Hey Muso57, I was 15 when I saw the Stones play in Detroit Michigan on July 12th,1972, and I was also right next to the stage, stage left risers at stage level. My brother had all the Stones LP's and we had devoured them for years, and this such an epic moment for me when I saw this show and heard them play this song. Do a search on here for Love In Vain - Ft Worth - June 24, 1972 another killer version. Cheers !!!
Hey man, I was at that concert in the front row, standing against the crowd barrier, a lad of 15 years! Mick Taylor IS great! I wasn't really a Stones fan but they we great this night and I was very impressed. I also liked the Aussie support act which was on first, 'Headband'. I wonder what happened to them. :-) I don't think there's a video of this around. I've asked the Stones through their website without a positive response as yet. Perhaps I should try again.

@dendmmr We must be siblings in some kinda way!! Have you seen Mick Taylor's work after the Stones with Jack Bruce. Very strange. Have a listen to my work on SoundClick. Search for Greg Olsen. :-)

Is this concert available on CD?

@MaharishiMahaYogi no, but you can find bootlegs on the web. The whole gig is worth hearing: Exile era Stones with brass accompaniment
This is my favourite version of this Stones song

@philipjsweeney I will have to look for it. Thanks, I agree this is definitely the best version I have ever heard.
