America was shaped by open air preachers who defied the convention of speaking only to those who show up on Sunday. Any American student who has an ounce of knowledge of their countries history would do well to look up the Great Awakening and it's effect on the thinking of America and the Revolution. Jonathan Edwards and George Whitefield, look 'em up VCU students.
Yeah, but Dapo is nice about the way he preaches. He doesn't call us "fags" "whores" "sluts" or any of the other things that the rude preachers do. They'll sit there and tell us we're all going to hell, and that we all fornicate, and that women are there to be raped.
So far, Dapo is the only non-rude preacher I've seen in the commons in my 4 years here at VCU.
Mr. Kasali was instrumental in the production of this news package. He consented to an interview when others wouldn't and was very helpful -- gladly giving insight into his own motivations and why he believes other preachers act the way they do. However, because preacher presence on VCU campuses isn't always easy to predict, footage of preachers was limited to him and a few others. This package was a response to student complaints about preachers in general, not Mr. Kasali specifically.
