@pilotmonkey not in a survival situation but in a bored out of my mind and not wanting to spend money situation, ive made some swing traps (trip line, triggers stick with rock tied to end swings down and knocks them on head, i made like 20 traps in an afternoon, only got 2 possums overnight though
@lonepantherkmt This is also pretty interesting stuff to see how racist you are, which will get you banned on youtube which looked like one of your other accounts got suspended. One of the comments reads from you.
"Black Power! Europeans are destined to debt peonage thru their own racist capitalism! BLACK POWER!"
Yup stuff like this will get you suspended/banned. Reporting all this now.
@lonepantherkmt Oh yes you will, You fail a trolling in almost every Ray Mears video you have been in. Do you have Autism or Downsyndrome, Just something to make you as retarded as you are? Either that or you're on a hacked account trying to get this persons account banned.
@lonepantherkmt Yet again you have proven how retarded you are. You said "rofl hes far from home? really? the british stole that land too u faggot! the union jack is on their faggot flag!", Which i replied to and you give be a moronic reply. Well done.
This is great - I remember how much education we got on hypothermia back in school in NZ - by the time I was ten I knew all about layering up right, eating my scroggin, hypothermia signs and first aid. Came away from that a very cautious lad thanks to people like Ray.
Stumbled on Ray Mears sorta by accident. Just loving this guy. He's so down to earth, well spoken, respectful of nature and culture. And none of that bravado crap some other bushcraft practisioners show (off).
Thanks for taking the time to load the great vids!
I've had hypothermia. The scariest thing was the army Major who decided that the roads were taking to long to get me back so he went off-road at breakneck speeds. I was in and out of consciousness and it seemed every time I opened my eyes we were heading for a big tree or into a ditch. He got me there though.
Your body generates both energy and heat as it burns fuel. When you start to shiver, your body is telling you that its loosing heat faster then its being replaced. The shivering reflex exercises many muscles, resulting in heat production by burning more fuel. If the temperature at your core drops even a few degrees, you're in trouble.
Shivering will not be enough to warm you again. The body has a thermostat located in a small piece of nerve tissue, located in the base of your brain. When a body starts going into hypothermia, the body thermostat responds by ordering heat to be dropped from the extremities into the core, your hands and feet will start to stiffen.
As the core temperature drops it also draws heat from the head. When this happenes, circulation slows down and the victim doesn't get oxygen nor sugar the brain needs. The sugar that brain ordinary feeds on is being burned to produce heat.
As the brain begins to slow down, the body stops shivering and irrational behavior begins. That is a sure danger sign. But one is hard to recogize in yourself because one of the first things hypothermia does is it takes your will to help yourself. You stop shivering and stop worrying. You are dying in fact, and you couldn't care less.
At this point, your body loses its ability to reheat itself. Even if you have a sleeping bag to crawl into, you'll continue to cool off. You're pulse will become irregular, semi consciousness will become unconsciousness. Your only hope is to add heat from an external source.
@TheZochor :)...I'm a NZer and we do speak rather fast...and without moving our lips much (or so I'm told) which makes it difficult for people to understand.
I was wondering what sort of traps one could fabricate in a survival situation that could trap possums ?

Understand your facts before making such calls. The weather was not predicted, reasoning for them being called 'weather bombs'.
