  • I have a mindfulness guided meditation video on my channel!!Peace <3

  • appriciate!!!

  • adding to the spectrum of views; meditation as part of evolution, a forced process. Get the full cosmology, and then know where you're going, via your mind.

  • Get inspired!!! Join the revolution!!! Google search "Access Plus Opportunity Equals Achievements" or go to apoea.org

  • I am unable to post the link. But just search Dhamma in Google or igatpuri vipassana

  • Hello All

Also its a place where you will learn much more and a 10 day free course [with free food and stay there] you will learn the secret forever.

Thank you for uploading this video too.

  • I spent the first 10 years at school learning nothing. They definitely should have considered teaching this, to balance out the harm they did on me mentally. Of course, not in the way Philippe Goldin does here, but I'm sure people like him could find a way to do it, using some sort of games, mental challenges and exercises in gym class or something.

  • it took him 48 minutes to basically say stop thinking negative and focus on your breathing??

  • budha and shiva always shown in picture with meditation

  • can anyone tell me more videos on this subject because he says there only focusing on one part of the subject for this lecture

  • @beanodonnell

youtu. be / nasIq4E9nNg (remove the spaces)

This is more or less about buddhism. I don't know exactly what you wanted to see, but I quite liked this one. Also a Google Tech Talk.

  • Shinzen Young teaches the all very thoroughly and touches all bases via lectures and guided meditations in his product 'The science of enlightenment'. If you are interested in anything this gentleman is saying you will benefit vastly from Shinzens CD's. I have no stake or any benefits from saying this before anybody say's. Peace be with us all.

  • So this is where Charles Linden stole the "Linden Method" from.

  • Simple mindfulness practice throughout the day help ease the mind. It is recommended that Samadhi (concentration) should be practice to enhance and to support the mindfulness(Sati) practice. Mindfulness will not work to it efficiency level without concentration or Samadhi practice as I and others have experienced. Both should be practice together as @itamarberman said

  • I overcame OCD by doing behavior therapy on myself.

Fast forward six years and I have been blissfully practicing meditation for about two years. More than ever am I seeing parallels in my practice and my behavioral therapy done at the time of my sickness I truly felt like my life was hell on earth.

I applaud this video and look forward to hearing more.

  • @Fachh If you are having trouble with OCD yourself or any anxiety related disorder PLEASE contact me. I would love to help you. I have spent over a thousand hours practicing meditation and meditation related things.

  • Truly excellent and very relevant today than ever before

  • i just wanted to add i am an example when he talks about depression episodes and using mindfulness meditation as a therapy and even though i havent mastered this yet i am a lot more at peace and have much better patience and an overall better quality of life mentally and physically because of this. i also enjoy many things i' never had the courage to do before. thanks for this video as it helps give deeper insight on the mechanics! =)

  • Great talk! Thank You!

  • Let' start!!!

  • 28:11 they have located the minds eyes lol just kidding

  • Just for a moment my cell phone es 50765638514.

  • tl;dw (too long; didn't watch)

When nervous and/or in an anxiety state, focus on your breathing a.k.a meditate. When practicing this many times (couple of weeks/months) it becomes unconsciously automatic, thus greatly reducing (and even eliminating) social anxiety/phobia depending on how often the exercise is practiced.

  • Hi i,m not ridiculous but we need to talk by celullar phone.

  • Please call to my celular phone we need to talk.

  • I have my celular phone ready for a call please send me a message or email, call when you.

  • Hi i would like to get some information from you my cell phone is 50765638514 please call me there is no goverment in mind control.

  • This is worthy and functional in many ways. just go see Mr Charles Linden.

  • just listen again to his string of unrealted ideas and words. He is a master rapper crapper. but bless this audience who is trying so hard to follow and give him the benifit of the doubt. . s

So who is Sara BIzzar who did this .... experiment. Come on , Ask him a simple question would you guys and demand a coherent answer! Not coming

  • It is of course frivolous to presume that people from the east are in the habit of practising these techniques universally. These are Buddhist techniques of mind training, not islamic, zoroastrian, hindu or shinto. They are specifically Buddhist. The Eastern connection is superficial and incidental. There is nothing about a Pakistani muslim which has anything to do with this meditative process.

Training muscles or mind to be ''better'' at some activity is self evident, not mysterious.

  • Can Mindfulness Meditation relieve Aspergers Syndrome and or Dylexia????

  • @jjjones7ify Can and Does. :)

  • @jjjones7ify I think the challenge with treating a spectrum disorder with this technique is getting the patient to perform the treatment. I would love to see a study on this though, it could be a tremendously powerful change for the families.

  • @jjjones7ify no

  • Mindful meditation is DEADLY!! You can conquer the world with these techniques!!! its pure power!!!!

  • Every single cell in a human body has a mind portion meaning it can be controlled-by thought. Cayce said that any physical disorder is a consequence of sin. You can repair it by a positive thought and self forgiveness. Any life situation, whether in business or personal relationship keeps on repeating until a lesson is learnt. Accept that situation, walk away with love, not anger- that life program will be de-coded.

  • @RUSSKAYAG quite insightful

  • this was really good. ive done meditation before and it works.

but recently i havent...and i wasnt out of the woods.

anyway ive been extremely depressed and often thought of

taking a bus to see a morphine dealer and end my life.

sometimes i get social anxiety so bad i cant leave my room...

but yeah thanks for this video. its the only way im going to be able to live

  • I found it to be a little bit boring..no big eye openers for me. Thanks anyway.

  • This is so awesome, DBT was brought up today in my class... so interesting =]

  • on a personal level... this is such an eye opener

brilliant presentation. many many TNX to you P.Goldin

and TNX of course to google for the "world works"

    it's like a major revolution ...

  • The amydala pre/post MBSR is amazing! I would love to see a brain scan of a musician that plays very advanced technique music- while they are playing. Types of music- jazz, classical, salsa, funk very technically demanding and require mindfulness.

  • Very enlightening. Will use with my healing work with recovering addicts.

  • Life Changing.

  • This work is careful to avoid anything that has any connection to meaning, whether spiritual or emotional. All effort is in directing the attention away from the activity of the amygdala as if the amygdala is about as useful as an appendix - esp. in it's ability to detect something real. Inasmuch as you do not find a way to reintegrate this use of the amygdala back in, this will not be a permanent solution. Meaning happens. Deal with it.

  • thank you very much!!

  • guys voice at 44:50 is amazing. no homo

  • that should show all the religious types, that science acutely supports potential truths -eg things that have evidence, scientists on the other hand do not support all that wishy washy stuff!!

all the critics of science should think about it!

  • While I appreciate the value of scientific research, I wonder why it is so important for our society to understand and interpret everything through science, the Buddha's teachings for over 2500 years told us that meditation is the vehicle to happiness. Now science agrees.

  • @zazenfrax Its important because not every single belief of every culture is true. For instance some cultures believe that eating the flesh of another human being will give you their strength. Of course if you eat 20 guys you probably won't be able to lift a car over your head.

  • @zazenfrax I actually have a different perspective for you, zazenfrax. It is important for us to look at ancient truths thru a sci lens because for so long the scientific agenda has been to destroy anything real that is even remotely connected to spirituality and it's way past time to stop doing that. This demonstrates that that trend is reversing.

  • @zazenfrax One view is that not everyone can accept an idea with a fundamentalist acceptance. Questioning all view is essential to understanding beyond dogmatic reiteration.

It reminds me of something I once heard Dzongsar [Norbu] Khyentse Rinpoche say: Always be very skeptical of the rinpoche, because the rinpoche is always very skeptical about you!

Meanwhile, also cool that Buddhism has recently looked at quantum physics...and agrees!

  • @zazenfrax

I agree. Here science fails. It needs 100% objective proof and puts no trust in subjective experience... But science is needed now to spread the word and to possibly develop a technology based on neuroscience to make it easier for human beings to reach enlightenment. Shinzen Young talks about it.

  • @zazenfrax Because I myself prefer evidence and proof that something works. People can tell you all sorts of crazy things- testing these assertions (which is what science is, essentially) allows you a tool to help accept or reject these assertions. However, if you don't believe science is necessary, I do have this amazing invisible elephant I'll sell you.

  • nice. we have to relearn every thing scientifically about what was said 3000 years ago or just a perspective change.

  • This is interesting but if you look up/search "Bhante Vimalaramsi Depression" he is an American Buddhist monk who has actually found the cause of depression and how to solve it by directly understanding it.

  • try:

     while self: reduce(self)

    except ExistentialAnxiety: focus(defocus(self))

    finally: protect(self) entertain(self)

  • I'm a daily meditator, have been doing it for 2 years. My mother is also a meditator and she has been asking me about what are the benefits for your brain and what you are talking about here.

The bad news is that she only speaks Spanish so I want to know if this is going to be translated or at least transcripted so I can explain it to her.

I think this should go to TED and have more distribution. Thank you

  • Think of the underlying law of nature.

Consider its astounding inferences and implications.

The single, underlying law ... of nature! Not merely of physics, chemistry, psychology, biology, etc., but of all fields of inquiry known to humankind. The law we can all relate to, identify, understand and apply.

Ask yourself. What is the underlying law of nature?

Delight in the question. Have fun in the process of finding the answer firsthand for yourself.

    Google it, as a start.

  • It is important to be motivated. Preparation can be inspiring. Be gentle with yourself, just thinking of meditation is beneficial. You must accept your present situation, in order to change it.

  • Super interesting talk!!!!

  • @ 12:19

The symbol for Mindfulness (念) is actually from the symbol 今 meaning now or present and 心 meaning heart.

  • brian eno s 'sonorous portraits' transcends all, and lends itself to producing the positive and creative elements of rumination, which this video seems to overlook... in fact, had sonorous portraits been playing all the while in the background of this 'alternative' approach to meditation, we might have been provided with the subtle energies of transcendentalism, like an ensemble performance.

  • and yet transcendental meditation requires forcing attention onto a mantra (with effort). So why are you rejecting focusing on the breath but supporting focusing on a mantra?

  • everything i've read about TM including mahrishi himself plus original texts emphasize nothing forced or even focused. why dont you read some maharishi you will clearly see opposite of what you say is true .

  • Hi,

Forcing attention back to the object is more prominent in Samadhi (concentration) meditation. In mindfulness practice, just as in TM, there is no such instruction. What I am concerned with, is that you reject one technique while supporting another, while in fact they are both helpful, beneficial and worth trying and investigating.

  • I agree with this. Concentration is similarly developed in mindfulness and TM. From Buddhism, the practice of samatha meditation is even more similar to TM. Both are excellent practices.

  • @spaceshipearth999 & @/tedsmithsr

YOU GUYS! Stop all ths bickering

  • the "words" that you use here, e.g. focusing, and attention are important. I have done TM for 40 years. My instructions never included the instruction to "focus" or the word "attention". There is an excellent very specific intro to the mechanics of TM by Maharishi on YouTube. Please take a look. You are asking excellent questions.

    Ted

  • thank you very much for this incredible presentation.. very very informative and inspiring..

  • meh, I did a 4 week water only fast and my mind went right back to negativity and suicidal thoughts. I eat organic, I work out, I sweat a lot, drink a lot of water... yet I cant control my emotions. Meh.

  • @thetexasguy ORGANIC ORSHMANIC!!! Shut up!

  • @thetexasguy BICKER BICKER BICKER

  • fortunatly i was prepared to lister to this.

  • most brains in western civilisation are intoxicated by heavy metal toxins and some got a worst case gene type and can't detox by themself... so i have too stay aware of this beauty information...

  • Intoxicated by toxins? Envirogenic heavy metal levels in humans is almost always below accepted maximum safe doses, which are themselves very conservative estimates.

  • this is the exactly the kind of video i've been looking for.

  • I found this video really interesting.

    Thankyou so much

  • i teach energy cultivation

  • Very informative. It's about time we caught up in the West with these Eastern practices for healthy living

  • @hypnotherapyinlondon We dont live in tribes or extended families anty more. And our society likes to vomit thetr opinion good or bad about who is on stage. And then suddenly one day we are supposed to get up and do it. Its an unfamiliar invironment! ok i surf no problem but let me put you in the big waves 1 km out in the ocean. or let me put you in a parachute and chuck you out the plane. slowly slowly mate let us walk bit by bit. And parents and schools use punishment to control not reward!

  • @hypnotherapyinlondon it is actually not safe to talk in public. we are opening ourselves to nasty people who find friends by talking crap about any target . Unless we have pre adopted the atitude that every other person is either the same or way more stupid or nastier than oneself and you dont give a hoot . dont do it.. and if you talk with passion they will love you.. the bigger idiot you make of yourself and the more mistakes you do the more they love you cos they feel they identify.

  • does that matter ???

  • no i just noticed his voice and mannerisms. So i was curious to know.

  • Did anyone else notice the picture of Rick Strassman on the slide of his influences?

  • I can't be bothered sitting here for 48 mins. i'd rather be out for a run or something

  • I would date him.

  • lol cute!

    love.

  • I've been practising meditation for a 3 years and I have to say that this lecture is completely true.

  • where is my mind ...nice song by ??

    mind over mind........

    dont bug my mind

  • Please elaborate.

  • Mind conyrol eh?

  • No but I can say "idiot." There is no government involved but we can control our minds.

Confusing meditation with government mind control suggests the absence of intelligence.

  • @DNAblues... I only wish I knew which post you were responding to:(

  • Yeah, I can but "conyrol" is fairly difficult. Is it con-ee-rol or con-yrol?

  • @FLABERGAG : and what is your point?

  • 29:00 important stuff.

  • excellent video!! i love all the google videos on meditation and zen that i have seen.

  • i fell asleep at 6.37 but woke up again at 7.41

  • go/siy? I don't get it, is it supposed to be a URL?

  • V GOOD

  • please dont delete this video.

  • Interesting how information that was being passed down for thousands of years, is now all of sudden being studied by science. People wake up do this stuff yourself and understand the journey yourself.

  • ya, it just goes to show you that there actually are social and cultural aspects of studying science. I hope scientists will wake up and realize that they shouldn't limit each other by dismissing the topics others wish to study.

  • They're only interested in left-brain concepts, and disregard right-brain concepts. What their egos will have to face is that the logical and creative aspects of the brain serve an equal role.

  • very interesting, but you can subtitle it in italian?

  • This is the path that humanity will take to heal itself! Meditation is the key.

  • oneminutetomidnight - I hope you're right but humanity will have to move away from games consoles, soap operas, fast food and quiz shows first...

  • Hi, What are you quantum harmonizer?

  • It's great to see meditation becoming recognised by a sceptical scientific model. More and more people can now discover the incredible benefits of meditation.

  • Do they ever offer a solution to the socialphobia problem?

What type of meditation is used?

  • socialphobia? being timid in a social setting? so you get quiet and then come off as being rude cuz your'e not talking is that what youre talking about cuz..it happens to some people

  • For socialphobia: Some tactics Navy Seals use in dealing with fear. I suppose you can apply these to social situations. Goal setting, focusing on specific tasks. Example, have several topics that your interested in that you would like to discuss or gather ideas. Visualizing. This is like rehearsing. Im not a fan of this one for social situations, but may work for you. Arousal control. Deep steady EXHALES simulate relaxation.

  • It's called mindfulness meditation, or in buddhist: Samatha/Vipassana.

  • Wow. This is really quite a nice presentation. Thanks for posting this! David Peterzell

  • A brilliant presentation - interesting and informative. Thoroughly enjoyed it.

  • Google "Robert C. Scaer brain state technologies" for another awesome presentation on neurological mammalian processes related to trauma.

  • This is a great, great presentation. I wish all presenters could be so well done.

  • Kabat-Zinn is a wonderful author and obviously also a leader in this field but I find this speaker is a much better lecturer. He gets to the point, obviously has planned his presentation in advance in a way that will transfer essential knowledge, and is not meandering and random.

  • I am really happy to see that neuroscience is digging deeper into mindful meditation with the aim to help people suffering from mental disorder.

  • fascinating! i need this for my case pres in neuro thanks!

  • Obviously, we observe a true shift in paradigm of psychotherapy: the making of neuropsychotherapy. What is "exposure"? Skinner and Wolpe didn't believe we had to know nothing about "the black box" - now we do! And that knowledge will change, and it'll change therapy. "Exposure" is not only a "reciprocal inhibition" it is a psychological treatment technic that change neural structures. And that's not has not necessarilly be called "behavioural" therapy - it has to be called "neuropsychotherapy".

  • In relation to this check out The New Paradigm in Psychology by Ruben Feldman Gonzalez. He talks about Unitary Perception which Jiddu Krishnamurti called meditation. It is not a technique because techniques are still within thought.

    Domhnall O Brien

  • my Psychologist mentioned this to me on my last visit....i'm intrigued...

  • Fascinating. There also appears to be a growing body of evidence that these types of therapy cause real change in synaptic connections rather than a change in chemical "balance". I feel that psychotropic medications are woefully inept at causing plastic synaptic change which is in many cases the culprit causing chemical "imbalance". Although drugs can help to allow one to function, I don't think they should be substituted for psychotherapy in patients for whom it would help.

  • I agree with you. But in my opinion, drugs are not so effective as they don't address the cause/root of the mental illnesses but with their effects/symptoms. Drugs are very usefull in case of severe mental illnesses though.

  • Agreed, there. I'm more concerned with overprescription for more mild cases in which these kinds of therapies would be more helpful or good at the very least as an adjunct to medication.

  • I think this technique -"observer state" of the mind- is a much better alternative instead of drugs and can lead to a greater flexibility and control of the mind . Of course it requires a lot of practice and discipline as well but the benefits are great and you'll save a lot of money which otherwise you'd have paid to the therapists.

A question: what is the difference between mindfulness meditation and vipassana? Aren't they the same thing?
