I love every single note of this song... however, from 4:55 onwards is one of the sweetest things I have ever heard. It literally makes my ears jizz. This was the first album I listened to from this band, and because of that it's still my favorite. The music is just captivating, I was just instantly drawn to the music.
Yeah, the bass drives the type o songs along way more than other bands, the guitar almost acts as a background instrument, workds amazingly well though.
@slantyrock Josh Silver has a lot to do with the way the guitar and bass come together. A lot of times he is hitting the same notes along with Pete and Kenny. Very subtle and effective accents to their overall sound. Pete's bass sound was and will forever be unique only to him.

Gorgeous song, and very captivating. Peter was an incredible vocalist, the best that ever was, and nobody can even come close to replacing the mark he imprinted on my soul. The love I have for him as an artist and sadness I feel from his sudden death will never fade. He'll always be in my heart.
This song shares some very striking sonic similarities with My Bloody Valentine's beautiful "Only Shalow" (search for it and listen to the riff that comes in just as the vocals start, 25 seconds in). Peter stated that during the time of October Rust's inception that one of his major influences on the album as My Bloody Valentine.
Burnt Flowers Fallen is probably the single best example of that influence.

I have listened to their songs so many times for years now and I still can't get bored. They show a level of complexity that is perplexing yet simple at the same time. Also, there is no band with their unique sound that I ever heard of and I wish there were more songs like they made.
One of the things I think that inadvertently makes them better than most bands who often have gloom/doom songs, even those that can sound this bittersweet is the fact that the main songwriter is a bass player. Most TON songs still have a cool, prominent groove in there, even with a lot of other stuff going on, whereas many doom and goth bands can sound stale pretty quick. So, besides their talent and all the obvious, I think having a bass player leading the way keeps things more interesting.
@CynicalSolo23 There was another less known band with a bass player as lead singer, they were called the Beatles. I would saw thats pretty good company.

I have listened to their songs so many times for years now and I still can't get bored. They show a level of complexity that is perplexing yet simple at the same time. Also, there is no band with their unique sound that I ever heard of and I wish there were more songs like they made.

One of the things I think that inadvertently makes them better than most bands who often have gloom/doom songs, even those that can sound this bittersweet is the fact that the main songwriter is a bass player. Most TON songs still have a cool, prominent groove in there, even with a lot of other stuff going on, whereas many doom and goth bands can sound stale pretty quick. So, besides their talent and all the obvious, I think having a bass player leading the way keeps things more interesting.
