The respect and Humility shown by the honourable grappling community is beyond par. These noble arts transcend the ignorant stupidity of the haplessly violent. Glad to see the community standing together against the bigots. Racist is title that is too rich. You have to belong to the race first. The human race.
judo is a martial art turned sport, still very effective for self defence, a lot of people moan about the sport side of martial arts, as long as you dont forget the martial side, sport side is beneficial for timing, distancing, conditioning, confidence. also in judo its only once the other guy taps you stop!! so in the street you really dont have to stop if you dont want!
Who writes something like that?? Hun times have changed and black people dont have to ride in the back of the bus anymore jackass.....Hello ...we have supposedly evolved from revolutionary times you racist prick! And to boot you spelled it wrong dumbass!
..."fucking neger"? first what you wrote is worst than throw away the belt....and two that fucking neger could break your poor ass before you move a finger...SO SHUT UP!!
@vampired3 Dickhead its a belt, its for holding your gi together. grow up you biggoted fuck. The belt is close to meaningless, it just shows how many techniques you know.
Yeah, we need more people like you to go around teaching respect whilst hating 'negers'.
Get out of your white bed, have some milk, snarl at your 'neger' neighbour, and go joy riding, looking for 'negers' to hate.
Then, when you're done, go home, flip on the TV and curse at the 'negers' on the screen whilst drinking a beer and fondling the baseball bat under your busted couch, partly for security, partly for the erection it gives you.
very nice simple technique. The whole grip in Judo is everything... best Judo players know counters instinctively. Kind of like instinctive swat at a Mosquito... rest of us have to think about it first.... to late IPON !
Hi ive just done review of Rhadis grip dvds on my new website, the webiste is so new its not even on google yet, however i give a full review on these excellent products which ive scored 5 out of 5. Check out the site and leave a comment if you like the review. If you want the link send me amessage
can u post some more pls! I always got probs with breaking the grip of my opponent .. i mean i know some techniques but against strong guys they just dont work ( especially grapping at the collar at the neck)
It's not my DVD and its not Jimmy's DVD, it is OUR DVD. We did a DVD project together. Getting on a DVD and trying to act like I know more than someone who has been to 4 Olympics, won a World Judo Championship and has 2 Olympic Bronze medals is, one, disrespectful and two flat out silly. Jimmy Pedro clearly knows more than I do about gripping. I do know a GREAT deal and am an excellent instructor, but I don't KNOW more than he knows about gripping, but I am VERY knowledgeable about gripping.
@judomachine im trying to buy grip like a world champion but i cant find it. the one at your store is grip to win. is it the same or not? give me some info pls
The smaller guy is Jimmy Pedro he took Bronze in the 2004 Olympics He and the big Guy Rhadi Fergusan where Olympic teamates in Judo and Grappling you are always learning something new from someone It's great respect from Jimmy Pedro to show this teachnique you are always learning.
Pedro (the smaller one) was higher ranked than Rhadi, but Rhadi is a superb (understatement) coach and has a lot of experience in releasing teaching materials - he's no slouch in Judo either.
Understood, but like the other guy said, it's the black dude's dvd yet he's asking questions of the white dude and it seems like it's the white dude's lesson and dvd. If I were Rhadi I would have taken a green belt or brown belt for my train ing dummy, or maybe Lloyd Irvin since he's a dummy already.
I've also seen this marketed as "Jimmy Pedro's Grip Fighting Secrets" and I know Rhadi has used that exact phrase in the past - so I honestly don't what Rhadi's exact relationship to the product is. Similarly, Rhadi does most of the marketing for the "Ugly Judo" series, but his student Williams was a contributor to it. Rhadi's a natural teacher and understands the value of having all the skill possible made available to us rather than making himself look good. Which would you prefer to watch?
False dichotomy, genius. Just because someone is doing grip training doesn't mean they can't take a punch. Here's a question, can you take a fall from an experience judoka? Doubtful, but we just love people like yourself who underestimate the so-called "gentle way".
Thanks for taking the time to comment. Now I totally agree with you. Two years ago that's genuinely how I thought. However having done the sport for another two years I've seen the error of my ways in that sense.
@itsben94 judo is a sport and a self-defense system ... just like wrestling, bjj, sambo, and even MMA. If you fight a wrestler on the streets, you might not get up after he throws you or double leg takes down you and then punches you in the face using Ground and Pound. With a Judo, Sambo or BJJ guy, you will get thrown and submitted on the ground. All of these partial arts are also sports..the only martial art(s) that are not sports are Krav Maga, Catch Wrestling, Systema & Special Combat Sambo.
This is old, but..who can punch in the situation in the clip (imagine it is two guys in jackets)? The minute one person gives up the hand control to punch, he is getting thrown. Did you see how quickly Pedro moved to a Makikomi type throw? Swiftly to say the least.
This is also an isolation sparring drill, where by the players focus on a single skill, in this case grips.
if some1 do that in world championship, instant loose for sure. No defense for 1 sec is not a good idea. In that situation, the best thing to do is grabbing the oponent's leg...
I think the third option for Jimmy if he couldn't do either an O-Soto or a frontal attack is he could pull Rhadi's arm and go for the Koga Style sode-tsuri-komi-goshi!
Man, I would love to randori with Jimmy Pedro. I weight 195 and I know he is much lighter but I'm pretty good and I would love to see how long I could last with him or if I could throw him. Man what an awesome opportunity that would be.
is that jimi pedro?

That was pretty awesome, actually. Simple, easily applicable in a variety of situations, and hard to defend.
Can't wait to try it.

you know who those two guys are, right? Jimmy Pedro (arguably best Judoka to come out of US) and Rhadi Ferguson.
He probably isn't throwing off his belt to be cool, but it was coming off and he didn't want to stop....Nothing wrong with that.
Now, simmer.

judo can be used for self defence
but it is actually a sport
i see what you mean
but u culd probably punch them to stun them then get a throw in
itsben94 3 years ago 5
yeh but if they can take a punch your fucked :P
JumpstyleWarriors 3 years ago
If a good Judoka can take a punch it's more about who comes first while f...ing.
If it's one on one.
And you don't try to punch them but to put them on the head.
This stun-thing before throwing is common Self defense nonsense.
