I don't like yaoi; I don't hate it either, nor am I opposed to representations of gay relationships in fiction or fanfiction. A pairing preference is just that, and fandom is FOR the What Ifs.
BUT I do dislike the weird seme/uke roles characters are stuffed into, I dislike people making a fetish of it, and more often than not I tend to dislike characters being shipped in BL, GL, or even het relationships (so popularly and intensely) despite contrary or lack of such characterization in canon.
What's with all the yaoi hate? It's not interfering with your lives, nor is it forcing itself upon you. Don't like it? Fine. But don't blatantly bash it for no reason whatsoever. It's immature. Like what you like, but don't dislike those who like things you don't. Everyone is different. Respect that.

However, when a person becomes famous, they are subjecting themselves to their fans, or lack thereof. In other words, in Vic's case, he garnered fame from many anime fans of different genre preferences. He knows this and should be ready for anything the fans may request. Also, he has a mouth, so he can politely refuse. The fact that he's whining about yaoi fans is annoying.

The subject of guns is a touchy one, because while they kill, the also save lives. It's a double-edged sword, so to speak. While I wish they didn't exist, I also know that humans flock to chaos and power. Guns bring both.

@kitties576 You're going by the fan terms and most fans I know use yaoi and Shounen-ai interchangeably...when marketing and writing manga you have to have seperate terms so you don't have porn ending up with kids manga...like an idiot comic shop nearby did.

Me personally, I'm not a fan of yaoi. If people like it, I think that's all good, there's absolutely no problem at all with that, but me myself and me alone, yaoi just isn't my thing... with that having been said, I'm a big Loveless fan.

@jg12sc82 It started with a request. Someone asked Vic to say something nice about Colonel Mustang in his Ed voice. Vic said: "Colonel Mustang is dead sexy.... in a miniskirt!" Now. All of the RoyEd SUPER fangirls saw this as "OMG! YAAAAAAAAAOI!!" (I am a RoyEd fan, btw. :P) Even though Vic meant this to be kind of a stab at Travis's character in the classic Edward Elric way. Now, tons of RoyEd Fangirls ask him to say the line. He hates it. He really does. He regrets that day in his life, prob.

it's parring two guy anime/manga characters together as a couple, even tho they are strait in the series. Vic has been asked to do the line "Roy Mustang looks dead sexy in a mini-skirt!" soooo many times, it's gotten very old and he's sick of it.
Yuri is the female version.
Alot of people have also come to him vith creepy pictures of Ed and Roy. he really doesn't like the parring, but he doesn't want to make his fans that like it mad @ him.

yaoi-mangas have many sex scenes between two guys in it.
there's also "shonen ai". it's about relationships between two guys too, but without sex.

I don't like yaoi; I don't hate it either, nor am I opposed to representations of gay relationships in fiction or fanfiction. A pairing preference is just that, and fandom is FOR the What Ifs.
BUT I do dislike the weird seme/uke roles characters are stuffed into, I dislike people making a fetish of it, and more often than not I tend to dislike characters being shipped in BL, GL, or even het relationships (so popularly and intensely) despite contrary or lack of such characterization in canon.

I'm a yaoi fan, and the Vic absolutely hates Yaoi, yet it's forced onto him ALL the time by the freaky yaoi fans, and I honestly feel bad for him. You guys really need to back off, because you need to know it makes him uncomfortable, and he honestly doesn't like it. He just does it so you enjoy yourself. :/ It's selfish not to take his feelings into consideration.

@AllyssSings I partially agree with you about fans taking things way too far. People should learn to respect others. However, when a person becomes famous, they are subjecting themselves to their fans, or lack thereof. In other words, in Vic's case, he garnered fame from many anime fans of different genre preferences. He knows this and should be ready for anything the fans may request. Also, he has a mouth, so he can politely refuse. The fact that he's whining about yaoi fans is annoying.

@Fynniann It's not the genre, yaoi, itself that interferes. It's the annoying fans that take everything way too seriously that interfere with everyone going about their business. They give the fandoms they're in a bad name and ruin the fun for everyone else. Blame the people in the fandom, but not the genre. Yaoi, like every other genre out there, is simply a neutral creation to cater to people who will like it. I love Hetalia and yaoi and I respect everyone's differences. There can be a balance

The subject of guns is a touchy one, because while they kill, the also save lives. It's a double-edged sword, so to speak. While I wish they didn't exist, I also know that humans flock to chaos and power. Guns bring both.

as for the gun thing. my point was that some cases of weak individuals were not stable mentally. obviously most people who do shoot wish harm to the person being shot.

Generally speaking, yes, some weak minded people might be considered mentally unstable. Unless they are proven to be so by doctors and professionals, one can only speculate based on opinion and personal experience. I'd probably assume loose morals.

@AMAZINGSOMEONE1 I wouldn't call it torture; just annoying. If you become famous, this should be a normal expectation. Fans will badger the hell out of you. And Vic is nowhere near as famous as Hollywood stars, and they get the paparazzi breathing down their necks 24/7. Vic gets to go home with little to no worries and a nice paycheck. Yes, it's annoying when fans badger people, especially with repetitiveness, but that's basically his life now. All he has to do is say "no" nicely to fans.

@Xoxociana I completely agree with you on requesting that fans keep a calm and respectful frame of mind when approaching VAs/celebs/etc. Everyone should learn to respect others. Plain and simple. If someone says no, it means no. I've learned that many rabid fans tend to act irrationally and don't consider peoples' feelings, which isn't right. No matter what you're a fan of, respect and consideration is universal.

@NayNayRevolution true yaoi is (should be) porn. from what i've heard form the girls that like yaoi, actaully enjoy shonen-ai, which is a big difference. yaoi might not be just porn, but will have sex between the two guys, while shonen-ai never gets that far.

@NayNayRevolution I'm not taking sides, But Yaoi is not porn unless you look for one with sex, last time I checked porn wasn't censored... If you get into a yaoi or yuri with sex, then yes. It would be counted, but there are MANY with out those things and they're still classified as a yaoi and not shonen ai. Yuri is the same in this sense. I don't know if this is the point you we're making or denying but either way.
