@Sexygirl31ify they pretended because growing up the best friends looked better like they stated earlier in the show & now Seth & Gina have grown to look better...happens alot in life people's looks change for the better as they grow older, hope this helps :p

I realize what you said maybe they had low self esteem or something,one of the things about friendhip you should always be honest and believe in yourself, though when you first see someone yeah the physical appeal is the first to show but afterwards its up to your personality, but this is still one of my favorite christmas romantic comedy movies,
