  • double j :)

  • classic album .

  • You were awesome in bed!!!!!!!!!!!

  • R.I.P. Shirl

  • There are so many great Aussie bands from this period but Shirl and Skyhooks? What can you say.....they were so fantastic!

  • This is a great clip ... love the strobe effect part ... what a buzz ... great band, great guitar parts, great drumming, great bass playing, top it off with Shirl and what do ya get ?

  • Wow,this is such a good quality recording, anything else floating around from this concert?

  • @Jules5 Hi mate - They filmed 5 songs from this gig. Fest hall melb 83. I fluked front row. . Though there firt warm up gig was at The Jam Club in Morwell with Red and Shirl both BACK. Chockers and sweat dripping on mic from the ceiling. To find others from this look for Bongos - ( and Reds ) distinctive clothes. Bongo had some sort of grid iron thing on???

  • no special effects no dancers just a bunch of guys singing...how simple. back then you went to see a band and thats what you got...

  • another great aussie band the way they used to be

  • I couldn't believe it one day. Although I'm 26 and my sister is a few years younger than me, I was walking past her room the other day and she was listening to the SKYHOOKS and my sister is so into modern music it's not funny... I'm like, why are you listening to the Skyhooks? you hate old music! She said... it was on Glee. That just floored me. The Skyhooks. On GLEE. FFS... I dunno what to think of it.

  • @RomanaThird You are kidding???

  • @RomanaThird,,,,,,are you sure your sister isn't just winding you up?

  • LOVE THIS VIDEO! GREAT BAND! GREAT SONGS! GREAT BAND MEMBERS! GREAT COSTUMES! GREAT EGO'S!

    GO BOYS!

  • Still miss Shirl even after all these years. Skyhooks were my band in the 70's and I'll never forget them.

  • UNIQUE BAND!

  • @SKYHOOKSFAN

    SO TRUE

Who can make a song like this??

    It's geniouses, it's

    so 70:s

    Love IT!!!!!

  • i miss shirl soo much. never forgetten.

  • First song played on JJ back in the AM days.. this was their reunion or as it was billed "The Second Coming" brilliant performers.

  • great band and top song...ahhh,,, the 70;s...I want to go back....

  • Great Aussie Song for a Great Aussie Day Like 2Day 26th January 2010 Cheers Red Greg Bongo Freddie and the Voice Shirl is RIP, Kickass today Boys... Long Live Skyhooks xx 2J..

  • I just like u coz u give good H--D

  • RIP SHIRL AND GO RED!

first saw those two on tv back in the 90s on channel 9. it's great having a look at this part of their careers before going on channel 9

  • I bought their LP coz of this song. I thought they were just a once and done LP group. This is one of my all time favorite songs.

  • lol best band and one of there best songs. RIP Shirl

  • Yeah very odd and good! (by European eyes)

    Really like their lyrics...

    "Mercedes Ladies" anyone?

  • @MazterGuitarz Re Mercedes ladies - to my knowledge as a single that was US only. It was a gr8 track though . (as were all on the debut album ) Their lyrics were of the wall and funny. America had Flo and Eddie and Zappa and Yankovic we had The Skyhooks- ( and yes - Daddy Cool. ) Yes ABBA made it here - but for I think 24 weeks - Livin was the N0.1 national album. Replaced only by Ego . Go figure. Cheers for posting

  • Aussie Legends

    Long Live Aussie Music

  • skyhooks were an amazing band

    distinctive

    rebellious

    original

they didnt care, they just did it

    very tight musically

    some great songs and memories

    RIP SHIRL U LEGEND

  • I so agree, they were really the scribes of the day reflecting a change in attitudes and liberation of attitudes and opinion. The original great Australian rock band.

  • @meeeee1968 yes they were!!

  • ahhh reminds me of the good old days... Count Down!!! And of course Shirls neighbourhood!

  • Lol Now your bringing back memories!

  • @queentoni22

    hahaha shirls neighbourhoood

I used to send claude the crow my toenail clippings hahahahahahahaha

  • excellent aussie band

    R.I.P. Shirl ...

  • Never be another 'Hooks

Thanks for the great reminder of how much fun it was.

  • I'm glad they act like they know it's all a barrel of laughs. The lead singer reminds me of Will Ferrel. Thanks fly...

  • So loved the Skyhooks!!!

  • Quote Red Symons: "The Only Member of Skyhooks who can play his instrument well..... Like, REALLY well is Freddie (Freddie Strauks on drums)"

  • The Drummer had a very original style. Saw him at billy Hydes one day picking up some gear.

  • Look at how much fun the guys were having, must have been a great night!

  • Saw these guys at Korrumburra festival with Madderlake and Kush....... Fantastic....

  • Envy you, never saw them live, lived in Europe in the 70:s, but it's so nize to able to see them now at Youtube...(Still have the 3 first LP:s on vinyl)

think they're one of the originals (Aussie) groups from the 70:s , there were more of course,

but I think that era was special in many ways,

(not only 'cause I was young(er) then)

Maybe not so commercial point of views

    just good muzic ??

  • They were unique no one played or ever has played music like this... visually awesome..technically awesome...sang about Melbourne suburbs....a surfer and builder as a lead singer.... Aussie dreammm

  • Yeah, you just love me 'cause I'm good in bed..

(..And I still like women in uniform..)

  • I just liked him because he was freaking gorgeous RIP Shirl you are a legend.

  • red one of most underated guitarist along with malcom young and angels lead guitarist rick breswter

  • i had no idea tha red was such a good guitar player

  • hahahaha oh RED what big muscles u have.....hahaha

  • Oh yes please!!!!

  • r.i.p shirl..

  • thx for posting,great par-tay song

  • Reminds me of the good old days at the Dover Hotel in Carlton.

  • If he "was", past tense. For those who are just discovering this band and might not already be aware, Graham "Shirl" Strachan (the lead singer of Skyhooks) was killed in a helicopter crash on the 29th of August 2001. He is sadly missed but left behind a wonderful legacy. RIP SHIRL!

  • Shirl is the best!! I still miss him! <33 SKYHOOKS ROCK FOREVER <3

  • Thanks much for the video!! Must've been fun to hear preadolescents sing this from the audience, but I guess they grew up by 1984, eh?

    Skyhooks STILL rule!

  • the trousers!
