I could hardly believe J. Lo last night on American Idol when she said that she had never heard of Ryan Adams! And she's supposed to be a music expert!?
@IslandJan Very true. Ryan is one of those people who is more than just a great songwriter. His songs, lyrics and style have helped me through many a rough time. One of the very best artists in this world.
why wouldn't they just release a couple of albums from all of his unreleased work on itunes? i don't know anything about how much that would cost, but it would give his diehard fans a legal way of obtaining all of his great, depressing, sad music.
You need to be able to torrent it. Search for Ryan Adams Suicide Handbook torrent and there are numerous websites you can download it from. And 48 Hours, another unreleased album. Hope that helps!
What duds....to think RA is the son of Bryan Adams! and they sound similar??..Compare "La Cienega Just Smiled" with "Heaven" or whatever...so there you go!!!
this man is perfection - he just seems like such a beautiful human we are so lucky to beable to call on his music at any time for his honesty, his pragmatism, his realism, his brilliance - Ryan Adams thank god you make music!!!!
yes, i thought it sounded a little older... the dobro sounds stylistically like "chin up cheer up" from demolition, which i would assume was recorded around the same time. perhaps more material from suicide handbook will be on this rumored "box set" that's coming this winter?
We can hope (if it ever does in fact see the light of day). It is actually one of the albums rumored to be included in the box set. The album in its current state floating around the net features mostly Ryan and a musician named Bucky Baxter accompanying him (that's him you hear on slide). Ryan has mentioned before in an interview that the album features a whole string ensemble, so it would really be amazing to hear what it sounds like now. Let's cross our fingers. :)
what's funny is that I actually had Suicide Handbook a year or two ago. I found it on a hub when I was in college. Somehow I lost the entire album though, which really sucks. I love this song though. I got addicted to Ryan Adams when a friend played some of his music almost 3 years ago! I'm just realizing that now, it's amazing how fast time goes by.
My breathing becomes painful when I listen to any of this Man's music.Beyond gifted, his music makes my life bareable.

This guy is cursed, but in a good way. He makes such catchy tunes, albiet torturous, and still manages to stay sane.
