  • I think some of those backing vocals are from fulmar. Credit where it's due.

  • Great video to accompany this music, reminds me of a better world mid-20th century.

  • I know of the existence of video footage, Shammerton73, when he was filmed for an RTE episode of the Pure Drop from the Irish broadcaster. The programme as presented by fiddler Paddy Glackin and in particular I think it focused on links with Ulster and the Shetlands.

If Scotland does get a Creative Commons interactive channel as Blair Jenkins is hoping for, I would ask RTEs permission and if could source video, would up it just like that!

  • Great stuff!

  • omg gave shammerton73 thumbs down when meant to click thumbs up, sorry x

  • Not to worry Kirsty, I have scored the equaliser !

  • aw thank you x Ive given the thumbs up again, so sorry x

  • I´s virtually impossible to smile while playing fiddle, and im guessing the others are just concentrating too hard :-)

  • Willie was my Uncle, great to see him on You Tube.

  • OMG how lucky are you???? he´s the most talented man who ever walked, I love him!! do you play?

  • No, I am completely talentless ! My niece and brother-in-law are both great fiddlers though

  • Great to see Willie on YT. Anyone else got video footage of Willie they can put up for us to see?

  • I wholeheartedly agree!

    Jack (another one)

  • you can't but love this music. Aly is a great man he has made his music global and also learnt musically from the world. He continues on his path and those with listening ears are invited to follow.

  • Fantastic! The tune is "Starry Nights in Shetland". Aly Bain & Phil Cunningham play it in "The Ruby" in a set with "Sunset over Foula (1)" and Isles of Gletness (2)". Great video. Thanks and I wait for an other videos!!!

  • I agree-so honoured to have known and played with these people while in Shetland---Willie named a waltz of mine called "Memories of Shetland"
