I feel bad for Josh, he is being judged so much more harshly than he would have if he weren't following john's footsteps. I think we all love john, there's no question.. But if this were a new band coming out with their debut album, people wouldn't be so quick to hate. I like the direction they've gone, I think josh has a lot to offer, and I think they'll continue to grow and flourish as musicians. Give the guy some support though - how would any of us feel in his position??

Josh isn't a Jr. John in my opinion, he has his own qualities and from what I've seen they're great qualities. Way better than I'm sure anyone expected. Listen to his solo in sir psycho sexy

Josh Klinghoffer's guitar sounds pretty empty. i don't see the "genius" that all these people are talking about (maybe he is a genius... doing his own stuff). he might be Frusciante's friend, and be cute, nice or whatever, but he kinda sucks as the lead guitarist of the chili peppers.

De modo que debió haber hecho un solo no tan apagado, la verdad el solo estuvo muy aburrido, este tipo de improvisación en una canción tan clásica lo deja mal parqueado, no dudo de las habilidades de Josh, toca varios instrumentos y guitarra. Pero debería respetar un poco la forma de la canción y poner solos o rifts donde no los había.

LOL i loved solo. Of course it's not Frusciante, but no one could ever replace him, even hendrix etc. But i really enjoy josh's style and i simply loved this solo. If someone could only make a tab for it... :D

This guy has a poor technique, which is forgivable if you have a brilliant touch (as Gilmour and Clapton does) uniqe style (John) or great ideas (John also)

This guy has none of those.

@RoiekY Josh, (he has a name) has stated that soloing isn't his forte, that he plays more texturally. If you ask me thats pretty unique among guitarists these days.

As much as I love John, his style isn't that unique, his influences are pretty easy to pick up on. As for technique, when John rejoined for Californication, his technique was non-existent.

Would you agree that poor technique (Josh's technique isn't quite what I would call poor btw) is excusable if the person makes amazing music?

As for John - An hammer on-pull of line as in "Snow" is very unique in modern music.

The textures Josh plays are very avangard. it is nice but very strange when it comes during a RHCP song

@RoiekY I'm pretty glad that Josh isn't trying to fit the mould of what people thing he should be like. When John first joined the band he tried to play like Hillel, which resulted in Mother's Milk which isn't a bad album but it isn't spectacular

I think that if Josh stays in the band and makes another album with the peppers it will be amazing because the chemistry that the Josh has with the band is improving with every show he plays with them

I thought that this solo was new fresh and fitting
