I think Terry's truly up there with Ryu in terms of iconic, inspirational characters.

He's every bit Ryu's counterpart for SNK, even including Kyo from KoF (who's main character status fluctuated on and off, whereas Terry was in KoF every single year purely on fan demand).

Amusingly, he was originally based off of Ken Masters of Street Fighter. He developed a LOT though.

His moves are different from Ken's, but he has most of the generic Shotoclone movements.

In personality, they're close to identical, especially early one: tall, blonde-haired blue-eyed American loud-mouthed kind of accidentally rude boxers who are nonetheless highly charismatic and make a lot of friends.

Later on, Terry's rudeness was toned down, instead making him a kind of easygoing badass.

Also his "Americaness" is played up more, hence his endless Engrish dialogue

It's the same company, SNK Playmore.

Originally KoF game were just an excuse to have all their coolest fighting game characters in one game.

After the first game though they developed a storyline, beginning with Kyo Kusanagi and the Orochi Saga).

FF though and KoF share the same characters, but do NOT take place in the same timeline.

The FF timeline stars with the Art of Fighting games (takes place in the late 70's/80's), FF (takes place in the 90's), and Garou (00's).

I swiped a bootleg copy of this at a games convention in Orlando about 14 years ago. When we opened the case all it was was a blank video cassette and we thought it was bunk. Good to finally see it again in all it's cheesy glory.

when i saw this back in 1995, i just started getting into fatal fury and King of fighters. My first choice on fatal fury 2 was kim kaphwan so i was happy to see him and terry have a great fight here in the first 7 minutes. It was short but the fight was very well done. I hated how terry became an alcoholic in this film. glad he snapped out of it
