does the iphone always pick up ur gps position that quick, coz i have a n97 mini and the gps is pretty much a waste as it takes FOREVER to get my position
No turn by turn navigation, always for the use to GPS de device will connect to wifi,it`s not customizable than Nokia is...that`s why Iphone are behind Nokia N95...but its a nice phone in a future will be maybe better than Nokia...today is far behind, good job either IphoneNuts, greetings from Argentina!
Oh, OK. But if I'm on the road and not connected to the Internet through my carrier, will the GPS navigation still work, based on those previously downloaded maps? I really appreciate your reply!
Well eventually the maps you downloaded are saved in a cache, but not a very big map area is saved. Eventually in a few seconds you'll drive far enough where you won't have maps. You really need the internet connection to fully use the GPS feature sadly. I hope a true turn by turn app will come
Well at the moment all of your maps will be downloaded automatically if you use the iPhone Maps application. I was talking about if they come out with a turn by turn navigation app that they might have preloaded maps on that app. But if you just use your iPhone Map app right now it will automatically load the maps for wherever you are.
Nice video. Really informative. I'm not very knowledgable in the area myself. I am considering purchasing an iPhone 3G and was wondering if you can get free internet at home if you already have a wireless router?
You either have to have EDGE or 3G signal to download maps. GPS works without a cell tower signal but maps won't load without EDGE or 3G. An application with preloaded maps should be coming!
Well you usually get a data plan when you buy an iPhone, and that's either $20 for the 1st iPhone or $30 for iPhone 3G. Those are unlimited data plans so technically you do pay for GPS, but it's a flat fee not everytime you use it. You may use unlimited GPS as long as you pay the either $20, or $30 dollar monthly fee.
just came across your videos. finally good videos that aren't annoyingly shaky with some punk moron fumbling his words because he/she has no idea what they're talking about. keep up the good work, i'll be subscribing.
Thank you for the awesome comment n3tfury. I'm very glad I could help. We can't be iPhone nuts without knowing everything we can about it! Haha, thanks for subscribing. I hope you come by the site. Look forward to hearing more from you.
Great points there Masafa. It uses cell tower and wifi if possible to speed up the GPS locater. They say it can take about 20 seconds for GPS by itself. I hope they get all of this figured out by the time Nav software comes to the iPhone. Thanks for the comment.
You probably have, it's a widely available royalty free song. I'm sure it uses some of Apple's loops that are in Garageband and Logic. I don't know the name of the song though, haha.
No sir/mam, The maps will load over EDGE or 3G networks. I'm hoping when navigation software comes to the iPhone that the maps will be preloaded. Then the phone will only rely on GPS signal. Thanks for the comment
No problem, check out our other videos and the website if you're interested in more iPhone info. I'll make sure the next videos are easier heard. Thanks for the feedback!
you need to keep your phone in sky visibility to get proper gps signal

cant you get a software for msn maps? they are 100 times better and have more roads... and have better images and 3d
polzowatel 3 years ago
Well since Google and Apple have a great relationship, no MSN Maps unless MSN makes their own app for that.
iPhoneNuts 2 years ago
you know that sucks because msn maps are the best when u travel in europe.. i have htc touch hd, that thing can run anything
polzowatel 2 years ago
hey this is maps... & It works great too, whenever im trying to put my current location it says "your current location could not be determined..."
do i have to be inside a car to do this?
KingOfKingsTube 3 years ago
actually sometimes a car will hinder your GPS signal. Keep trying to get your current location found. It'll work eventually

yea I agree iphone is okay, but not worth it. no blue tooth, very important, and no speaker
marvininniss 3 years ago
In the next generation of iPhones turn by turn will be there! thanks for the kind words
iPhoneNuts 2 years ago
will there be voice and stuff?
i se alot of trouble of garmin, magellen, and tomtom if its implemented
and if its free
its just that the network doesnt work that well, so you would still need preloaded map data
which apple should do+
i would give up like 2 gp out of a 16gb to have dedicated free maps

I tested the gps in my 3g iphone and here what I can say.
very powerful gps tracker needs few seconds to find my location even indoors.
if you want the iphone to follow you all the time you have to push my location button (bottom left)
the maps always heading north during the drive which is not good.
the phone locks after one min (in my phone coz of my setting) it can be changed but i'm not sure about the back light.
doesn't take the best roads for a long drive.
I say, not reliable yet.

i had a question... does google maps recalculate the route if you go off the suggested one?
anandr 3 years ago
google maps at the moment won't recalculate the route. Hopefully it will soon

not yet, if a company like TomTom brings their software to the iPhone it will be just like using a TomTom GPS unit.

i what to know if the is a software that do gps not google maps with a preload map on the iphone 3g
