@paublo84 Definitely Agreed. The back half of far beyond driven is fuckin amazing. slaughtered, hard lines, shredding skin, use my third arm, throes of rejection, are you kidding me?? AND strength beyond strength and becoming on the front half? Fuckin stacked cd if you ask me.
god i wish they wouldve continued and phil wouldve destroyed every other screamer vocalist out there. he belts em out like their fuckin nothin!!! not to mention he can actually sing.
This is probably the most brutal and fucking wicked time of Pantera .. I know they were about to break up at this time .. but I mean their music became so fucking twisted!! :O PANTERA FOREVER STRONGER THAN ALL!!! RIP DIMEBAG!
I love Pantera, but I will say THIS: Even though Phil's heroin addiction damaged his health and relationship with the guys as well as change Pantera forever, it made the music fuckin HEAVIER
@IndubitableTrapezoid Thats a stupid thing to say, why would heroin addiction change the music, for a start Phil doesn't write the music Dime did, and he wasn't on herioin, his vocal style did get heavier but how do you know it was because of heroin? He could've changed his style just because he wanted to and that was probabaly nothing to do with heroin
@mwelliott123 Uhhh no. Listen to his interviews back in the CFH days then the ones years later when he's clearly drugged the fuck up on whatever opiates he could get his hands on and even today when he's sober. BIG difference.
@moneyequalspower what the fuck has that got to do with the music? I said why do did that top comment guy just assume that becase he was on heroin, thats the reason they got heavier? maybe they just wanted to get heavy as a group.
Or maybe you're just too fucking stupid to realize that what we are saying could actually hold alot of validity... His drug use changed his voice, made it MUCH deeper and in turn the songs they played transformed into much heavier sounding tunes. Quit being a little dumbass dipshit mormon faggot about it. "maybe they just wanted to get heavy as a group." HAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHA moron.
@IndubitableTrapezoid I'm not sure about that, to be honest. Phil wrote very little of the music. Maybe the resulting tension in the band made the music heavier. Tension often does that.
@45thundertrain Fuck yes it did. Phils lyrics getting darker and full of hate and his voice getting deep as fuck and sounding almost gutteral, and his mindset changing and leading the band into crazier territory = Southern Trendkill and Reinventing the Steel, heaviest Pantera albums. You can definitely trace all that back to the heroin.
@warlockmetal1 The lyrics part I understand but heroine does not make your voice deeper smoking ciggarettes and whiskey do, he also blew out his voice on the CFH tour that is why there is no falsettos featured on VDOP. I also think far beyond driven is much heavier than reinventing the steel.
@45thundertrain The whiskey, smoking, painkillers, heroin, and methadone all contributed to Phils voice. Heroin DOES have an effect on vocal cords.
I doubt Phil blew his voice on CFH. Ther reasoned he abandoned falsetto was so he can move into heavier territory with Vulgar and everything after. We wasnt going to use falsetto no matter what.
RTS is their heaviest album to me. Nothing is heavier than It Makes Them Dissappear, Goddamn Electric, I'll Cast a Shadow, Grind that Axe, and Yesterday'.
yeah the dvd is absolute SHIT. DONT buy it, the footage quality and audio is absoloute dribble, no effort or care went into it. its a shame as the show looks good. they just slapped the footage onto dvd compressed. nothing had been done to fix the picture or audio.
hell ya good metal

@MusicJamin330 its not d tuning, its standard 1/2 step down
Teebonesky 3 months ago
@Teebonesky No, it's actually D standard tuned a 1/4 step down. If it was a 1/2 step down, it would be Eb and it's clearly not.

I miss old metal, mainly because the drums always used gated reverb. I mean, really! Listen to that snare! Love it
