In the mid-seventies this was the first song I've ever heard of Uriah Heep. At instant I became a fan and bought all their records. But unfortunately after David Byron left they started to make bullshit music and I forgot about them.
Wow! Memories of my lost teen years. Thank You for bringing me back. Had this album along with so many other great 70's music. This one along with Floyd's "Wish You Were Here" (75 also) put me in another dimension that was hard to return from. Thanks to the the Heep for the "Fantasy trip".
being an ardent fan of David Byron, i love his song ""scared", which he recorded with his band, "ROUGH DIAMOND", can't get enough of this song, his version of , lock and Key, is bloody good aswell.
Wonderful, I´m a real David Byron fan ! That song bring memories to me ... I love the 70´s sounds ! RIP David you was great .. I must cry if I hear this song :)

One of my favorite bands of all time. The Heep is the very best English metal band ever. They don't just turn up the volume and try to over power you with noise like most metal bands. These guys can write and play strong powerful music that stands on it's own merit. R.I.P. Dave and Gary.
Bought this album in the 70s, still play it now. It never got put under the stairs with the advent of CDs like most of my vinyl. This and A Year Or A Day are the stand-out tracks, infact in my very eavy, very umble opinion A Year Or A Day is their finest ever song. See Kostantinos Takos' Heep archive for my pics of Heep at The Bham Odeon in Feb 77
last of the truly "old school" HM,and the intro is like time travel - I have the original album (and many other orig. Heeps) and feel that the studio version is better for the psychedelic effects - though,of course, they always put on great live shows as well.
URIAH HEEP was a mystical dream come true, DAVID BYRON was the leading wizard of the band along with MIck box Ken hensty Lee kerslake Gary thin and later john lawton john wetton was a living fantasy dream vocals and tunes that happened ONCE and WILL NEVER HAPPEN AGAIN EVER,sometimes I wish if going back in time was a true posibility just to see that marvelous event that took place in that magical time.

@Beikirch ON GUN CONTROL: "A free people ought not only to be armed and disciplined, but they should have sufficient arms and ammunition to maintain a status of independence from any who might attempt to abuse them, which would include their own government." ~ George Washington, Jan. 7, 1790
@Beikirch "It doesn't matter who the people voted for, they always vote for us."-Joseph Stalin(Illuminati)
"To one who cannot see that on Earth a big endeavor is taking place, an important plan, on which realization we are allowed to collaborate as faithful servants, certainly has to be blind."-Winston Churchill(33 degree Mason)
@Beikirch This passage is from page 287 chapter 34 entitled among women which is from The Man in the Iron Mask which was written by Alexandre Dumas pere in 1848. 'Coincidentally' in 1848 the Society of Jesus(Jesuits) were ousted from France for the second time. " Aramis took the good things in this life as steppingstones to rise to bad ones."
@Beikirch Have we succeeded? We think so. Before long we shall have covered with our narratives an enormous period of time; between the "Comtesse de Salisbury' and the "Comte de Monte Christo" five centuries and a half are compresed. Well, we assert that we have taught France as much history about those five centuries and a half as any historian.
It seems case of Dave Byron was similar than Freddy Mercoury or Jim Morrison e.t.c... The bands can't to make really great music without them.

Moog, vocoder, effects and wierd backing vocals make yet another masterpiece of the golden 1970-1978 period.

@ToraAkaChan I also came looking for this version because of the Gamma Ray cover.
This version surprised me, and was better than expected(although I think I still prefer Gamma Ray).
