Hehe bra!
Great playing! I'm actually looking at getting an electronic kit and cannot decide between this and the TD-4kX with all mesh heads, is it worth the extra money do you know?
Hi, thanks alot for commenting. I would definetly go for the TD-4KX ... if I had known this was coming two months after I bought this kit, I would have waited. But still the TD-4K is a great kit, but to have the posibillity to tune the heads and get the bounce you want is priceless.... so go for Meash heads :-) Merry Christmas : rtronsta
Hey. Well played! Finally a drummer which uses ghost-notes on an electronic drum-kit. I've been looking for a new drumset, because my own is not sensitive enough. Though all the videos I see are drummers 'drumming'without dynamics. Youve shown this drumset can transfer even the v. soft ghost notes.
Still one question: Can you do drum rolls on the snare pad? Like play a decent march? Or wont that sound well?
@qreste1 unless you're a professional military snare drummer.....I doubt you'll be able to tell the difference between one of these mesh snares and a real one.
hi. nice video.. im gettin an td-4 soon. i would like to know did u record the sound of it .. it is an amazind sound and verry clear sound . please help me out on this one !
Hi ive had this drumkit for some months now but i have 1 question how can i connect it to my mac so i can record the sound like you are doing. Is there sime kind of special cable i need cause the only thing i see is the the midi or whatever it is on the right side of the module please help me thanks
Hi you can use midi cable into a sequenser program (ex:
Cakewalk, Cubase). Then you would need to play on a click track.
If you record MIDI you can use a drum vst plugin ex: EZ Drummer (do a youtube search). Great sounds. You might consider to buy a good soundcard/midi interface from 300EUR ---> for less latency.
Option 2: just record straigt from the analog outputs of your Roland TD and into analog input of your computer. Also here you could by a audiointerface.
Very cool; after watching enough video's I've just bought my own TD4K set today (with double basspedal); normally I wanted the HD1 kit but this one has many more features like a rimshot and cymbals you can dim by hand..
I havent played the drums for 10 years now (I've played it 15 years) so I'll have to practice again before I do a showoff in a video :D
hey man.... you got some awesome skills i have to say, i play drums at school(like whenever i feel like it), but i play trombone normally... i can do a lot of basic beats and a few good fills... and i was thinking of getting this kit my local music store... would you reccomend this to a beginner like me?
Love the TD-4. Can someone please tell me how to program the rim shot on snare? I know TD-3 had issues with it, but was hoping this was just my own confusion and not another defect. Please lay some of that knowledge on me. Thank you
awesome, great kit, im just wondering, could u give me the measurements, in inches, of the cy-8's, the cy-5, the pdx-8 snare, and pd-8 toms, sorry, it's a long story, but could u give my the measurements of the pads i just said on ur roland td-4 kit? thanks, it would really help
Sorry i have another question does it come with built in practice songs? Im so exited im getting this drum set tommorow! also how long did it take to set it up connect it etc..?
Unfortunatly the kit does not come with a bassdrum pedal. But pedals are so subjective anyway, so go to a store and try out different pedals... also double pedal works fine.
Unfortunaty I did not understand what you wrote... Checked out the song on your profile.. great work. ( vMinisterio Natane Rocha Te Adorar). Best regards Rtronsta
Great playing, I got a question about the kit. I got it myself too, and I love it. Although the kick pedal sometimes gets loose from the bass, and my floor is pretty smooth so my HH pedal also slips alot. How did you fix that?
Hi and thanks for commenting. I tried different things, but taking a 3-5 mm wooden board with some rubber underneath, and then use the screws that came with the kit works fine. Also going to IKEA and buy a carpet and then use the screws also worked fine.
For the bass drum feel I found it most preferable to have it against a wall, and not use the screws.
Thanks alot for the comment. On the recording I just connected the drums to a cheap behringer analog mixer and into my m-audio soundcard. I selected drumkit 2 named COATED on the td-4 module, and played over the drums on the song. The coated is so simular to the kit used when recording the song.
Man thanks for posting this! I'm just about to buy this kit and have been struggling to find any videos of some decent players playing it. I really wanted to see someone play them with a bit of subtlety, not just pounding the shit out of them. Love your work, cool song too!
The drums are great, but now there is even a TD-4KX out there, and I would without a doubt by that one if I had been in the store today. Mesh heads all the way would be nice.

Hi. Great drumming and a great track, too.
I've just bought the TD4-k - will be delivered next week. Can't wait!
I'm a complete beginner though, but when I can play to as decent standard, jazz / funk will be my favoured style.
Please do upload some more videos. You're very good.

Matthew

Hi
Thanks alot for commenting
I just used a old sony dcr-hc 92 ( I think) dv cam.
The sound is line out from the kit into my m-audio interface on my computer.
Then I edited the movie and added the recording as soundtrack. It is a couple of ms off, but I think it turned out ok.

Unfortunately, no practice songs built in, but u could get some on the external audio source (i think they have to be WAV files)
Also, i think you can just use an auxiliary cable and plug in ur ipod or somethin.
Hope this helps!

is this kit durable?
tbamr 2 years ago
I would say so. I haven`t transported it around alot, but there is some plastick on it as weel that probably can break if bent or stretched.
There is nothing not durable when it comes to where you hit when you play at least.
I must say it feels pretty durable yes. Miles ahead of Mendeli or whatever cheaper e-drums.

im thinking about getting one of these man...please tell me its satisfactory?
and also how did you get the clarity like that...did u record your playing and then sync it with the vid?
mckevvy 2 years ago
The drums are great. I`m very satisfied. Really great to be able to practice when I want to, and the feel is not far from an accoustic set.
I wanted to buy a kit with mesh heads, but I had to compromise. I`m adding the saved $ in a better accoustic kit.
Imported the song into cakewalk sonar
and then played along while recording. Then I edited the levels.
Imported the video in Pinnacle studio.Aligned the soundtrack to the videocam soundtrack, and then deleted the videocam sndtrk.
