i remember when i first started watching colin's videos.i had no idea what he was saying because his accent was so thick, now i can understand every word. learned to love that accent ;P beautiful over there.
Holy COW that is an awesome cairn. I love how people have made wind shelters into the sides of it, very cool. Have certainly been hearing about the crazy winds in Scotland on the news, stay safe out there Col!
Nice to see more vids Colin, glad you had a good new year!
@Smith28Adventure Hi Smith, yeah the cairn is huge. The winds have died down a bit for a few weeks ago. Still windy on the hills though. Thanks my friend, take care.
That cairn is amazing, I've never seen anything like that size. Strange to see you so rugged up, it is stinking hot and humid here and quite the heat wave. I'd much prefer the cold. Happy New Year to you Colin.
@AussieMark909 Yeah its a very impressive cairn. I think it had been built up over many years. Well today I was out again and it was even colder lol. The wind is just relentless. But I. like you Mark, would rather have the cold than a heatwave. Hope it cools down for you soon. Happy New Year.
Colin, Looks like a great day to hike and the scenery is breath taking. I too have been hiking and snowshoeing trying to stay in shape and getting a head start on the season. Good to see you out and about and showing us the beautiful country side there. Keep up the good work my friend!!
@badvoodoodaddy1 Thanks my friend, yeah its great to get out into the hills. Sounds like you are having a great time snowshoeing, Something I would love to give a try in the future.
glad to see you back doing what you enjoy. Quick question about the stones. How far away were they quarried and what's the signifigance of them? Were they to mark territory or did they have some sort of religous meaning or am I on the wrong path here?
@351xb1973 Hi Paul. I am not sure of the details of the history. I think the rocks where picked up at the base of the hill and carried to the top. I will do some research into the subject I suspect is pretty interesting.
Nice views up there Collin, I wish my hike I posted had open country like that so I could have seen more than just what was around me.....LOL. Thanks for sharing. Take Care my friend :-))
Ever thought of doing Merrick in Dumfriesshire? I tried it 5 years aback and was beaten by clouds. Anyhoo, with all of that walking maybe you should do ham radio and do the SOTA competition. You would have had the Mountain Goat award by now.
@WHNorthcote Yeah its on my lists of hills to do. Need to take some time off and explore the area some time. Thanks my friend, Happy New Year to you as well.
@ColinOutdoors Let me know what the top is like. Never got there due to some strange formation called clouds. Also there is a oldish hut half way up in the forest so nice place to stay if it pours with rain.
Beautiful view... Id like to dig down an get one of the earlier stones placed there, cool piece of history. And ive always wanted to know, hows the fishing over there? or do you fish at all?
@KAPichon Thanks my friend, yeah I bet there are some cool things buried in the cairn. I don't fish I am afraid. But I think there are many good fishing areas :-)
@Optionsaregood Happy New Year my friend. Glad you go out hiking over the festive period and had fun. Hopefully the weather improves, that wind was bitterly cold.
Happy New Year! Thanks for sharing your journey... always great to see a new vid from you - Wow; what a gorgeous view and such rich history... bet there are some great stories about that place... Cuiridh mi clach air do chàrn! Cheers -
@hazeywolf Happy New Year to you too my friend. Yeah its a great location. Some really interesting features. Hopefully next time I will explore a bit more.
Happy new year, Colin! In the area of Ontario I live, there isn't a lot of this kind of landscape around. I wish there was, I think my kids would like to hike when they get a bit older.
@Naturliebe Hi Tito. A very Happy New Year to you too. Yeah it was a fun hike. Chilly wind kept me going. Yeah great views from the summit. Take care my good friend.
Nice adventure. Amazing history in that location. Looks very cold with constant wind, fortunately you dressed appropriately and looked dapper in that cinched-down hood :).
@inquisitivewolf Hi Larry, Happy New Year to you too my friend. Yeah it has some interesting history, hopefully I will investigate more next time. The wind was bitterly cold lol. Very glad of the hood. :-) Take care
