711 never had its whistle when WCR got her. so they just put a SAR 700 class 6chime on it. WCR had heaps of different whistles on there R classes though

I remember seeing this train come through bendigo every saturday afternoon heading to melbourne. I was even there when they had the opening or whatever for it. Took the mayo of Bendigo at the time at least 4 maybe 5 times to smash the bottle of champagne on the side of it haha

I could never understand why R 711 had that whistle at the time. Can you tell me why? Great Video 5/5 favourite.
