  • He looks so young here!

    God bless him.

  • Wow. It's od seeing him without the mustache.

  • ohhhh Rich ...you were the best .

  • Donald Glover reminds me soo much of this Richard Pryor whereas Chris Rock the later Richard Pryor, scary just how influential one man can be.

  • Donald Glover??? or Childish Gambino, if you perfer???

  • Interesting how sex was taboo on TV then, but smoking wasn't. Fewer illegitimate kids = more lung cancer.

  • He looks like a young Bob Marley.

  • @1985440RAM Lol, that's true!

  • @1985440RAM

he's black too, if that's what you mean.

  • @maternalbanjo WHAT!YOU STUPID FUCK!

  • The greatest comedian ever alive, recorded just a few days before his 26th birthday.

  • Richard paved the way for trash talking comedians today!!

  • @bigd53224 along with george carlin

  • @bigd53224 I guess you don't remember Lenny Bruce circa 1955. He was the first ever stand up comedian to be arrested for using the word c*ocksucker on stage.

  • You know, although I have to admit that it IS kinda weird seeing Richard without his trademark moustache (and his profanity, for that matter! LOL!), you can still see the beginnings of his actually putting a lot of acting into his stand up performances, you know what I mean?

  • my mans an'nem to fly!!!! LOL (Hood voice)

  • This is the definition of swag.

  • He was surprisingly good-looking without the mustache.

  • @JeffersonDinedAlone that's okay you never did anything he thought was funny either

  • @blunderboy1964 Ha Haa, that was a good one Blunder!

  • lool.

  • THE REAL KING OF COMEDY..NOT THAT FAKE ASS STEVE HARVEY WHO DONT DO SHIT..

  • I logged in just to say i love Pryor. That is all

  • you can tell its not the 70's yet, i think a moustache would realy work for him, lol

  • holy crap he's adorable.

  • The entire time I was watching this, I kept expecting to hear a curse word come out of his mouth lol...but I had to keep reminding myself this was family television. To me, it's not really Richard Pryor unless curse words come flying out haha!

  • Great comedian, but I still think George Carlin takes the cake

  • so far, out of all i've seen him do, this is my favorite one

  • What times!

  • I like him clean. This was very funny to me.... I love silly stuff though, so I'm sorta easily amused, but also amused by stuff others think is just dumb... maybe I'm just weird. Oh well.

  • Seeing him without a moustache is so weird!

  • @Lotum4n What in the name of fuck are you talking about?

  • WOW people were well-dressed in those days. That suit is so sharp!

  • There were three comedians Richard admired. Bill Cosby, Redd Foxx ,and Dick Gregory. Pryor took it to another level.

  • @KingMellow11 And did he take it to another level. A level that other comedians have tried to emulate, Pryor was truly the best.

  • Thumbs Up if you think he looks like Donald Glover aka Childish Gambino

  • Pryor's earl y years of comedy before his start using all the swears and "N" words. lol!! Just before be created Mudbone.

  • Wow, that was great! Clean or filthy, I love Pryor!!

  • Kickass suit, especially the lining of the jacket...!

  • @StandAndDigIt yeah man! suits back then had style. suits today are boring, baggy and bland.

  • With all due respect, I assume you never met Ed, nor was ever invited by him to appear on his show. Ed did not b-list Mason. The industry did. Mason refused to defer to the acting producer when given the signal to stop his performance. Mason KNEW that what he was doing was unforgiveable & unwisely continued overtime, using valuable stage NATIONAL stage time prescheduled for others on that fateful day. The last time I was with Mason I was working borscht the belt in PA circa 1993.

  • This man was really cool.

  • I don't remember this show. in my defence i was only 6 moths old when it aired.

  • His crisp delivery and perfect timing was more of a mix between Flip Wilson and Bill Cosby. This was 1966 and that style and timing is classic, still holds up today, it just depends on the audience, host and all the comics who set the tone for the room before you take the stage.

  • hes funny when hes clean like this

  • omg i never seen him sooo young i didnt know that he had been famous that long....he is one sexy man lolz =)

  • LMAO He eats the cig!!!

  • 22 people are either racist or have no sense of humour what so ever.

  • legend

  • Richard Pryor not swearing, that's like a Dictionary with no words!

  • you are ignorant not to put you on blast but that was ghetto and just stupid.

  • you are ignorant not to put you on blast but that was ghetto and just stupid

  • nigga just lit up a J. NICE!

  • This was filmed on my birthday! That's pleasing.

  • watching this really reminded me of Krama from Seinfeld (Micheal Richard's character) You can defiantly tell Pryor probably had an impact on Micheal Richard's psychical type of comedy

  • he wore the first slim tie

  • Love that man. He broke down barriers many thought would stand forever.

  • But then-"....this is 1975!Boy!Getcho shit togetha!"

  • how jokes both top comments are about age/year when it says it at 0:07

step 2: wikipedia richard pryor for DOB

    step 3: do math

    result: he was 26

  • Look how skinny he is. So many people are THIN when they are young, then they reach 55 and so many out of shape and fat and just give-in.

    .

    Very sad...

  • lol where the fuck did that come from?

  • While Richard Pryor was doing Cosby-style material on TV appearances and places like the Latin Casino and Vegas showrooms, he did the raunchy comedy he ultimately made his name with in black "chittlin' circuit" clubs simultaneously.

  • The key to his hilarity was the moustache.

  • Obama

  • with out the swearing he has to be carefull here,, he is so funny when he is free to say what he wants ,, awesome awesome cat ,, GOD BLESS YOU MAN,,xx

  • Reminds me of Donald Glover.

  • The greatest comedian I ve ever seen!!

  • He looks like a weasle w/out the mustache

  • you sound like one you cunt

  • @spadge321 LOL! are you crying now? Did I hurt your feelings?LOL

  • 1:00 thats some lining

  • Richard Prior without a moustache is like koolaid without the sugar and you this maaaaaannnn

  • Right up there with the best of the best. Rodney was my favorite.

  • Love Richard, he made amazing racial jokes. It's sad how people whine about racial jokes now a day... Fucking hell, I'm white, ridicule me but let me ridicule you. Simple, rofl.

  • He was 26 years old. RIP Rich!!

  • "...who's the strange kid over there feeling his body?"

  • that was good :D

  • That African-American is crazy.

  • My boyfriend is German and Lebanonese and LOVES him! You da MAN, Rich! :) ~Sarah~

  • I just realized....he kind of resembles Kid Cudi.

  • Nice suit!

  • OMG! No mustache

  • At 2:42 is Richard Nixon.

  • What are MATCHES?

  • snops?

  • @JesseTheMindless

Schnapps- a strong liquor... My favorite is peach tree...

  • @johnnysocco3 I don't care for it, really. I tried it once.

  • Troy from the tv show Community looks kinda like him.

  • This is the G rated Richard Pryor. Somewhere between 1967-1971 He began to achieve his Genius. He came into his own, was no longer like Bill Cosby. I love Bill Cosby, but Mr.Pryor exposed his nervous system for all to see, that is the most courageous thing any one artist can achieve. Richard Pryor is the Marlon Brando,Charlie Parker of stand up comedy. D.Platt

  • @stella3265 26 yrs ole

  • @stella3265 Bill Cosby is very original as well but I think Richard got a little of his style from Redd Foxx. At least the foul mouth bits which I understand Foxx did going back into the late 50s.

  • @stella3265 A really minor point, but I think Lenny Bruce is closer to the charlie parker of comedy. I would argue Pryor was less improvisational, or, at least, less defined by it. But I in no way disagree that he is legendary and brilliant.

  • @alteregoash Well Richard Pryor was the Marlon Brando of stand up comedy. Pryor improvised better than any stand up comic that I have seen, on video or in person. Bye

  • comedy is a learning carrier, while they laugh (audience) he is finding himself and growing into his mature self. it's a lot of hard work and a joke can take 3 months to develop. A great comedian, Richard found THE way to let himself out of his own restrictions, his funny is speaking his mind and he looks good from beginning to end Richard was Good medicine for a troubled world.

  • I'm guessing he had to have his act "cleaned up" before he could go on the show.

Well at least it got his name out there.

  • @TheNotoriousTOM This is before his act became what we know and love today, when he was still doing Cosby's style of comedy. It would be over the next 1-3 years after this that he changed into his mature style.

  • He so nerdy! I love it : )

  • haha lighting a smoke on a tv show today would FREAK motherfuckers out!

  • Pretty funny to me!

  • He def needs the stache!

  • wow I've never seen this before

  • he sucked before he found his negro self

  • @londondog1989 This is hilarious what are you talking about before he found his negro self?

  • Wow, richard looked really different when 1st started

  • this was 5 days before I came to this stupid planet.

  • @selimaazouri Did you even WATCH of his other videos?

  • dude thank god for you!!!!!!!! you set yhe path for them all

  • Wowza.. Ive only seen him when he's older.. this is pretty cool.

  • how old was he here? he looks 14

  • @D202116 rofl

  • @D202116 He's 25 in this video. (DOB: Dec.1,1940)

  • he looks like the guy from Derrick Comedy!!!!

  • @H2Ofreak345 -Damn you are right!

  • missing you hardowt

  • missy you hardowt

  • I can't believe he's dead...

  • looks like donald glover

  • Richard was one of the best comedians of our time. George Carlin was another one. Can't say that about too many.

  • And to think, if Ed Sullivan had known how off-color (if that's the right word) Richard Pryor would turn out to be, he would have blacklisted him so badly that the world would never have had that comedian to enjoy. What a strange world we live in.

  • @andyandymax A polite point of FYI: Ed Sullivan had very little influence, if any, regarding the guests. That was neither his job description nor his responsibility. He was the host, nothing more. That said, I do miss the show.

  • @somthinjustaintright - You've heard of a man named Jackie Mason? Ed Sullivan ruined his early career by blacklisting him, and he couldn't make a comeback for decades. Ed Sulivan was, in his heyday, the most powerful man in the entertainment industry. There is no question that he blacklisted people, and supported the anti-communist blacklist.

  • why is the audience sound so loud and richard's sound is so low?!

  • marlon wayans is gonna do a good job playin richard pryor thats my opinion

  • Man, fucking hilarious. I miss Richard. He was so funny, even when he did clean comedy like this.

  • right here he looks like that black kid from community.

  • ur an idiot u know nothing about the progression of the genius richard pryor.

  • why does he remind of OBAMA

  • My dad has Pryor on tape, cassette and VHS - that tells you how cool the brother was and always will be! :)

  • LMAO! who's the kid over there feeling his body! lmao

  • back in Rich's tryin-to-be-Cosby days...

then he found his own voice and style and just was himself

  • LOL he looks clean and fresh.

  • you can tell he was in his "Cosbyeqsue" mode right here. This is before he found himself

  • damn the richard pryor movie dumped mike epps....now it should dump marlon wayans...........holy crap.....donald glover should be pryor

  • pure genius!

  • that one was lame, I guess he didn't really open up untill the drugs started taking hold.

  • @dagooseapimp - HATER! Richard Pryor was a comical genius, stop trippin.

  • @DLSwan04 No, he was in his mid late 20's

  • @DLSwan04 He was born on December 1, 1940. If the appearance date listed above is correct, he is 3 days from turning 26 in this video.

  • those whispered gestures of his were such a trademark and so lovable

  • what the hell he put the cigeret in his mouth lol

  • Richard Pryor the best comedian that ever he lived.

im glad he changed it, without it then comedy would be boring.

  • cigarette fail

  • @catolog96 no man take that somewhere else

  • 2:45 what is richard doing??

  • @ThaWhiteMaori blowing a kiss with both hands

  • Kimps I still say immortal

  • one of the most funniest guys to ever walk the earth

  • He look similar to Donald Glover

  • @landova365 no he doesnt not even a bit

  • whichever path of comedy that rich would have taken he still would've been the greatest

  • You know comedy was so pg-13 back then, it was Richard Pryor that took it to another level!!! He saw the world for what it really was, a corrupt place of racism, junkies, bad police the whole nine yards, but he made it funny through his comedy...He's the greatest!!!

  • without the moustache he looks like bob marley

  • @turcofresh #FAIL

  • Rich looks like a college kid or something without his moustache. or at least crazy young

  • It say something as a black comedian, that ever one is laughing and it'
