It's great to see someone else with the same kind of passion for this work of art that can create works of art, the Polaroid SX-70. Over the years I have taken hundreds of pictures and have recently started digitizing and archiving them. I will check out your site.
I have an SX-70 camera coming in on Tuesday, I will have 3 Polaroid cameras at that point. SX-70, Onestep Closeup, and the Pogo (Which isn't from the OLD Polaroid company, I want to add.) After getting a GL30, when it comes out, I want to make an online gallery with both the classic cameras, and the newer ones. In the gallery, no direct from digital will be uploaded, I MUST work will the prints only. I heard Zink film can still be worked after printing, so that will be fun too.
@SgtplagIVIaIV Nope. SX70 do not accept fujifilm. The only fujifilm that you can use in Polaroids are the 100-400 land camera series. Those cams uses peel apart film. You can try getting the Impossible Project film for your SX70 but the price is a bit steep and it is still in experimentation phase.
@crstnprd its not impossible, but recoating the chrome part is gonna really hard, i dont know how to do it, but if you have any car moding friends, they might know what to do.
Some of my friends call the Fuji Instax a Polaroid camera and it irks me to no end. They don't KNOW what the different is between a Fuji Instax and a Polaroid, and it makes me so mad because all they care about is the fact that they 'look cool'. They'll go on and on about how they want a Polaroid "so bad!" and when I tell them they should get a Fuji instead, they say "that's what I meant!"
No, you don't. Research before you talk about something you don't understand!
polaroid made the instant 300 :3 im getting one. and btw though this question doesnt relate to a polaroid, do you know any sites that sells a Diana Instant Back?
I LOVE YOU MANNNNN!!! The point you made at the beginning is just...... right. When people uploaded an ablum called polaroid, i got excited to see polaroid photos, but actually, they were never the polaroid film but the fuji instax!!!!! And more strangely, they love photography. I got your feeling. TOTALLY RIGHTTTT!! you are aweomse!
hey mijonju, nice video =]. You know how you open the sx-70 by pulling up on the front of the viewfinder, shouldnt pull up from the back end where the grip is? it stops the black viewfinder shields from ripping from the top part if you accidently pull too hard and opens alot smoother in 1 step. I used to open your way but got too enthusiastic one day...............you can imagine the rest
Lots of products are known by the names of companies that created them, or are the leading brands of that product type. Vacuum cleaner = a Hoover. Ball point pen = a Biro. and to some people an Instant photo = a polaroid.
@heron1991 true, like how we call staplers here hotchkiss :)
ya, but I just got fed up from the over flow of people asking me if the sx-70 works with instax and if the SD card could be fit into the flash bar socket... so ya..
hey mijonju, i actually saw some taiwan people modify the flim box of the SX-70 to put in a instax photo haha...personally i dont think it's a good way to take pictures~ but it's actually possible==
polaroidlove.blogbus.com/logs/52250315.html
anyway SX70s are great cameras!!! ppl mix up instant photos and polaroid probably because polaroid was so iconic to everyone in the instant photo industry..so it maybe a good thing so don't be so annoyed dude haha
@davidyeah polaroid integral films are a little special, because of the use of mirrors, the film is usually reversed :) so if you put an instax film in, the image will be reversed, because the instax images are usually from direct imaging. from lens, so its just reversed once, but on the Integral films they are reversed then reversed again because of the mirror. but thanks for the info :)
I saw a sx-70 at a Swap Meet (flea market) the other day and I regret buying it. :[ I felt dumb because I managed to open it but couldn't close it. bahaha.
@Sirilloh could you close it now? i think if you put an empty pack in it might slam the mirror back, i think its stuck in the middle now. look for an empty pack and put it in, run the motor once, it might work again
@vans1170 wo! ive seen people use a used polaroid 600 back, slice it up and shove it in some other camera, but the image will be reversed :) but thats cool aswell :)
People in the US especially that aren't film nerds do call instant photos polaroids, it's just one of those things where a company has such dominance in a market that people refer to the type of product by that companies name. Like many people call a cola drink Coke, or a tissue kleenex, or a photocopy a xerox, or an internet search "googling". Plus Fuji instax was never as popular as Polaroid in the US and Kodak only made the film for like 6 years until Polaroid sued them off the market.
@Bloop586 true true, i guess its hard to make everyone look at things seriously sometimes, haha just wanted express myself a little, got nothing against anything or anyone.
i absolutely hate it when people say that an instax picture is a polaroid too! I correct them all the time. I've got an instax and adore it, but POLAROID is totally different! It's beauty is on a whole new level. >:|
@LOMOLOVE21 I love both just as you do, but its just sad to hear people spreading things that are not polaroid and calling polaroid, they need to respect fujifilm too..
I bought an SX-70 not two weeks ago and I love it! <3 such a lovely camera. But I can't afford to keep buying film, so it's going to be sitting dormant a lot. :(
And lol at your mini-rant at the beginning xD I used to call all instant film Polaroid film, but then I wasn't aware that Fuji and Kodak made them as well. I even thought that the square format [600, 100] was the only type available. I guess it's the most memorable, so when people think of instant film, they think of Polaroid.
@Vinvolve I've bought two packs of Impossible film, and it's been great fun, but now I have to save my money for university and such :( plus £12 for shipping is a lot! :(
@chocomental We'll its alright I dont really blame them, but the twitter feed about polaroid is killing me, thats why i got pissed at that moment, I feed the world Polaroid from my tweetdeck, so whenever someone says "polaroid" a tweet will pop out, /
and most of the time, when they say, OH Check out my polaroid! and i click on that twit pic, its a fuji min cheki 24 or 7s.. thats when i just pop.
lol, i didn't know that the right way was to pull up the front part of the view finder first followed by the back. Instead I just pulled straight up from the back.
@1Coltorti1 get those silica gel and get an air tight box to keep it and it should be solid for a long long time.
the shot i took at the beginning is a little blur cause the exposure time was around 2 seconds, i tried very hard not to breath. and that photo came out.
hi do you know where i can get an sx-70???

@Mijonju I have seen the Polaroid SX-70 Alpha 1 on Ebay for good prices....It says Alpha 1 at the front of the camera below
Polaroid
SX-70 Land Camera
Alpha 1
Have you had any experience with this model. It looks identical to your SX-70 in design apart from this additional text at the front of the camera
Appreciate your reply to this query.
