That chick doesnt look Asian either. Honestly I think the one in the 1990s did try harder at least. People rag on classic 90s films based on games but there is nothing wrong with them at all. You have to realize that the 1990s was still about experimenting. Look at the Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtle films. Part 1 was great, 2 was okay, 3 was awful, the 3D one doesn't even really count. I also liked the Super Mario movie too, you cant really make a film off of that but they did and it was okay.

I'm a street fighter fan. To be honest I'm actually looking forward to this movie. When I heard about this movie it was really no surprise that Ryu and Ken weren't going to be in it. If you really think about adding ryu and ken in this wouldn't make much sense If I recall Ryu and Ken never met Chun-Li so how can they fit into this movie? The director (Andrzej Bartkowiak) has made a few movies that are involved with martial arts stories and has worked with the likes of Jet Li. Plus, the choreography for each fighting scene is played under the direction of a well known instructor who has also worked with the matrix. So, we expect to see fully view fights rather than fighting scene where its all cut down thru editing and where you cant even tell who is beating who in the scene.

The Fact that the movie is a stand alone, meaning it generally has not ties with other game stories (except for characters). Why? Because this movie is a ORIGIN, the beginning, the start, the birth. Thats why. It makes sense for not having tie-ins with the Street Fighter Tournament from the 2nd game series. And why should it, more so, the movie is most likely closer to Street Fighter Alpha.

I did a little research : First off Fox is not in charge of this movie production, don't worry about any of the rip offs Fox executive producers make to fit with the common viewer. Instead, Adlabs Films, Capcom Company, Hyde Park Films are in charge of the movie. Justin Marks (the writer for Chun-Li), states that Capcom has been closely involved with the direction the movie has been heading and also the way the characters are developed. What they wanted is something more modern.
