were all so great. I actually felt for them and WANTED to help them out. Most games have characters that I can't even force myself to be interested in. And that final battle with Pokey & Giygas...LEGENDARY! Never have I seen a more powerful display of emotion than with that final battle, where Paula helps defeat Giygas simply with the power of prayer!

Super Mario RPG, Paper Mario 1-2, Mario & Luigi 1-2, Mother 1-3, Fire Emblem 1-8(?). Nintendo bought Monolith Soft (makers of Xenosaga) this year.
They've published: Dragon Warrior (NES), Final Fantasy (NES), Final Fantasy I+II (GBA), Final Fantasy IV-VI (GBA), Final Fantasy Crystal Chronicles (GC) and Ring of Fates (DS), and Final Fantasy Tactics Advance (GBA). And Tales of Symphonia and Baten Kaitos in Europe.
If they've got a policy against RPGs, they're really bad at following it.

I hate it when a great game such as Earthbound gets constantly overlooked, ignored, pushed aside, and rejected in favor of some other franchise! Why does Nintendo keep teasing us Earthbound fans with Japan-only Earthbound/Mother characters such as Lucas in Smash Bros. Brawl? When is a REAL Earthbound sequel going to appear?

This was a well made game, I never got around to beating it, as a kid i lost this game after becoming a robot, when i became older i got the game as a ROM, but switched PC's, so the one with EB is sitting in the dark, I have no time to play with school in the way, i miss my childhood lol
