    Thank you in advance

  • can you do this on all car radios or just lancers?

  • Dude

my wires are not the same as yours!

    what to do?

  • THNKAS GREAT JOB EBAY SELL A CABLE, CONNECTS IN THE THREE CONECTORS IN THE BACK

  • @cardonahec

What's the ebay link to check the cable?

    Thanks

  • HERE Y

  • hi ma8 is it possible for mitsubishi lancer VRX model 2007

  • Thanks for sharing. Had to view the video a couple of times to fully understand what you were referring too. Also, recommended is tinning the tips of the wires if you don't have the little pins to put on the wires. Tinning the tips with solder will strengthen the wire and give a better connection.

  • do you know if this is the same for an 08 evo gsr?

  • No fucking way thats one thing I hated about my car that it dint have an ipod input!! despite it being an 08, awesome !!

  • Did this nd my radio wont light up or do anything

  • That is nice.

    Pretty good DIY.

    mad props....

  • Thanks! Gracias!!!!!1

Excelente tutorial de como conectar la radio!

  • man. you save me almost $900 pesos... (like 75dls..) really really tks!..

    =)

  • Hi I was wondering how you painted the front black strip and the silver edge.

  • EPIC love you man

  • Thank you SO MUCH! Guys, Just Make sure you put all 3 wires all the way in!

  • Thank you J4SONM. This demo helped me heaps, despite a few issues have managed to install this in my Lancer :-D

  • Awesome! Thanks for all the info. and for the demonstration!

  • You just saved me almost $100 thank you so much!

  • My friend has a 2011 lancer, his came with a built in aux... but in modes we cant find an AUX mode... what can we do?

  • @anp2795 hold in the CD button

  • DUDE THANK YOU

  • Thank you for posting this video! I just installed an AUX cable in my 2010 Lancer following your guide and it works like a charm!

  • Fuck yes man I was gonna pay some a hole 150 bux to do this .. I cant wait to go getter dun

  • Where did you find the diagram???

  • Also, just to make sure, the sound from an ipod should come from all 4 speakers right? 2 front 2 back?

  • U see, i was thinking about getting a new head unit and installing it into my lancer es 09. But looking at this, since i'll be only using my ipod and my fone for music, i don't really need the whole head unit and its installation that entails it. I think this is a great cheap, dirty and effective way to incorporate ipod, fone to a lancer! Thanks it helped a lot!

  • EXCELLENT vid bro...followed the vid an everything worked great...good job

    2 thumbs up..!!

  • hey j4sonm i followed your instructionsit worked perfactly fine only problem im having is that the wires wont stay in they keep coming out what can i do to keep the wires from coming out

  • @mrx8910 im having the same problem man, i probably have to just go out and buy the little metal tips and soder them on so when i push the plastic piece down, it will have something to hold in there instead of just wire, becuase everytime i tried just wire, they would slide rigt out..

  • I followed the instructions and I did it, but there's a problem. When I plug my ipod to the radio, the music is only heard through the speakers on the right side only. The 2 left side speakers do not sound when using the aux, but they work when using cd's...anyone knows why?

  • Hi i got an audio jack which has red, white and green wires. Could u pls help me to find out which wire goes with the diagram that u showed in the video. Thanks a lot

  • Hey I hooked up ipod cable EXACTLY like your video and my radio wont turn on and display is inop. there is power to radio so no blown fuses. Any ideas?

  • do u know how to do that to a 01 dodge truck

  • i know that people have been asking you this but i havent really found an answer, what size are the gauge terminals? i installed the wire with them and the sound quality isnt that great, ive been to radio shack and autozone and i couldnt find them. im probably looking in the wrong place, any advice would help... great video by the way, it really helped!

  • without them*

  • @ruban818 I'm sorry but I'm afraid I don't know what size they are. You'll just have to find one that fits.

  • Disconnect the battery first, don't just turn off your car.

  • Really good video...gave me an idea of what to expect without even starting. I just got my cable of Ebay.

Only thing....Disconnect your battery when your doing stuff like this....

    thanks heaps...another successful installation :D

  • too Nice!! ;-) thanks a million!

  • I have a 2008 Mitsubishi Lancer ES with the same radio set up as you but on the back of my radio I have a third hookup but don't know what it is used for. It's not hooked into anything, it's just hanging freely behind the radio. It has a connector and everything like the one that is in the back of the radio but it it's not hooked up to anything and my radio works fine. It's a used car so idk what the person was doing to it before.

  • Hey I just installed my aux cable but when I put everything back together I found out that my radio and display dosent work unless I turn on the lights. How can I fix this issue what did I do wrong, please help me!!!

  • @juanpaova Check for any wires you may have accidentally pulled out

  • Any way to get the wire to come out of the bottom of the dash? Like where the GTS models have the aux input?

  • Do you know if the Head Unit is compatible with regular Subwoofer audio cables? Or is some kind of adapter/converter thing needed? I'm looking to install a sub in my Lancer

  • Muy buen vídeo, seguí las instrucciones e instale mis cables para poner mi ipod. me economice mas de trecientos dolares ya que esta por comprar un radio nuevo doble-din, chicos gracias por el vídeo.

  • dw wires wernt in securly. buh all good now! works PERFECTLY!!

thnx sooo much bro! oh n i drilled a hole wher it is on the gts n pulled the cable thru dat! looks alot neater =)

  • AWSOME VID! THNX!!

jst one thing. everything works fine but the sound quality is really dodgy. any ideas why?

thnx in advance for any help bro

  • ok i have a really dumbass question but i am hopeless here where the hell is the AUX botton? on the pannale? idont seee it how do i play AUX after i pluged it in if i can put the option AUX

    help!!!!!

  • Hey I Want to do this for my Dodge Stratus How do i go about doing it?

  • DUDE! Thank you!!

  • @oneselflost No problem man, thanks for not saying something stupid like "Don't you know all Lancers already have the audio ports?" because not all of them do.

  • now my radio wont work. how do i fix it. i didnt even touch the wires and i dont get a display or anything and the buttons dont work

  • Thanks man, I did mine and it worked perfectly. The best part was that it was totally FREE! (If it helps to anyone: my cable had a Red, Black and Silver wires. I used Red as Red, Black as white, and the silver wires as copper wires. I also had to solder the cables a little bit, so the clip could hold them)

  • @mateors, same set up here, though my suggestion if you do not have a soldering iron is to turn to old computer internals. Any equipment that connects to the motherboard of a computer that is not in use, nor planned usage (even scrapped from an old PC) has these copper built wire holders. Just take them out of the connector, pull the individual wires from the copper piece, and place your own wiring in the copper pieces. Use a pair of pliers to fasten the cables in them. Works like a charm.

  • great video man took me a while to figure out why i couldnt get it working.. i have a CJ VR MY07 and there were already cables in the three slots needed for the aux.. i jsut ripped em out n it works perfectly =D .. any tips/hints/suggestions on how to hook up my sub into this stock head unit???

  • @spydah3000

Quick question, (and i realize this is an old post) i have the same situation, i have three wires already in there also, but how the hell did u get them out? is there a technique? brute force? cause i didn't really want to break them without knowing what they were already for.

  • @DaWinner0

oh man, it was a struggle .. i found a small flat head screw driver that fitted the pin holes and i just poped them out in the end.. i've replaced my aux cable 3 times since i first posted, and successfully installed a sub and amp into the stock headunit.. now thats a tricky one with no rear aux..

ps when i removed the pins after finding a pin layout on the net i found no noticeable changes to any sound quality or headunit functionality... a tad confusing i must say

  • lol Gj but i will not do it to my car !!!

i prfer to make cd then do it :)

i am not bob the builder i am just lazy

  • k, i picked up the wrong terminal gauges, but didnt need it after giving another try without them. works like charm now. thanks for the diy!

  • i bought the dynex audio cable and when i cut them i got the bare copper wrapped around then two small wires (white and green) with some aluminum foil-looking thing wrapped around in between the 2 small wires and the bare copper. are those still good or should i go buy another one? idk if the aluminum looking thing does anything. thanks in advance

also, can you tell me the size of the gauge terminals? i tried without the terminals and it wouldn't work, unless im using the wrong cable. LMK

  • @PiNoYSiDe757 They should still work, just ignore the foil-looking thing.

As for the gauge, I'm not sure about that.

  • @J4SONM cool, thanks. i just bought the 20-18 ones. hopefully those work.

  • how come i can only hear it on one side of the car????

  • @freddyway you wired it wrong

  • Thanks a ton, dude. Saved me $150. FYI all this works just fine for 2009 Mitsubishi Lancer DE. And making the aux cable come out of the center console instead of the glovebox is stupid-easy.

Toughest part of this by far is getting those wires into the square white holes without fraying. When I did it I had to twist each wire a lot of times so it wouldn't fray, and then once it got through make a fishhook out of the end to get it to stay.

  • you said your setup was just temporary. Do you know of a better way?

  • @jimijfsak Use a thicker gauge wire, don't use tape, use zip ties. Also, you might wanna use a black wire, just looks a little better.

  • thanks heaps, man. for taking time to show this and the diagram and all comments... just hope (I won't trigger the air bag).

  • where did you get your terminal for the wire?

  • @obibone1 Autozone or radio shack

  • @J4SONM Can you be more specific here? I went to an autozone and a radio shack and nothing looked like it would fit..

  • Thanks you, thanks you, thank you!!! I might make a 2010 DE version of your video! If it's the same it'll be in french and i'll refer yours for english!

  • hey man I have an rca (red and white) do I just need to buy an rca to ipod cable and I can listen to it?

  • @username112256 Yeah

  • @J4SONM straight man. Thanks for the quick reply too!

  • @J4SONM I dont know why but I have an ES and it comes with the RCA ports, how come urs doesnt, mines is 09 though. Im about to head over to best buy and buy the cable.

  • @username112256 Yeah it's probably because yours is 09

  • hey mate where did you get the diagram from i have a feeling i will have to do this to my 2004 vauxhall

  • can you send me a copy of the diagram? please

  • nice vid, the problem with the display is caused by the ribbon cable??

    thanks for the info

  • @z3f3 Already tried messing with the ribbon cable, the display must have shorted out or something, but it's all fixed now

  • is it possible to put an ipod cable instead? So i can change the songs on my ipod from the car dashboard??

  • No that's not possible unless you get an aftermarket radio

  • thanks .i dont pay $100dlls. in leon gto. mexico.i spent $2.50 dlls for the cable

  • CHINGON EL DATO (THANKS BRO)

  • Can i do the same to my Mitsubishi PAJERO 2008 ?

  • can i do the same to my Mitsubishi Pajero 2008 ?

  • probably, if you have the stock sound system

  • Do u think the stock stereo system sounds gud with the ipod or an amp would help???

  • it's good enough for me but i'm not really into audio

  • I just did this, Worked like a charm!! thnx!!

  • i would say just buy a aftermarket cd player but it dont look like you can do that on your car... i just exchanged cd players on my eclipse so it would have an AUX jack

  • yeah you can but you gotta buy a new dash face plate and stuff... this is just something to do if you wanna be cheap lol

  • well i gotta question for you its not related to this video but one of your others... the LEDs in your floorboard... do you just hook the positive to the fuze? and where does the negative go?

  • yeah positive goes to fuse and negative goes to any ground point on your car

  • Thanks! i just looking at a 09 Lancer DE and i was pissed that there was no AUX input! you totally saved me money! Thanks dude!

  • No prob glad I could help

  • thanks a lot. do you know how to take apart the plastic masks between the front seats? i'd like to wire the aut to my arm rest compartment.

  • That's awesome dude....Thanks so much...

  • Thanks a lot man! This makes way more sense than some of the tutorials online.

  • Thanks, glad it helped.

  • So I spent about 2 hours just trying to get the wires to go through the plastic piece without fraying but eventually succeeded. The AUX works perfectly and you just saved me $500. Again, thank you very much.

  • Lol no problem man I had the same problem

  • hey nice find thanks for the video... will be trying this myself very soon, but need to decide if im gonna change the whole head unit first, thanks

  • shoulda got the evo

  • very nice video, but, i think did something wrong, the volume is too slowly and noisy, what is my problem? (im not use connectors like you) help!!!!

  • The wires might be loose and moving around and stuff... You really need to secure them down somehow

  • i´ll try again, but with connectors, thanks from chile!

  • No problem.. if that doesn't work just try using some thicker wires.

  • Hi, i have already installed, the cable and it work perect, but the display its off, have to turn on the lights, for the stereo display works well, thanks for the video, one question, ony work with lancer stereo? or could work with other mitsubishi car? like outlander---

  • What year is the outlander? It will probably work just the same if its an 08 or above

  • Hello, can i connect with a simple cable? or i have tu bought the cable, because the terminal. use a special "terminal" inside te module.. please answer me.. regards

  • No, you can use any audio cable, even headphones, as long as they are long enough.

  • this is a good DIY, good job on this one, although it would look 10 times cleaner with black auxilary wire..lol.. just saying, i have a GTS model with the gps option so lucky me i dont have to go through all that

  • hey man just tried this with an old speaker cable. took about half an hour and when I plugged it in, BOOM! haha not really it works perfectly, but my lancer has a little plastic plate where the aux jack is on the nicer models. i just popped it out and ran the wire thru there, easier to get to than the glovebox.

  • Lol, you scared me man.

What plastic plate are you talking about? The one behind the cup holders? Or behind the shifter?

  • You know that space in front of the shifter, under the air/heat controls? There was a little piece of plastic in there that popped off from behind.

  • Oh ok, mine doesn't have that... What year/model is yours?

  • (2/2)...Also i tried installin it, and once i pute the clibe back on, it didnt hold the wires they came out really easy, I guess cause they didnt have the metal part from the instructions paper u show. How did u made the cables to hold down? Did u had the metal parts r something so that they'll stay? Also if u do where did you bought them at? Thanks in advance bro

  • You just have to shove them down in there as far as possible, and also secure them down with zip ties.

Also, don't worry about the white cable, just pretend the black cable is the white cable.

So, here's how you would do it, red to red, black to white, bare copper to black.

  • oOo...i c...and i have a question what if i put like foil r somethin like that on the tip of the cable? Would it do any harm and would it work? cause that way it would definitely hold it down n plus the zip ties. Also it would act like the metal parts in the original one.

  • I suppose it could work. Just make sure the bare wires or foil aren't touching each other.

  • ok sweet ima try to do it again tmrw...but without the foil just in case, i dont want anythin to go BOOM lolz...but ya ill let u kno how it goes...

  • Alright, cool. Just remember, zip-ties...

  • Hey I did it today and after like 3 hrs of work I got it working to both speakers =P but ya THANKS SO MUCH...u just saved me $50!! lolz

  • No problem man... If you need anything else let me know.

  • I have a problem. form the aux cable i get 3lines, white, red and black, but how i connect to the stereo? i mean plug, where i bought the terminal or plug...

  • I'm not exactly sure what you're asking...

  • Hi, my friend!! Im from mexico!! For the installation, i Need the grounding cable?? The installation is good whitout that cable?? I want to connect my amplifier to this stereo, how i can do this?? Do you know?? Do you have an idea?? Thanks!! Good videos, and good car!! I have 09 lancer!! Grattings from Mexico, my friend!!

  • Hey, I'm not sure about the amplifier. Sorry.

As for the grounding, the two coppers wires that you twist together act as the ground.

  • hello my friend J4SONM, nice videos, i have already installed the cable, but i did something wrong, now i can listen music, but the stereo display its not show, untill i turn on the light of the car, i dont know how to resolve this issue. pleasee help me!!!!!!!!!

  • There was a ribbon cable going from your hazard light button to your radio display, make sure that's not disconnected.

  • i was wathcing right now mi car, but i have reconected everything, the true it´s when i was connecting the cable, i do i mistake and thecables had contact, so the display its not show, untill, i turn on the light car on

  • Hey bro nice vid, but i have a question, i got my aux cable from radioshack n when i cut the other side it only had a red, black, n the bare copper wires(the ones u said to use as black) so there is no white cable...

  • ohh and how did your display break?

  • hey man does it play on all speaker or does it only play in the front left and right speakers?
