  • Excellent!

  • The tuba part was really amazing, but I also give credit to the bassoons who played in unison with the tuba during that part around the 6:40 mark.

  • Are there any

dvds or videotapes of this group? You all sound great.

  • I'm playing ! I'm so glad you recored it... Good times !

  • Bravo! That was wonderful.

  • a question ;) what are the age range of this orchestra??? :)

  • I think its from 14 or 15 to 24 or 28 i'm not exactly sure

  • it 14-28

  • This is such a great piece and it was played so well. That tuba solo at 6:40 was just amazing, played like it was a concerto. I saw you guys play at the NAC and it was a professional ensemble playing and the encores were just so much fun. I'm making the audition this year and hopefully i could make it.

  • I'm pretty sure it was Bobby Ford playing it, she's an amazing tuba player.

  • Bobbie Ford* ... and I will keep an eye on her name to see in which orchestra she ends up in!

  • Bobbie Ford is an alumnus of Vincent Massey Collegiate in Winnipeg :)

  • this is from the 2007 season..

  • Is this from 1999? Does anyone have video footage from 1999 season?

  • Alive and Vibrant...Unlike the Nazi version of Dark and Dismal...Young free people create a masterpiece that the

    demonic cannot comprehend...BRAVO!!!

  • Excellent. THanks for posting, since I live in Courtenay on Vancouver Island and can't afford to get to many concerts. Nanaimo does have an orchestra and there is a CYMC orchestra in the Comox Valley. I heart the latter this past weekend, and I noticed that they lacked a certain energy that was evident in my husband's music. Even in gentle music there is an element of energy that was lacking in the CYMC performance.

  • It's great that I can hear this orchestra. I first saw them in the 1960s playing in the Orpheum Theatre in Vancouver, BC. I later married one of the founding members, Michael Crosbie, oboe (1960).

  • Yes, well I'm a nice enough guy to shoot video of the fantastic performance and toss it up on youtube for people to watch! I pity the people who don't goto the NYOC shows because they think it's like watching some regular old youth orchestra, yet, they put almost every major orchestra in Canada to shame with their performances.

  • @mmcrosbie Thanks for this upload. I played with the NYO in 1968 and 1969 and it was the largest musical experience of my life for many years to come. I still compare professional work to it...What does it say about our Canadian culture if the only orchestras which can play with vitality, feeling, and technical expertise is an orchestra made up of young people?
