Hey man... sorry i'm so late on this, i really need your help atm. I'm stuck with a little problem regarding the curve we're using in this video. Mine wont stay straight unfortunately, therefore, when i go to straightening out my first curve and placing it, the next time i push E, my line ends up curved, any tip to fix that would be awesome... :D
Okay so I don't have a center mouse button and I know that you can go to user preferences and emulate 3 button mouse then use ATL to move around and pan but how would you go about zooming in with emulate 3 button mouse on?
A nice refresher; however I have one question: when moving the cursor toward the edge of the view window, how do you keep it from just getting stuck at that edge or corner of that window (i.e. when you move the cursor all the way to the right side of the window, it reappears at the same height on the left side)? I assume its in the preferences, but do you know off the top of your head?
I have some trouble with blender because Im a beginner. When I am trying to model something in edit mode I go into the 3d mode to see how th model is coming out. I dont know how to get back to modeling and get the picture back. Help?
@13jechozilla Press the TAB button to enter *Edit* mode, which will allow you to select each of the corner (vertices)
If that's not the problem, once in edit mode, three little cubes, one with one of the faces highlighted, appear in the bottom sidebar (not the one under the Timeline). Click on the first one, and you should be done.
Thanks A lot, your vids are just what ive been looking for. Step by step breakdowns of the program. I am only 14 but Ive been wanting to learn how to 3d model for years and this is exactly what i need. Right on and keep on going!
Thank you so much for your tutorials, I am looking forwards to the rest. I have spent a few hours playing around with SGR+E XYZ keys, just to get comfortable with it. tinyurl com/3sly4ma
The 1st image is a piller with a hollow inside narrowing into a needle passage link. This was a great way of learning the Extrude function and messing around with scaling. The vase in the 2nd pic is made similar. The dog is using Extrude + a tool called Subdivide i have come to like
when i render a map i made it seems shiny and it seems to turn parts of the image white is there a way to stop that from happening?
can you bring a previous render and place it on a current render like say i make a rock can i take it and put it on a map i made previously?
what are the little blank buttons on the control bar for? i see that they take you to a new layer but what is the application for them can you make a land on one a tree on another and then bring them together later?
This might be minor, but I gotta say -- I love that you have the yellow ball around your mouse. I've seen a few video tutorials that don't have it, and it's annoying to try to see where they are clicking on the menus, etc. Thanks.
I'm subbing you for sure. I swiched to the new version of blender, but since I'm unfamiliar with the interface, I sorta got a little bit lost. (Very lost.) Now I have to relearn these stuff.
It's okay though, the new version seems easier to use once I get the hang of it.
i have a really tough time using online textures to texture things like guns could you do like a tutorial for that or direct me to a realy specific video
I am not new to Blender, but 2.5 really is diffirent from the earlier versions. It kinda scarred me at first but thanks to your first tutorial I can now find everything I need. Thanks a lot and keep up the good work!
I don't know when I was messing with it or what. but ever time I go to move the box with G there is still another box that's still there. even when i hit new project or whatever. i didn't hit shift-D for duplicate nither. Help me fix this:(
I am working on a modelling project and am having problems in the edit mode. I want to select certain vertexes on both sides of the object but when. I use "B" so select them it only does the one side. Is there a way that i could select both sides??
When I select a face and press g, it will grab the whole geometry that face is part of, instead of extruding at first. I have to press e first to extrude, then cancel it with right click, then g gets me the "global direction" extrude.
This leads me to wonder, when I initialize an extrusion and then cancel it with right click, that face isn't really returned to a "flat" state on the object. It's primed for an extrusion, right?
How do I fully cancel the extrude for future reference?

Hello Chad, I wanted to encourage you a bit. I have been working in the 3D modeling industry for 5 years now, and starting out blender was nearly impossible to find resources for. Really great tutorial series you have going on, props to you!
@FEenergy I really appreciate your comment. I know what you mean. When I first picked up blender there were literally ZERO training resources out there. That's why I started Firechild Video. So others wouldn't be as stuck as the rest of us were in the early days. It truly humbles me that a fellow professional in the field would enjoy my work. I am quite honored. Thank you.
@firechildc Thankyou so much for these videos, this complicated program is slowly starting to make sense thanks to you :) I do have one question, what do i do if my laptop does not have a number pad? Aren't they used in shortcuts?
Might be worth mentioning that along with the x, y and z axis hotkeys (while transforming), you can transform along TWO axes simultaneously, by holding shift+x, shift+y, or shift+z. Additionally, if you want to scale/rotate/move the object by local axis rather than the global axis, hit xx, yy, or zz. Great tutorial! +Like
is it posible when we use scale, grab and rotate command to see gizmo?Than when we use gizmo to manipulate with object?
Becouse i cant every time use x,y,z to manipulate in one direction!
Sry for bad English:D

Another handy Short cut for manipulation after pressing on key G, S, R:
PRESS MIDDLE MOUSE BUTTON for Automatic Axes Selections
(in stead of pressing key X,Y,Z to choose your axe)
It's a bit more intuitive
