  • How did you shoot the scene with the truck driving on the road?

  • @Darthlongi I had the camera on a glide cam pro, and was sitting in the bed of my dad's truck. Then I just had the actor playing Conner follow us in the "Kent" family truck. Thanks for your question!

  • man props like mad, my fav part was probably the things that were said at the very end, thats one thing iv loved about smallville, all about being positive.

  • @23zombo23 Thanks so much! I appreciate the encouragement, and I'm really glad that you liked it.

  • It's a good story, I enjoyed it. Will there be a sequel?

  • @mach5mwinters Thanks a lot! I'm sorry to say that there are no plans for a sequel at this point, but I would never say never. Lately I have been working on an original film, "Wireless". You can check out the trailer on my channel, and the full film should be posted in a week or two. Thanks again for checking out "Superboy", I appreciate the comment!

  • I liked part 1 but you need to change the syndication settings on part 2 so I can watch it on my phone. Thanks

  • @erickeown1 Thanks for the comment. I would change the syndication if I could, but due to the music in part 2, (Jimmy Olson Blues by the Spin Doctors), the syndication settings have been locked by You Tube. Sorry about that, I wish I could fix it so people could watch both parts on all devices. Thanks for checking out part 1!

  • wow dude that was awsome

  • @diltoon I'm glad you liked it. Thanks for checking it out and taking the time to comment!

  • great job! but funny how connor is actually going to appear in smallville now hunh :)

  • @TheMeasureOfUs Thanks! I'm a little embarrassed to admit it, but I'm behind on my Smallville. I haven't watched any of this season yet, which is a disgrace seeing how it is the final season and all. But, I'm glad to hear that Conner will be making an appearance. Just a little bit of trivia, when I first started writing the script, neither Conner nor Kara had appeared on Smallville (just the Kara impostor in season 3). Oh well, so much for continuity. Thanks again for watching!

  • @Matthew13tube this could take place in a non canon timeline. maybe on where lana pasted away, nd johnathon kent is alive maybe?

  • @EpicMickeyFundubs True enough. Originally I had wanted to make it as canon as possible, but as the show has progressed they have now used all of the characters in the fanfilm, that had not been used yet when I first started on the project. But, an alternate timeline works for me!

  • @Matthew13tube yeah thats true! ^^ still it was good, not the best acting, but effects where terrific for a fanfilm, the charaters where good, wrighting was good enough for smallville standards, and the cameos by tom and micheal were fantastic. so keep up the good work. dr. hamilton was great! i would love to see more in Smallville B-Timeline.

  • @EpicMickeyFundubs Thanks! I appreciate the feedback, especially from a fan of the show!

  • @Matthew13tube your welcome. I have almost all the episodes of the seires. Still i can;t not wiat for the final season to end msotly couse i jsut want tom to wear the darn suit.

  • dude i like you really should do some more shows...and if you need a super villain just let me know lol

  • @lajah59 Thanks for the feedback, I'm glad you liked it. And as far as super villains go, I'll put you at the top of the list! Thanks again.

  • hope you plan on making a sequal :)

  • @OperationSpider I'm really glad you want to see more, but I'm sorry to say that there is no sequel planned at this time. But, I would never say never!

  • It was great. Congrats. You Should Do Another One Where He Finds A Shirt Of Clarks That Has The S Symbol on it. And Also Wat was the song at the end of the video??

  • @cagedbeastanimal Thanks, I really appreciate it! That's a good idea about finding one of Clark's "Blur" t-shirts, that would make for a very interesting moment, I like that idea a lot. As for the last song of the video it is "Sea of Faces" by Kutless. Thanks again for watching and taking the time to comment!

  • that was good are you going to make more superboy videos

  • @NightwingTGK Thanks for watching and for the sub, both are greatly appreciated. As for making more Superboy videos, I would never say never, but I don't have any plans to make another one in the near future. Right now I'm working on my first original feature length project, and that is keeping me plenty busy. Thanks again for watching, and I'm glad you enjoyed it!

  • its awesome, and Matthew13tube if you want to continue this go to hot topic and they have a superboy shirt

  • @gracynwazhere0 Thanks for the tip! I had done a little looking around and could never find one. In the end I decided to go with a plain black T-shirt, to be similar to how Clark would wear his blue T-shirt and red jacket on Smallville. It's like they are in costume, but not quite. Anyway, thanks for checking it out, and for the tip on hot topic, I will have to give it a look. Thanks again!

  • Awesome Work, I loved it, you really should continue this :)

  • @TheNextAvenger Thanks, I appreciate the encouragement! I don't know if I'll be returning to Smallville anytime soon, but I am working on a new project for the "your big break" contest put on by Rogue Pictures and AMC Independent. So, I will keep making films. Thanks again for checking out Superboy, it's always great to hear from someone who enjoyed it!

  • Good ! Well done ! Keep the episodes comming !!

  • @kurt30001 Thanks for checking it out! I appreciate you taking the time to comment!

  • you have to keep making more of these. these are really good.

  • @EternalDarkness316 I will do my best. Thanks again for your nice comments!

  • Nice video! You did a great job of capturing the tone and style of Smallvile. The location, dialogue, usage of music, etc. were all spot on. I also noticed that you used a variation of the Princess Bride theme in the scene where Conner is brooding by the road toward the end. Who did you get to play that music?

I look forward to seeing more shorts from you.

  • @TheAnonymousUs3r

Wow, thanks so much for your kind words. To say that the fanfilm captured the tone and the style of the show is very high praise indeed! So, again thank you. As far as the music goes, my girlfriend had given me a CD of a bunch of different instrumentals that she had used for videos produced at her job, the Princess Bride theme was one of the tracks on that mix CD, so I would assume that version of the song could be found on a soundtrack or iTunes. Thanks again!!

  • @Matthew13tube

    You're welcome. It's a standout fanfilm.

I actually have the Princess Bride soundtrack, and the song played in your video was a remake of the theme.

  • @Matthew13tube

By the way, your special effects were also pretty good. I laughed when Conner wondered out loud whether the door he flung away might accidentally injure someone. Whenever superheroes do stuff like that, they never seem to consider who might accidentally get hurt. What did you use to create the effects in your film? Did you use After Effects? How long did it take to make whole thing?

  • @TheAnonymousUs3r I'll be honest, I'm not much of a special effects guy. Of course many of the effects were taken directly from the show, the blood cells is done in After Effects and there is a video co-pilot tutorial that takes you through step by step, for the 3-D logo and fridge door I used Blender, and the running effect was a simple iMovie plug-in. It took several months to complete, but there were a lot of stops and starts, I would guess it amounted to four to six weeks of work.

  • great job!!!! ;)

  • @UgoChent

Thanks a lot, I appreciate it!

  • That would be interesting to see Conner in the Smallville universe someday. You were very believable.

  • @ZomgrulerZ,

Thanks for taking the time to check it out. I appreciate the feedback and the kind words. I hear that Smallville just got picked up for a tenth season, so I wouldn't be surprised if Conner does make an appearance. Thanks again.

  • Very Cool. The town, farm and the fx were very nicely done. The guy who played Prof. Hamilton was great, very genuine. I look foward to more Smallville fan films.

  • Thanks so much. I appreciate you taking the time to comment!!

  • great movie, well done. i liked the use of Jimmy olsen's Blues (i love that song). i felt like the girl playing kara rushed her lines and was just trying to get through them but besides that incredible job. conner was spot on and the movie over all was excellent

  • Thanks again. There are a few things that I would fix if I had to do it over again, taking time with that last scene would be one of them, but that is how we learn. Thanks again for watching and taking the time to comment!

  • awesome movie!

what kind of camera did you use?

  • Thanks so much. As far as camera goes, I have a Panasonic DVX-100B. I'm really happy with it, and it's a great camera, though there is a part of me that would like to move to an HD camera soon. Thanks again for watching!

  • are you gonna make more movies by the way merry chrismas and happy new year. i would love to see a Kara Connor team up or something.

  • Yes, I will be making more movies. I'm actually shooting a Zombie movie for a friend of mine right now. You can see some of the behind the scenes footage on my channel. So, I am looking forward to making more movies, but I don't know if I'll be revisiting Smallville anytime soon. I think a Conner and Kara team up does sound like a good idea though. Have a Merry Christmas and Happy New Year!

  • i liked it great job was that supose to be Kara Kent at the end or PowerGirl maybe. great job i liked it.

  • Thanks. It's always nice to hear from a Smallville/Superman fan who likes the film. And yes, that was a brief appearance by Kara at the end of the film. At the time I had written the script, Kara had not been on Smallville yet, so I thought that would be a fun character to add. Thanks again for watching and taking the time to comment.

  • So I liked the movie. The production value was really cool. The only thing I thought needed work was the dialogue reading. The script was great, except that girl reading off the moral in that way would have been better if it was an ending narrative, and the way you read dialogue felt like you were reading a book aloud. The acting, other than that, was great, just the reading needed work.

Now for the question; what kind of equipment did you use for filming?

  • Thanks so for taking time to check out the movie and the kind feedback. I agree that some things could have been more natural, but that is how we grow. As far as equipment goes, I used a DVX-100B camera, an AKG shotgun mic, a small glidecam rig for the moving shots, and a reflector for additional light. Nothing too fancy. If there is anything else you would like to know, don't hesitate to ask. Thanks again for checking out my film and for taking the time to comment.

  • you used a green screen

  • First off, thanks for watching. To answer your question, there was no green screen used in the production. All scenes were shot on location, but we did not have access to a green screen. Thanks again.

  • you used a green screen

  • Well, I guess this can't be anonymous, but I wanted to publish my impression. I love how well the story flows, I think this short film is a GREAT example of good story telling, spending just the right amounts of time on each component of each scene. This is a very well put together movie. Thanks for letting me be a part of it. P.S. where can I buy a pot rack like you had in the Kent kitchen.

  • Thanks for the encouragement, and for your help. Without your efforts, I don't think that the project would have gotten finished. As for the pot rack, it is a treasure so rare that it can not be bought, it has to be given as a gift from the master craftsman.

  • Great Job! The locations were cool and story was interesting.

  • Thanks for watching and taking the time to comment. I'm glad that you enjoyed it.

  • Hey man, well done. Check out my Smallville Fan Trailer..type..thing. =p Mine is pretty amateur considering I had no help, only me in the film and me filming it. =p Well done again.

  • Thanks so much, I will be sure to check out your trailer, much respect for getting out there even though you have to do it all by yourself. Thanks again.

  • WOW, nicely done!!!

  • Thanks so much. It's always nice to get positive feedback. Thanks again.

  • real nice job! i liked the story line! hope to see more

  • I'm glad that you liked it. Thanks for taking the time to check it out and to comment. I really appreciate both. Thanks again.

  • awesome vid for any smallville fan

    great job 5stars

  • Thanks a lot, both for checking it out, and for taking the time to comment. I'm really glad that I was able to make something that fellow Smallville fans can like. Thanks again.

  • great vid for any smallville fans

    good job

  • fence .... is really fantastic, incredible, it really is like aver seen another episode of smallville with a history very different from the original look, let me congratulate your video is really good, do not let others let you have more, I congratulate you, greetings from mexico city.

  • Many thanks to Mexico City!

  • Awesome! I thought it was great, I usually don't expect a lot from a fan film, but this went above and beyond!

  • Thanks so much. I too have seem my fair share of fan films. Some of them are really outstanding. Others are.........not as outstanding. I'm just glad to be somewhere in between. Thanks for taking the time to check it out, and for the encouragement. It is much appreciated.

  • I really liked the addition of the music. It added an element of emotion that the first film was missing. Good film! Good story. Very Smallville.

My first thought with the nail and hammer was...ouch, sucks to be human...then Connor ran out of gas. Now that is something I can really relate to. I'm glad I watched these.

  • Thanks for the kind words and taking the time to comment. It means a lot that a Smallville fan would have such nice things to say. Thanks again.
