  • Very well done

  • One of the best pain jobs ive seen yet. But plz can you help a fellow guitar player out.

I have all my supplies i just dont know where to start with the paint. How did u put the tape on exactly identicle? Did u print pictures or used a template? Plz help!! How did u kniw where to put the tape? I want to start this project!!!!!!! HELP

  • your frankenstrat is sooo cool

  • i'm building a 5150 guitar and im not spraying thick coats of paint like you did, i'm taking my time because i want mine to look good and have no paint runs.

  • @sk8r806 make sure you seal the guitar first... paint runs are fine, you can just sand them off....

  • what size tape?

    plz respond

  • @theEddievanhalen just standard blue painters tape, found out this is the wrong tape though, eddie used electrical tape on his apparently

  • i thnk thats cool how u didnt do red white and black like the original 5150...but its blue. lol pretty sick!

  • @theguitarguymike r u retarded it is red white and black. hahaha

  • @jcozzi9 it looked blue :P

  • @theguitarguymike i think its time to see the eye doctor

  • where did u get the real thin tape!

  • hey where did you get the frankenstrat picture (for the taping) ?

  • you should had made it black-blue-white my friend did it with that order and it looks SICK!!!!

  • the first coat was much better than the second one. did different people tape them?

  • goodjob

  • you use spray gloss paint?

  • what kind of paint was used and where you get the neck? thanks great job

  • THANK YOU!!

  • horrid not even close bro look at the original!!!!

  • @VanHalenWorshiper He was inspired by the original, not trying to make a replica.

  • thanks! :D this was really helpful :)

  • where did you get the body of the guitar ?

  • @GuitarFlighter9 from ebay :) its just a normal hss strat body.

  • Nice bro.

  • Do you think you could do this pattern on an Ocarina?

  • `You can get this tape at Home Hardware..

  • How did you coat up the guitar? How much did it cost? Where did you get the tape?

  • @race1717 hey, i used plasti-kote paint, best thing i could find in the uk, cost me around 150 - 200 pound and to tape it up, i used blue painters tape from B&Q (similar to scotch blue painters tape), but i found out eddie actually used electrical tape :) hope this helps

  • did you put anything on the body before painting it and did you use gloss paint?and lats queation did you put on a clear coat or wet sand it at all?

    great vid thanks

  • @blackstars26 i didnt put anything on the body first, though i should of put some grainfiller on :/, yes i used gloss paint, and put a clear coat on, but i didnt wet sand it. this was my first guitar paint job so i made loadsaa mistakes :/ lol

  • nvm looks good but can u play like eddie?

    haha

  • u didnt use preimer did you?

looks to grainy for eddies sorry bro

  • did you come up with those tape designs or is that another of edie van halens frankenstrats or somthn??

  • na, i tried my best to make it like eddies original, just without the wear marks. i got a pic of the guitar when it had the black and white stripes, and then after he added the red coat.

  • oh ok

  • so does the black just stay black even when painted over with red?

  • if youve taped over it yeah, otherwise no, it will become red, but depending on how many coats of red you apply, you may be able to see the black lines under the red.

  • whats the song

  • @TheLukeDaniel The song is Broken Wings by Alter Bridge

  • awsome guitar man!..Great job!...I used electrical tape for the black lines , just like eddie did. I know people like the blue stuff, but it's too wide or two narrow for the real thing. Electrical tape works great...and comes off nice. I started with a nice gloss black. Put the tape lines on for the black stripes... and ONLY sanded the areas that were getting the white paint. It takes longer, but it leaves nice black stripes, AND the tape pulls off really nice and easy....but yours is great too!

  • im positive that you have at least twenty drip marks

  • why didn't you prime the body first?

  • 107 beoordelingen11111 keer bekeken

i am the 11111 viewer yeah

  • Thanks dude..

  • how do u know where to tape where

  • do a lot of planning and a lot of studying with pics of the orignal. im considering my own style with a similar technique. diff colors, diff guitar.

  • Can i go from a single coil to a humbucker, and will it still work?

  • if you mean just replacing the pickup, if you wire it up properly it will work fine

  • dont forget about routing.

  • yeah you might have to get different pots ans a different pickgaurd to fit the humbucker

  • Dude please help! do you live in the U.K, if you do where did you get your different sized tape!

  • hey dude, i only had one size of tape, but i just cut it to size using a stanly knife

  • how did you know where to put the second layer of tape?

  • i had a picture of his guitar, which i followed.

  • nice job!! but background van halen music would have been better!!! hehe....

  • thanks, yeah, used to have some van halen songs, but i had to change them cause of copyright...

  • yeah .. also happened to me .... damn youtube

  • where did u get the neck

  • from ebay :)

  • i want this. <3 eddie van halen

  • please watch my purple one !!

  • nice

  • the song not fits

    hehe

    but good guitar

  • you shoulda sealed and primed it first

  • @nickakaumfan101 Ed didn't

  • @darthvaderyoda thats why his guitars look like they do now lol, just to keep it nice for an average person, just giving some good advice

  • thats the way eddie did it

  • Nice axe mate. I have done some extreme changes on one of my strats. My friends wanted to kill me. Checkout my video videos "stratocaster from Hell "and "Still of the darkness" It packs a punch. Brutaly yours.

  • i think it looks awsome but the white, black, and light blue looks amazing even tho its not finished

  • hey u think you can send me the pics u looked off of win u were taping?

  • but how does it sound!!!!!!???????

    post a video

  • at 1:16 where did you get that pic of the front and back of the white and black Frankenstein??btw kick ass job, eddie would be proud

  • nice job can you please tell me what size tape did you use

  • 3/4 inch, 1/4 inch, 1/8 inch

  • hey man pretty sweet job my friend just got thru makn his black nd white version of the original and now i thnk i mite make the red one just 2 show him up lol

  • awesomeness!

  • what are the dimensions for the tape? 1" and 1/8"???

  • gd job i building a frankenstrat at the moment, ma guitar was black but im sanding it back to the wood,

wat tape did you use, paint and how many coats of paint did you use?

Where did you get the photos to see where you put the tape on the guitar or did you just do it at random?

    Cheers Cod2Gangsta

  • hey, first off thanks.

the tape i used was some B&Q painters tape. (most people use scotch blue painters tape i think) i used plasticoat paint as i couldent find any krylon paint. and i did about 3-5 coats of each colour and the clear coat.

i got the pics from google images, just searched for the b&w frankenstrat first, then the red one, and just copyed the pattern as best as i could :)

hope this helps you, good luck with yours

  • will someone please tell me where ya'll find the really thin tape.... im guessin its like autp pin stripe tape but ive been to all the auto parts stores and cant find it..please help!!

  • hey, i couldent find any of the pin stripe tape either, which was pretty anoying, but what i did was just cut all the tape to the right width. :)

  • haha, i def dont have that kinda patience. i eventually found some, turns out they dont seel it in the tape section. ;)

  • good stuff bro i am in the process of gutting my guitar to do that pain job and gonna do some modifications but thanks for the help evh is the shit

  • not bad, you used only 2 widths of tape though, right? (and nice name painting on the back, i might do that =P)

  • if i do all this stuff my guitar would work correctly again? its cause i want to do this but i dont want to shit the guitar

  • as long as you put it all back in corectly, it will still work

  • EVH would be proud

  • or possibly sue him. :(

But he did an AWESOME JOB!!!

  • next frankenstrat you make leave the side blue and black but the rest red

  • hey i'm new to guitar and i was just wondering... is it really hard to take a guitar neck of the guitar and the pickups and everything and putit back together??? also do u have to take those parts out to do this????

  • hey, taking a guitar apart issint hard, are you planning on doin a project like this?

  • al buy it off you! ;)

  • So for your tape did you just put it on as how you saw it? Or did you have some sort of thing for it

  • Does it help to spin the guitar body to "Jump"

  • very nice;-)

  • thanks dude this really helped with the second taping

  • did u put a primer on, if so, how many coats

  • omg u shouldnt have done the last red painting and just left the blue tape on it.. looked so sick in those colours :D

  • nice job

  • yeah, i did

  • Madonnaaaa tenevi in mano e spruzzavi con quella bomboletta, come mio nonno quando urinava contento, contro un albero...Hahaaahaaahaaa

  • do u have to cut off all the wires for the bridge or pickups or wht do u do to them??

  • do u have to sand all of the original paint off and everything???

  • that's gotta be a brand new body, probably didnt have paint

but if ur lookin to do it it urself with an old cheap guitar, yea ull have to remove the paint

  • yeah, this was a brand new body, and yes you would have to sand off all the paint on an old body

  • after u take off the neck, how do u get off that metal thing?

  • if you mean the neck plate, it comes off once you unscrew the neck.

  • mine didnt? its been on there for years!

  • nevermind i just stuck a knife under it and it poped up

  • i wanna make one but im afraid to fuck it up lmao

  • it aint that hard, lol, just a bit of paint and tape

  • You really cant fuck it up that much lol. I just did my Dean ML in the yellow version of Eddies Kramer. If you fuck it up, even looks more original. I'm looking to do one of these up soon too. Only worry of mine is what paint I should use. The spray paint I used on the ML worked ok.. But I'd like to do a lil more pro of a job on this one.

  • i hate to tell you this but you did it wrong, the colors dont look right to me, the red is supposed to be more primary, like on the edge of your guitar, but great job man, would you make my strat look kile that if i shipped it to you with 20 bucks?

  • hey, yeah i can paint your strat for you. have you got msn ? will be easier to comunicate.

  • ha you wrote your name in the back, nice

  • what body and neck did you use, and do you need to put a clear coat on it?

  • yer on the body just to give it a protective layer in case some paint chips off

  • i may want to do this but im afraid when i take the whole thing apart i dont know how to put it all back together in the guitar you know xD

any guides of putting back a guitar together? :P

  • what part are you scared of not being able to do ?

  • well, the part of when the painting is done and everyting needs to be put back into the body etc.

im afraid of screwing that up and that the guitar wont work anymore

  • well, you could take a picture of the body, and then follow the picture, so everything is the same. or find a wiring diagram

  • its really not hard at all just take it apart and label the part with some tape or something i did mine in 2 days bacause of a paint malfunction but i didnt paint it red i just left it black and white with the white pickgaurd on it

  • why do u take the first set of tape off, wouldnt the red paint cover the black stripes?

  • you are meant to, some of the black lines are meant to be covered by red

  • how many coats of red did u do?

  • how much money did you spend on it?????

  • ooo, new parts!!!!!

  • wow that was awesome, you have inspired me to build my own frankenstrat.

  • did you use the "paint our own guitar" book

  • for the best stripe results, use a x acto knife. good video man! keep up the good work!

  • did you use any primer?

  • yes, a few coats

  • Nice vid, I loved it. I'm thinking about repainting my Randy Rhoads V so that it's White with black striping

  • dont

  • ya if you wanna do that ill give a flying V to screw and you could give dat randy rhapds opne lol

  • good job

  • dude plz watch my frankenstrat.

  • His black lines are too thick.

  • yea I noticed that too

  • awesome

  • where did you buy the body and the neck

  • i used to have a jacket exactly like that one. the guitar came out really nice!!!

  • when i get a new guita i might do this to my butterscoth tele

  • but how do you put the pickups/electronics in?, od u get a store to do it

  • no, im going to do it myself

  • if you buy the body completly stripped, how do you put the pickups in?

  • well 1st, u get the pickups and electronic stuff (volume/tone nobs etc). 2nd, wire it all up, 3rd, put them into the guitar.

  • did u chip the paint off it before you painted it?

  • you're stripes were a bit too thick, but it came out cool. Take a look at mine, looks exactly like Ed's.

  • where did you you get the guitar body and neck?

  • ebay :]

  • You dont know who you're talking to.

    Poop lover.

  • Remind me of myself in 1982...:)

  • for a perfect paint coat. use Krylon Gloss. Trust me use that it gives it the new paint look. and also when spraying be 3/4 a foot away and spray in line not everywhere. so the paint dont run

  • Amazing job! I always wanted to do that! Have you already put pickups in it? If not, what are you gonna use?

  • darn man... you did a nice job on the tapping! im almost to afraid that ill mess up lol

  • Yo man, good job. I just loike the fact that you am take matters into your own hands and made your own Frankenstrat..Good job, brotha.

  • How long does taping take?

  • you might wanna clear coat it to prevent chipping and scratching

  • yh, i have, just didnt take a vid of it lol

  • do you put it on after the paint?

  • yes. the clear coat is just to protect the paint job.

  • hey did u use laquer or did u use aerosol paint

  • should have primed it first to get rid of the grains of the wood and the tape you used for the bigger of the stripes was to thick.

  • dude i love youre created guitar kudos eddie would be proud but since you have 1 can you play any eddie if you can post videos nice!!!!!!!!!!!!!

  • wow that was great

  • thats sick, were those your initials on the back of it? clever

  • hey jason thats good!! You have finally learnt to paint!!!!!

    no thats brill

u got to show me it some time

    rock on llama!!!

from wee man (ollie Dibartolo) (5674x)!!!

  • hey thats pret cool man but you used the wrong sized tape to make the black stripes. its a little smaller tape that he used. i made one myself but just the black and white one (im making the red one right now). and one other thing is that you put the fine line tape on the left horn and its not supose to be ther but w/e. You still did a badass job!

  • cool

  • you forgot some tap on the back lol

  • Did you dad like the red grass?

    Good job!

  • Frankenstrat for Prez!!!

  • awsome! make me 1 lol

  • Damn dude that is awesome. How long did it take to get all of tat done?

  • around 3 days
