I need badly some good advice to train my Canadian Siberian Husky. He's seven month old and often get excited seeing strangers while walking. He starts jumping and demand petting. @TheBob0416 You have to use a remote training collar. Condition the dog to this collar(see Dogtra type) and associate your voice suggestions with the vibration from the collar to distract your dog to you. Reward him with food if he's obbeying.

Two thumbs up to you! Good Job! I just got a 6 month old Siberian husky about 10 days ago, I can tell that training him is very challeging as Husky are highly inteligent yet very stubborn :)

You have acomplished a lot with Bonjuk! Good job!

WOW, very impressive and Bonjuk has beautiful markings! I have a 8 month old female SH and she has the greatest personality. Any tips for training her? She is the most stubborn dog I have ever met, I've established dominance (and believe me it was difficult) but I'm trying to walk her off-leash and I don't know where to start... I've heart huskies are not too good for that.

That was incredible. Got a husky born Nov 21 2009. Clicker and treat training going well. Daily 4-5 mile runs. Very smart. Very active. Wonderful dogs. This video was very impressive. You guys have a wonderful connection.

never to old to train a dog. patients and dont get frustrated, if you get impatient the dog will sense it and react. be the leader. very calm tone and dominant.

Yes I'm located in Bucharest,Romania.

As tips, you could make him to recognise your food as reward. So you shoul conditioned him until you give him a treat. When he' unpatient for the food from your hand, try to retreat your hand, and close up the hand again, when he, calm. Try to use all your speed reaction, because huskies are very fast. Good luck! In Romania I had a German Shepard(his name was Nero) and I trained him from a manual. We use to swim in the lake together, go for bike rides, play tennis(Nero would return us the tennis ball)... One of a kind memories!

You have to ask? Research the breed a bit more maybe. This breed is very smart and very trainable yes. Will not deny that. but I have known too many people that were overconfidant in their ability to overcome the nature of the breed and it ends badly for the dog almost all the time. Even the Siberian that actually competed and won at the highest levels of Obedience trials decided one day that something else somewhere else was more rewarding.

Or how about my friend who was so confidant his Siberian was a perfect off leash pet he didn't listen to top Sibe people. Every day for 7 years proved them wrong as he let his Sibe out of the car and let him walk to the door. Every day for 7 years he did just that, walk to the door sit and wait. Then one day, for reasons unknown, he took off and it ended on the road a couple miles away. He was struck and killed by a car.

Thanks Inku and Richy for your nice comments. Answering to your questions, I can tell you that my huskies are all on lead, if this mean train them to know who's the leader of the pack.

After all these, everything is simple, somehow, to teach them different stuffs. They'll become focused on us if they consider that we are interesting enough to earn their attention. ;)

I have a husky and she does some incredible things and I have never had any dog before.I take her to Unicersity campus and ask her to catch me rabits and she is a master of it., The entire time she is off the leash and followes me like a shadow. Here are my tips from personal experiance.

I think it's not safe to have your husky off the leash in the day time or when there is too much distraction. If she is off the leash u must be entertaining to her or be a playing mate to her(part of d proccese

About the dog pills... You can put a pill into a piece of food...

Try to throw it to him, to catch it from air.He's gonna swallow it. If he's not used to catch the thrown pieces of food, you should train him to catch it. You can throw few pieces of food, first, with no pills inside at all. After the moment when he likes the game and he is waiting for the game with interest, you can put a pill into the piece of food(lets say, some meet).

I have a question.

Do you think that alaskan malamutes or siberian husky can't be trained with positive methods? some malamutes owners say that the positive methods doesn't work in this kind of dog. That the best method is the punishment. But, I see Bonjuk and it's amazing, they say that only with easy nordic dogs, the positive works. With my malamute/husky mix, I used the positive method and it worked.

What concentration! The dog was completely focused on the owner. I have a border collie heeler like that, and have just bought a 9 week old husky pup. In three days the pup learnt come, sit, shake hands and go toilet. They are incredibly smart and I hope I can train my boy like the one on theis vid!!!

Oh god! Please help me! I have just bought eight week old husky - Sabre. Really amazing... huskies are not easy to train. I think mine is pretty good, he knows lots of different commands, but off the leash in public, I guess his Don Juan/adventurous side takes over!

My husky just cannot be trusted off lead. He gets bored easily and runs off to find something exciting. He is never off the lead anymore - only when he was a young dog in a play group, and he still had to be chased down a few times. It is amazing to see how focused this husky is on you!
