If I recall the turbine was undergoing maintenance at the time, specifically the breaking system, when a storm arrives before anticipated. In other words, the turbine did not have the breaking power needed to stop it from rotating. The maintenance crew left the turbine long before the incident.

@AGrandt well as much as i dont want to say the crew left.. 1 guy made it out 1 guy almost made it out but survived and the 3rd died.. i work in these towers..

@98whiteGSX100 You may be thinking about a different turbine, and I just checked the Danish news sites, no one were injured in this incident. The people working on the turbine when it failed got out in a hurry, and got away safely.
The story is that the turbine actually were spinning for quite some time, while the wind speed were increasing, until it finally failed.

Nah, BORING, Chernobyl was Much more spectacular!!! ;-)) Check this out...Noise - you don't know the half of it!!! Check out this Nuke power plant carrying out its regular siren testing, see NHEQaXqaIv4, it does this regularly!!! And anyway, why does it need a siren, is it to warn everyone to run for their lives when it all starts to go wrong!! Give me a wind farm any day!!
