  • I just say cut the damn thing off. I mean the reason why you would want to take it off cos you want to put a better one on there right? Would you ever consider going back to the stock ugly rubber ones?

  • 32.5 hours. Been there done that. Ha ha

This tool works. It is slow and tedious, but better than the tearing method. Thanks for posting.

  • Wouldve been nice last year I ended up cutting off perfectly good grips.

  • "It took me 32 and a half hours."...LOL...Funny stuff.

  • Or you could just blow your air hose into it and it would come off a lot quicker and easier.

  • Hell, I just spray (or spit) some water between the handle bar and inner grip and twist it back and forth to work the water in. And it comes right off no problem.

  • I agree with your sense of humor here =)

  • A drill works really well for this also.

  • Thanks for the information

  • Thank you for the great tip and a good laugh!

  • hahaha

  • Oooh, the trolls were downsized, they are now elves. Water rights belong to BP.

Also, my sense of humor must have been absent that day.

  • Well the 32.5 hours joke was not so good because it is easy to imagine that being true.

Case 1: you might be really lazy so quit because it was too much work

Case 2: you got interrupted by something else and forgot to finish it

Case 3: you have narcolepsy and fell asleep for 32 hours

Case 4: you have rheumatic hands or something that means you need a 20 min break every 10 second

I mean if you say it took you 32.5 hours then why should I doubt you? Had you said 1 year I would still believed you.

  • @a575981735977018 Wow, you'd believe a year? Well, I got this bridge in Brooklyn you might be interested in....

  • @vagabond35 Haha, am tempted to say Gotcha, and that the "1 year" that I wrote was MY sense of humor.. haha..

Now this bridge you mentioned.. is it all inclusive, with trolls under it etc?

(Great video btw, will remember this method...)

  • use hair spray instead of glue

  • I think that's why a lot of riders refer them as "stealerships".

  • LOL 23 1/2 hours hilarious!!! im sure wen i install my grips it will take me a day!!! my local shop wants me to pay them $190 for installing heated oxford grips LIKE YEAH RIGHT im really going to pay you $190 eh LOL

  • Funny guy LOL

  • "it took me 32-1/2 hours" Too funny!!!

  • great video. don't worry about the nay-sayers this is a good way to keep your old grips and it's the technique i'll be using when I change mine soon. also I got your joke hahaha

  • Right. . . You split it with a box cutter then pull it open & off in 8 seconds.

    Works like a charm.

  • or dont waste your time bend that crap stick a flat head in their with some WD-40 and it pops right off

  • Thanks for sharing this Vagabond :-) Love that little 'rotating rod' effect. The reason (for those who ask) why anyone would be interested in removing their grip (rather then destroying it) is so we can fit a heating element under them, and then replace the grips. Simple solution, explained with humour. Excellent.

  • Hey I need to change my handlebars, can you do it for me ? just a question how many years will take for you to do the job?

  • Dude that was funny as all hell. Thanks for the Tip Im about to remove mine today and your the first tutorial that came up. I hope I have the time. :)

  • thumbs up for all the idiots who thought it really took 32 and a half hours. You morons.

  • Can you say Razor blade? and slice the sucker off?

  • Brilliant method mate, thanks I'll keep that forever

  • Great video, to bad everyone is taking your 32.5 hour joke literally. At least some people still have a brain right??

  • @usa3990 Perhaps my sense of humor doesn't translate well into YouTube speak.

  • i just cut them off and buy new like zhazhajne said screw 32.5 hrs lol thats retarded also you might wanna try sticking a compressed air nozzle into the the open side of the grip to blow it off while pulling it

  • Great video. I've been there to try and design a process and eventually I get it. When I actually do it then it takes a few minutes. Not all of us can be geniuses.

  • i prefer to drop a massive turd on my palm and smear it into the grip - works a treat. How's that for humour mofo?

  • you made me laffff very funny

  • I recomend puting the bar en hot water. It worked for me and it's fast.

  • very good idea Vaga for open ended grips. Have you tried inserting a wd40 straw next to the hanger? I've done this with an icepick . I'll have to try your technique too.

Grips are to costly to cut, and its wasteful . People damage their bars by slicing off grips.

  • just cut the fucker off and buy a new one!

  • Let's see, 20 minutes to remove/replace or 45 bucks for new?

  • @vagabond35 i thought you said 32 1/2 hrs? $45 dollars is worth it then

  • @ultrakool Exactly where do you go to have your sense of humor surgically removed?

  • @vagabond35 straight to a source where the humorous material is severely lacking, e.g., you. haw haw. btw, at 32 1/2 hrs worth of labor, just make a slit underneath, then glue them back on. no one will be the wiser, yome sane?

  • cheers bike rider.

    tj

  • Thanks a lot for posting this video. I used a thin metal coathanger. The grip came off very easily - a damn sight easier than my old method of warm water, washing up liquid, plastic knitting needles and a lot of profanity !

    Best regards from Wales, UK.

  • looks like you did it in 1 minutes and 1 second. Good video.

  • Thanks for this, none of the bicycle videos help with grip removal! I am fitting bar ends on my bike and nned to move the ggrips.

  • fine 300. actually i was just kidding

  • ill buy it for 200 bucks. take it or leave it

  • Buy what? this is an instructional video.

  • @vagabond35 shut up and take the cash LOL :D

  • 32.5 hours? damn,,good vid though

  • very good instructions, even made the tool you made only i used a metal clothes hanger.. thanks for your help :)
