The latest races have had modified Yak-3s, Yak-9s and Yak-11s, both Russian fighter planes from World War Two, although the racers have American engines. Also, F2-G "Super" Corsair, American United States Navy fighter, a derivative of the venerable F4-U... of the same era race sometimes.
What I'd like to see is a Focke Wulf 190D "Dora" long nose or better yet, a Focke Wulf Ta-152. (Probably the true zenieth of piston engined technology)Give the Mustangs a run for the money!
id love to see a P-38, a B-26 , a nice modified DC-7C and a modified L1649 Starliner aka "Super" Constellation race!
