Intersting scene: its so typical in MM. The reason why many westerners avoid Metro-Manila is bcause its a city that displays everything that is wrong with capitalism, the system westerners love so much. The West also has poverty, but has the resources to hide it well enough, whereas in MM they dont: hence the evidence of the error of western style capitalism seen everywhere (the squatters)!
