While walking home I I was hit by a car driving illegaly in a pedestran lane, then savagely assaulted by J driver who drove away left my body in darkened steet. Police destroyed evidence, prosecutor, judge failed to investigate. I was left to rot at home recovering 5 years. Am now battling it out in civil court that wll award me a fraction for medical expenses, probably little or nothing for loss of work income/ psycholigal damages in spite of 6 offcial reports confirming permanent injuries.

Yep, that is one of the main reasons I left. I didn't want to live in such a country. I hope you are better now.

@shiofuki7 Thanks for your thoughts, sadly, no not better. have lived here 30+ years, built a business, lifetime network of friends & collegaues, have J wife, 3 J national children, obeyed laws, paid taxes then in one fell swoop was victimized and learned

I have rights whatsoever. J authorities broke many of their own laws to protect a J punk and there's nothing that can be done about it. The entire system is based on fallacy. Taxation without representation.

Yes, I was there for 8 and luckily it happened to me when it did or I would still be there living a lie. I too lost friends, home, money, possessions and job. Spent 3 months in solitary confinement, tied up, interrogated, abused, humiliated.....and the whole time they knew I knew nothing. But the saddest thing is the Japanese just believe everything they say.

I just went to court in Tokyo Oct 14 as Plaintif in an assualt case; Kafka would have been proud. I was not permitted to speak Japanese even when court appointed but paid by me interpreter screwed up. My 10 year old son could have asked more critical questions than my useless J-lawyer named HAYATO TERAI. Judge never intervened, never hammered J defendent, just let things go merrily along.

In her interrogations (24 hours/no lawyers/sleep deprivation/emotional torture) she was forced to 'admit guilt' or serve five years. Its a common tactic for Japanese to boost about their 'low crime rate' and 'excellent police work'. The judge did ask her about the rules in her country. I know because it was me.

she admitted to possession and that's a crime. usually non japanese get

sentenced and deported for that. i've never heard about judges asking questions

about non japanese defendant home country policies, they cud care less.
