Hey dude, I like most of your videos and I only started watching. I had a question for you though. You seem to usually only single out the Quran and the Holy Bible for scrutiny but I've yet to see you include the Torah or the Talmud... any specific reason? Thanks!
What is interesting is that the people who are burning the Koran are just as much the victims of iconography as the people defending it. They are imbuing it with as much power as the believers, since they are using this action with malicious and bellicose intent. Participants on both sides are fools.. In this conflict of religions scenario, I think Buddhism has something to offer: just don't get attached to material things.
Question: If I have to have a copy of On the Origin of Species can it be one of the ones with a 50 pg intro by Ray Comfort? Cause if so I can tell you which book I'll be wiping my ass with!
On a serious note, I totally get where you are coming from here and I find that such iconography is absurd. Any item is just that, an item. It doesn't matter what our mental conditioning is regarding these items, we need to take a step back and look how absurd it is to be so damn easily offended.
If there is a god, and he is Allah, then the Koran is his word. A believing Muslim is only acting appropriately by defending the Koran from any insult.
oh speaking of smearing ashes on canvas , there was that painter whats her name , (google check) Val Thompson who painting with the ashes of dead people XD
Fair enough. Furthermore, people do what they want with their private property, and burning it is admissible. I was more outlining a personal principle, in the sense that I personally wouldn't do it. Take care.
Yeah only thing that was burnt was the American flag again by so called moderate Muslims in England even after knowing that there would be no burning of the koran.
And that happened on 9/11. It was no biggie.Media hardly covered it. Funny ahh
The Crucifix, a symbol of murder and human sacrifice. A medieval torture device, which must not be disrespected! Hail to the Guillotine! Bow in awe to the Rack! If you are not Anti-Theist..... you are not paying attention.
I might get somewhat upset at having to use Darwin's pages but I am certainly not going to go and kill someone if they use them to wipe their ass. However, that period of upset would be about 5 seconds. A book is a book is a book. Of course, I would be using the holy books first while reading 'On Origin of Species'. Simple priorities first.
@nelliediddle For real. This whole thing is people claiming to be christian or muslim and yet raging over idol worship. LAWL LAWL LAWL. Omg , god is a funny fucker.
@nelliediddle God's son Jesus is saying "LAWL LAWL LAWL ROEWFL REWFL i told them not to worship idols and look they rage about the burning of idols and if it is wrong or right, LEWL they missed the whole point, guess me getting nailed to a chunk of wood was necessary after all, LEWL LEW RAWFL!"
Normally I couldn't care less about people burning icons, I've seen my share of Danish flags being burnt back in 2006 - hell, at one point some of them even ran out of Danish flags and started burning Swiss flags instead. And I don't care one bit about Pastor Jones and his crazy followers either, I just think they should read some history and find out whose footsteps they're walking in.
But man, when the Taliban blew up those ancient Buddha statues, that made me sad. And I'm not even a Bhuddist.
The most energy put behind an image is the image of oneself. That is then transferred onto an object. Keep that happening for long enough, people will start taking that speculation upon it's own darwinian manifestation. Finally you end up with a holy book full of basic human observations of oneself (introspection) refined down to majority of likeness to oneself = perfection of a people.
Yet we are not perfect, we are diverse & that is where Abrahamic religions stuck it's head up it's arse!
funny thing about the cross and nail thing is the bible does say to worship the creator not the creation and the bible also says to not make gravin images.that documentry shows just how far gone my christian brothers and sister realy are.

Me thinks if you're gonna go after this topic, you should go after the so called "iconography" of this retard:
/watch?v=GdtqtfXdR-c&NR=1
Me thinks it would be most fun, seeing as there's also nuts who do the "pyramid and eye is in everything, it must be a conspiracy" iconography P:

My religion teacher took a crucifix, with Jesus on it and started banging it on the desk. He broke off Jesus' hand.

Burning books is allowing for the destruction of ideas, and that's why I wouldn't do it.
arsenelupin123 1 year ago
For me, you cross the line when you destroy the content of the book.

Although you're right, countries going batshit crazy over this is kind of stupid too... I think everybody's way to stressed out about this.
