It's rather disrespectful to hear the hardcore ECW fans are in New York. ECW did not start in New York. ECW is not a New York product. ECW is a Philadelphia product. Philadelphia is where the ECW fans live and breathe. While very small scale of people actually saw the original ECW on a weekly basis. And I'm talking about before TNN. ECW did not fail cause of lack of fan support or the lack of a weakened product. it Failed because of poor business decisions by its second owner, Paul Heyman.

WCW kicked the crap out of them during the first phase of Monday Night Wars, but WCW ruined themselves because of shenanigans. And ECW? They got a huge cult following until today and their weekly show got the highest rating on TNN (now Spike TV, fuck them btw). WWE can easily lose their fanbase during slumps and you can check their recent shows' ratings to get what I want to say

WHY OH WHY, it worked in 1994 till 2001. And it could work again, I think fans love hardcore, non PG bs, where the guys kick ass, bleed, sweat like it should be, And i mean im not saying that in this kind of promotion you cant have guys who want to put on wrestling classics, BUT the option to do anything would be present.

@supersinghish What made ECW the best was great storylines and great wrestlers, the hardcore stuff was just the icing on the cake. WWE has moronic storylines that more often than not get derailed (or dropped altogether) halfway through, and while they do have great wrestlers, they're forced to work the slow, safe, boring "WWE style." That and the fact that marketable wrestlers (some of whom are very good, some of whom are awful) get pushed over talented wrestlers.

Man these guys could actually "wrestle". I used to love going to events and everyone would go mental for good moves and bumps. It wasn't just the violence (which was awesome), but is was an appreciation of the sport and event that made ECW so different than anything I have seen.
