Yeah, we shouldn't have. But because the greedy swine CEOs and Wall Street ran the country into the ground without tending to people's needs, they basically handed the us's industries on a silver fucking platter to other countries.
People got fed up with it and went to imports because of the positive treatment they were getting from, buying products build by people who care for one another.
Our businesses just look to fuck people over for money.
@betatalk357 Thats a sad thing to say but i cant completely disagree. However, I would never buy foreign. Id buy a used american vehicle before i bought foreign, new or old.
i've been trying to budget the best way to tune the cheap mustang.... thing is i'm definitely getting one but don't know if it's gonna make any hp diference from the 300hp for $28000 or the way ur saying... any tips?
No, spend the 28,000 on a BMW 135i. 330HP off a twin-turbo inline 6 and not a v8, 6 speed manual, proper steering, independent suspension, brakes, and limited slip diff. You won't need to tune it and it comes excellently setup from the factory.
Mustangs are expensive to tune, very messy when they are (look at Top Gear's review of the Shelby and Roush Mustang), really aren't sexy, are very common, and really aren't for a car enthusiast. The BMW is that and more; you won't be disappointed.
you do know that parts and tuning and especially true performance parts for BMW'ers are hellaofalot more expensive. Especially since this is in Canada...an oil change here for my dad's 335 is almost 100$..
Tuning a BMW is expensive, yes. With a Ford, it may not be, but if you don't know what you're doing, you can literally trash the whole car. What I meant was instead of getting a souped up Ford, just spend ALL the money buying a factory issue BMW. It has all of the enhanced features you'd want and need, it runs smooth, pulls clean in and out of turns, cornering, braking, etc, so you don't even need to soup it up. You want a souped up BMW, just buy an M3.
BMWs are luxury, high-performance cars; f-150s are for rednecks who can't drive for shit who wants to haul shit around.
The guy below asked what he should spend his cash on: a cheap mustang and slowly improve it, a bells-and-whistles-Mustang, or is there another option? I gave him the other option; don't hate a SENSIBLE DECISION.
40% american car buyers buy imports. USA had a lot of people come out of the closet and we're allowing gay marriages, so by that rationale, maybe you're right.
EVERY FORD I'm behind drives so slow, he treats his Ford like an expensive china plate because he KNOWS IT'S NOT FORD TOUGH. '68 Mustang Fastbacks ARE TOUGH, not the new Fords.
Mustang man don't speed because the cops look out for stangs, the focus has a little 4 banger (little power) and a getrag tranny (expensive) that'll blow up after extended running the nuts off it, so he'll drive slower to save that from happening.
What good's buying USA cars if they can't or won't show its power or what its made of? If USA cars got speed, durability and quality, show it off.
That's like having fireworks on July 4th, but won't set them off!
Or buying a $100k Corvette and ONLY doing 55 MPH. Fuck that! You got the money to buy it, show it off at 165 MPH!!
Or having an F-150, but NOT putting high miles and dirt all over it. Unless you want a babied truck to sell later on, put miles and mud all over that bitch!
Every 20 year old honda or toyota u see for sale's got 200,000 or 300,000 miles.
Some, but not many domestics are for sale with that kind of mileage. If you want to show domestics can easily beat import, then there should be more 300,000 mile domestics on the market for sale.
Sure, nobody'd buy them with that mileage, but still, it'd show domestics can handle anything imports can.
@betatalk357 Old Ford 300 I6 very often have that many miles and not all of it were easy highway miles like the old jap cars, wich never see anything worse than a snowy road on the way to the grocery store. Itll show something for the japs when The newer tundras are 20 years old, have been used hard by their owners and sill run like alot of the old trucks in my area do. But I doubt that will happen.
The f-150 is made for hauling, not drag strips, the SUVs are driven by middle-aged family people who are afraid it'll flip over, the minivans have no power, and the mid-sized sedans (500) are driven by dorks who LOVE wearing kakhis.
@betatalk357 exactly. And It would tow/haul, off-road better than any euro pos. Since i find that more important than speed, Trucks ftw. Your comments makes no sense. If someone was afraid their suv was guna flip, would they drive it? no.
Yeah, you buy a truck for hauling and off-roading. That's its PURPOSE. Some people want SPEED. I wouldn't necessary bring a nitro funny car to the woods, would I?
As for SUVs, people like to drive them just for the size and to bully people on the road. But when they turn, they turn like pussies, going all slow and shit.
I cut that corner quicker than he can because I got the right car for the job. That, and SKILL.
@betatalk357 I dont understand what your saying. That, or I do and its just that stupid. Suvs arent made to corner fast. They do tend to roll over. Not wanting to trash your vehicle doing something stupid makes a person a pussy? So are people pussys when they dont drive 75 down snow covered roads as well? By your logic, people who dont take funny cars into mud pits are pussys.
I guarantee I can blow past a new Ford, and I'm driving a '96 Dodge 4 banger with no power.
Hell, my dad blew past a new Explorer in 1998 with a dinky '81 Mazda 626 with 70 hp and a stick. He didn't think much of that Mazda and he didn't want to buy an import, but how can you pass up transport for 50 bucks when you're desperate for a cheap car after our old one died?
How the HELL can a dinky 50 dollar Mazda with 70hp outrun a $14k SUV with a 6 cylinder? Speed and skill.
@betatalk357 your an idiot. A 98 explorer even with only the 4.0 would outrun that mazda if your were racing. Your dad passing somebody on the highway is not ourunning them. Its not a race when the other guy isnt aware that your trying to race him.
Yeah, but if they were actually PROUD of their domestic or pissed they got overtaken by a shitty little Mazda, why didn't they show what that 4.0 can do?
Because they are shitty drivers who don't have balls, thats why.
Mustang drivers show off their v8s. You don't see a v8 Mustang putting around town at a pathetic 23 MPH do you?
@betatalk357 Thats fine but your assumption was wrong. Not everybody feels the need to run the balls off their vehicles. My truck isnt fast but it pulls like a bear. Doesnt mean I feel like going out and pulling on everything I can hook to. Thats retarded. What are you trying to prove? I dont need to prove myself or my vehicle to others, I didnt buy it for them.
@betatalk357 Ever think not everybody is out to race everyone else? If im cruising down the road at 60 and some beat up old toyo truck passes me at 70, I could care less. Hes in a hurry, Im not. Also, a mustang is a sports car, an explorer is not. A person who owns a mustang likely enjoys going fast. An owner of an explorer probably doesnt or doesnt care.
You can say what you want about that Mazda, but we got rid of it at 250,000 miles. During the time we had, it NEVER went wrong. All it needed was routine maintenance.
I guarantee I can blow past a new Ford, and I'm driving a '96 Dodge 4 banger with no power.
@betatalk357 doubt that. Fusion, Focus, taurus, crown vic, lincoln. etc. every new car ford makes would beat your little dodge. Thats not even a contest and for you to say proves your stupidity.
@betatalk357 Idk what kind of power a Holden watever has. Yes, If they are similar in power and weight the win will go to the better drive generally. But Im commenting on how you are generalizing way too much. Owning/driving a certain king of car does and says nothing about a persons driving prowess.
Hell, in the time I had my car, I smoked 11 V8 power Caddies, 6 Corvettes, 5 BMWs, an S-Type Jag, a new Mustang, 3 old V8 Chevy Caprices, and a Maserati Quattroporte GT because they drive like old-age homos at 50 MPH. And that's true; no bullshit. All that cash for a flash ride and they can't drive the bitch faster???
BTW, watch "Old Top Gear Toyota Corolla" here on youtube. What he talks about on the Corolla is exactly why people buy foreign. It might not be a Mustang, but it has a little of everything for everybody, but the most key ingredients of the car, like cheap, reliability, and good courteous staff were put primary objectives.
Even though its jap, jap cars are for the type who want cheap, solid transport and isn't about flash or brash.
Why do u think moms, grannies, and kids drive them? Look at it on the opposite spectrum: Would that old Corolla be a better car if it looked sporty or had a better design? Like an EVO or an eclipse?
Sure, some people rice civics and stuff, but the thing about an import is people can put it down all you like; it's an underdog. Its not meant to compete with muscle cars.
@betatalk357 no, the corolla would still suck because its a toyota and making it look like an EVO or eclipse would do little for it. Now, if that corolla were made into a Ford truck and had actually never been a toyota at all (thus making the truck like any other) then that would help
@betatalk357 It was partial sarcasim. If Ford built their vehicles, put a blue oval on it and toyota had nothing to do with any of it, I would buy it. Hence, Im saying that I will never buy a toyota.
@betatalk357 Anecdotal evidence much? I have never seen a jap car do anything impressive or worthy of note that any other vehicle could not have done.
Then, you never watched "Top Gear destroys Toyota Hi-Lux" on youtube before.
Sure, davidsfarm here on youtube posted a video where he ran a buick over with a bulldozer and was still able to drive it. But he didn't trash it the rest of the way like they did to the pickup.
If he did, hands down, it'll win the competition. Or maybe u can do that to one of each Big 3's domestic product line, post on here, and maybe beef up the Big 3's sales...
Don't go on and on about Toyota's current recall bullshit. Many people were concerned when the recalls happened, but once fixed, people were still confident to continue doing business with Toyota and/or was willing to forgive Toyota for the recall blemish simply because they had great overall positive experience with them.
