Hey man, is this still in production? How much farther (if at all) are you than you were this time last year?
Looks awesome! I think that the vga remakes are cool, and I plan on playing them. But I think that making a remake in the actual engine is awesome because it preserves the "feel" of the game.
@lukeman3000 The game is almost completable right now in the most basic form. I haven't touched it in a while, though, beyond some minor tweaks. Right now there's a serious bug at the top of the quartz tower with the lion that needs ironing out. I don't plan on abandoning it, but it's a spare time project and therefore I work on it as I have the time, made all the more difficult due to the fact that I'm the only one working on it. Thanks for the interest and support!
I'm so excited. Looking forward to a remake of the actual game. Not that I disliked the extended remake, but it doesn't have nostalgic charm. Which this will. Even though it's new.
I still plan to finish it, if that's what you're asking. I haven't worked on it in months now. Real life has gotten the better of me lately. The webhost that the website was on is kaput along with my website, so there isn't one at the moment. But I still plan to finish this puppy one day...
How wonderfully retro of you to do it in SCI0! I for one look forward to playing the game, even after playing the wonderful Tierra remake of King's Quest II, which was more than a standard enhanced version with all the new plot twists and turns and character development.
Their version was sort of like an adaptation of a great play by a noted playwright, while the Infamous Adventures King's Quest III was more like a translation of a great play from one language to the next.
Which engine did they use to create the CD-Rom version of King's Quest V and then King's Quest VI, which always had voice acting? Did they create a totally new one from SCI? Personally, I love SCI. I'm a big fan of The Colonel's Bequest, but it seems to me that Laura Bow 2 is in a different game engine. So I'm guessing SCI only lasted so long.
There are different SCI versions. SCI0 is the very limited 16-colour parser + mouse interface, SCI10 is VGA colours with digital sound effects and black and white cursours, SCI11 is VGA games with usually voice support, and SCI32 is the high res games. KQ5 was SCI10 and Laura Bow 2 was SCI11. I'm writing my game in SCI0.
Are you auditioning for any voice actors on this project, like Infamous Adventures is for their remake of King's Quest IV? I'm auditioning for the latter, but I'd love to audition for you, too.
There won't be any voice pack for this game due to the limitation of the SCI engine. I'm not making this game in AGS. I'm creating it with the same engine Sierra made their games in back in 1990 which, obviously, isn't capable of supporting speech. But thanks anyway :).
OMG so damn good! Hurry up and finish it so I can play it on my production break during QFG2! ;) Seriously, this is just brilliant. You are doing such a good job. This looks like a REAL Sierra game.
Will you acount for pixel stretching in the sprites and backgrounds?

@goatmanvideo82197 I try to, but it's a little difficult when the editing tools don't take it into account.

I actually thought this was an official Sierra remake - it looks that legit. Well done.

Great work! I my opinion Sierra's SCI0 games were their best. I really hope this project will be completed.
