The govt uses our fear of this to restrict our freedom.

So the cost of ensuring our access to oil is the loss of liberty in the US.

Most countries in which we provide foreign aid (that are not corrupt), would rather not receive the aid so as not to be obligated to assuage US national interests abroad to get said aid, Israel included. Which is most likely, in many cases, what foreign aid is designed to do.

If the US stays away from Egypt, I would argue that the Egyptian people would be more likely to elect moderate leaders. If the US interferes....or is seen to interfere, the extremists will gain a foothold as the populace fears being taken over by US interests.
