  • @SwagginPenguin stupid as hell...

  • pussy

  • @SwagginPenguin Ya, shredding the tissue in your knee and tearing your ACL and MCL makes you a pussy.

  • He went to saint bonaventure high school

  • 3 tds in his last 3 games

  • touchdown against Baylor!!! :D

  • way to persevere Blaine! Hook em!!!

  • Hook em Horns, Glad Irby made it back strong this season!

  • YAY Irby! Fantastic touchdown and it's goodby to atm!

  • MY BOY WITH THE TOUCDOWN YEAHHHH!!!!!!!

  • TD vs Texas A&M just now!

  • TOUCHDOWN BLAINE IRBY!!!!!!

  • i was at that game lol

  • @1977seabiscut

I agree with you 100%. I broke a kids back my freshman year of highscool football. i went to the hospital the next day with my coach to apologize, he was paralyzed from the neck down! I check up on him every 6months.

  • He's baaaaack!

  • I find it really sad that the player who Blaine never went to go see how he was doing nor has he ever called Blaine to offer his sorrow and regret for the injury. I know that things happen and thats football, but its just a courteous sportsmanlike thing to do. Call the man for heavens sake.

  • what a cheapshot, a great Tight End almost had a promissing career put away

  • I am looking forward to seeing him return to the field. He will be a huge part to this offense in 2011.

  • This was on of the sickest injuries I've ever seen live. I felt awful for him after seeing this! Great to hear he's comin back. We've missed him!

  • He's baaaaaack!

  • Texas also announced the return of senior tight end Blaine Irby, who missed most of the last three seasons with a severe knee injury. Brown said he will bring Irby back slowly, but his size, speed and pass-catching could make him a key component in the new offense.

  • ita a testament to his character and work ethic that he is getting better and hes expected to play next year

  • UPDATE: 12-3-10. Blaine Irby is expected to really start practicing with the team and making a comback Spring 2011... Rehab has taken forever but he is finally getting there and he is believed to be back in action in 2011. He will have 2 more years left at the college level.

  • This injury looks very similar to that of Willis Mcgahee's back when he was at the U. Hopefully Irby can come back and finish off his athletic career with Texas!

  • it's till uncertain if he'll ever be able to play again, but he did compete in the longhorns 7on7 workouts a couple days ago and scored a touchdown against texas state. may not mean much, but it's encouraging nonetheless.

  • daaaaaaam that was and ugly bend

  • Do not underestimate Blaine, he has more guts, determination, and dedication than anyone!

  • ouch, unfortunate injury

  • i was at that game that was bad they wouldnt even show a replay on the screen

  • Ya I saw it live and it looked really nasty. I was hoping he would make it back, but its sad to hear its probably done for him.

  • Yo does anybody know if he's gonna back this coming season. Texas would be such a better team if they could get him back. He was having such a good start to his freshmen season when he got injured.

  • @Kappa2216 his career is most likely done and I remember seeing this live. One of the worse injuries I ever saw.

  • @Kappa2216 Blaine Irby probably wont be able to walk normally for the rest of his life. He has a conditon from the injury called drop foot and it's not a good thing. Hope he gets a full recovery cause he's an awsome player.

  • damn... i tore my acl last year and that was so so painful. it looks like he tore just about every ligament he had i there. thats gonna take a few surgeries and around 18 months to rehab and even then, the psychological steps you need to get past plays a big part as well

  • Sad situation. Blaine, when healthy, is one of the best TE's in the country, and he was going to be the next great Texas TE after Bo Scaife, David Thomas and Jermichael Finley. I hope he can recover and get his career back on track. TE's have always been an integral part of our offense.

  • He's out for all of the 2009 season as well

  • he was out for the rest of the season and went on surgery.

he might miss the 2009 season for rehab

  • you can hear his knee pop in the replay

  • hey basefree, this is what i found out. Irby is nowhere close to be being back, and there is no guarantee he will ever be the same if or when does get back. their saying that texas tight ends are on life support. it's not looking good. though irby may or may not play..at least he's ok

  • yeah I did the same thing to my knee playing Tight End.

They say Irby was like a young David Thomas and that Thomas influenced him to come play TE at Texas. I'm excited about having him back next year.

  • damn

  • ooooo shit breh

  • Tore ligaments, Had to have surgery. He'll be alot stronger when he comes back

  • ouch... I pray for a quick comeback! Hope he's gonna be okay once he comes back.

  • though that guy for rice may have taken out pore blaine irby. he'll be back next season. go texas!!!..

  • he is a nice guy i went to the same high school as him i feel so bad for him

  • what kind of injry did he have cause i dont know what happend or what hurts did his leg turn

  • :35 right leg

  • some months ago I had the same injury like him...

i can say you.... it hurts =P

  • oh shit...that replay...ouch. i suffered a knee dislocation 2 years ago and it hurts like a bitch. he must have been in an incredible amount of pain, and thats even an understantement.

  • right when they show the replay u can here a sound like a pen being tapped and it sounds like the bone breaking

  • if you listen closely you can hear him screaming

  • my cousins know him, he had like a 6 hour surgery and still cant move his foot, the nerves arent back, it sucks

  • Poor guy. He was watching the ball hit the ground instead of looking forward. He would have seen the defender and prepared for the hit. But he took it head on w/o knowing he was gonna get hit before it was too late.

  • sharkhillz go fuck yourself your a dipshit

  • i remember that... after dat the longhorns got wit it tho... Hook' em horns

  • hey you have to fell sorry for the dude, im a huge longhorns fan and it stinks that we lost are starting tide end, GO LONGHORNS!!!!!

  • I was at this game when the hit took place. Was kind of hard to see just how bad it was from where i was sitting (i was sitting on the upper deck behind the endzone Texas was going for). You could hear the impact from up there and it sounded pretty bad. When he was being carted off the field he let everyone know he was alright by giving a Hook 'Em to the crowd, which he got a standing ovation for. Its going to be tough for him to make it back, but I think he will be able to.

  • God damn i hope you get better Blaine, I went to school with Irby Since Middle School pretty cool kid and amazing Athlete he will be back i Gurauntee he is pretty tough.

  • Was that McCoy's fault? Or did he lose attention going after the ball after it was clear it was gonna hit the ground.

  • u can hear everything snapping and stretching on impact. thats really really nasty and really dirty. i dont care what the announcer says. i played safety in high school in south fla for 2 years. i was a starter on my varsity team as a sophmore b4 breaking my leg in the spring game goinginto my junior year.

dbs are not told to be dirty. i was 5'6 150 lbs and i never took shots like that on bigger guys. and there are alot of big fast guys in south fla football

  • Now i`m from england, and i`m a massive fan of american football.

A lot of punks in England claim that American football is English Rugby but for poofs,

I feel like showing each and everyone of them this video!

  • for sure, i saw this live and after they got him propped up he was trying to pump up the crowd for the team's benefit even though he knew he was done for the season and maybe his career. Hes a tough SOB.

  • i was in the stands when that happened

    that was a scary moment

  • This is why I hate faggots playing football! That was just some dirty shit no matter how you cut it. Dude was set up for the KO hit but decides to be dirty and take out the guy's knee. Thats some fag shit if I ever seen it on a football field

  • and your the reason i hate people who dont know football, go find the nearest bridge and jump off of it faggot....probably from boston or something, gay....

  • bitch i will destroy you

  • And so does your Quarterback... He's from Texas Dipshit!!!

  • Your Tigers and you are going to get bevos horn shoved up your ass and this time you wont enjoy it.

  • Ive played football for many years as a corner and then a safety, and was never taught to tackle below the knees. To us that is being a chicken sh** He had plenty time to square up and pop him in the mid section, and see that he dropped the ball. Very sad for Irby.

  • If you played football and weren't taught that, then you either are a bitch or never played.

  • Hey craigtwn! I dont know where you played, but if your coaches told you to tackle like that, that tells me two things....1) You were to small to bring the hit to take them down. or 2) You were to weak to be able to wrap up and bring a player down. That kind of play is dirty and cowardly.

  • It's football son. Try out for the volleyball team. Sounds more of your speed.

  • One of the worst injuries I've ever seen. Right up there with McGahee's in the 2003 NC game.

Godspeed, Blaine. He'll be back next season.

  • ouch, he's done. that knee is gone.

  • if he's a senior he is done

  • unless he isn't a redshirt senior, he can probably qualify getting a medical redshirt. then he has next season.

  • FUCK that's bad

  • Tackles like this should be banned in Football.

This type of tackle is nowhere to be found when you are taught football, I understand that people get hurt all the time in football but we are seeing this type of injury more and more.

  • Football is shit.

  • your right...Futbol is shit.

  • and you, stay out of american affairs bitch.

  • Think before you talk shit, I was responding to a guy that said "Football is shit."

    Futbol = Soccer

So pull your head out of your ass before you start typing.

  • your an idiot

  • bitch i can beat your ass

  • Ha i agree with LazerBeef

  • freaking corners tackle like that every game and when there is an injury its all the defensive backs fault well its not his fault, its how to guy fell so cut the hitter some slack

  • except for he did not fall his leg broke on impact

  • O GOD

  • i still can't believe how many ppl are saying its all on the DB, you will see them tackle that way IN EVERY GAME!!5'9 maybe 200lb db vs an at least 6'2 245 tight end, yes this is how defensive secondary tackles. i've had the same type of injury on a much smaller scale, i didnt get hit from the front, but my leg got caught the exact same way his did causing hyper extension. and still, BTHOTU

  • Damn, He was crying cause he was in so much pain. To go backwards like that meant he tore at LEAST pcl, acl, and it looks like mcl.

He'll play again, just not for awhile.

  • Chuck Norris would have walked it off!

  • I tore my acl when my knee buckled the wrong way while playing basketball, so I feel for the guy. From what I have read, Irby didn't tear any ligaments, but dislocating your knee is also devastating. That hit looked just like the one put on Willis McGahee in college. What Blaine needs to realize is that McGahee worked his butt off to rehab his leg and has done quite well since entering the NFL. He can do the same, but it's going to be a long road.

  • fuck you mrxmadxmoney, he fractured his patella in like 3 places, plus the damage to ACL. # 24 need more training he cant takle derectly to one knees like that

  • oh my fu98ing gOd. that must hurt so bad.

omg bye bye NFL for him.

    damn

    so painfull to see this.

i play football too. that guy is not crying over the pain but the fact that he'll [prolly never play again.

  • Thanks for throwing in that you "play" football. Nice touch.

    Douce Bag!

  • Please do not pay attention to mrxmadxmoney, the only bowl he's ever seen was the one that smells like sh!t. How ignorant can you be to say something about ANY TYPE OF injury being a "pussy" injury ...

  • i wonder if he broke his leg

  • Yes, dislocated, out for season

  • That was a sickening crunch on the replay...

  • Shades of napoleon McCallum...although McCallum was a bit worse.

  • You're joking right? This is the worst injury I've ever seen.

  • apparently you don't watch football. typical for a longhorn fan isn't it?

  • I wanna see what you would do if you took that hit and your knee bent backwards. Try not to be over dramatic as you hyper extend your knee and break your patella. Just walk that one off numbnuts

  • you probly dont even play football ur a fucking idiot, he dislocated his knee at the least, stop talking shit

  • you're fucking retarded his leg literally bends the wrong way. get off youtube and dislocate your knee and tear up a ligament or two, let's see who fucking over dramatizes.

  • well actually, If you pay attention to the instant replay, you can claerly see his knee bend to the left... at that speed that could cause some serious...problems.

  • I cant decide if it was dirty or not, I know smaller guys are taught to go low, but not that low, its more thigh level. But but I certainly dont think it was an intentional cheap shot just poor technique. Also, the fact that he muffed the catch made it worse, if he had caught it clean he would have been able to brace for the hit, but the extra time spent trying to coral the ball made him completely unprepared for contact.

  • GTFO! wasn't dirty, its football dumb ass

  • his cleets got caught in the grass the the hit was nothing

  • thrill seeker dnt tell me im an idiot i lay football, all corners hit like that watch a football game. thats y there is no flag i feel bad for blain too but thats football it was a freak accident the only reason he got hurt was his foot got stuck in the grass and the hit caused a hyper extension, u fuckn dumbass

  • Damn. That's scarry bro. But I will still play in the Gridiron.

  • you're an idiot if you think that's an illegal hit. if you think its late then you don't understand the speed the game, They were running TOWARDS each other. and yes, they do teach DB's to take on ball carriers like this. there was zero intent to hurt this kid, but even though you are all stupid, PEOPLE DO GET HURT PLAYING FOOTBALL..BTHOTU

  • youre a pussy i could destroy you

  • LATE HIT!! if u dont think so ur a complete idioT!..you can even tell the corner hesitated and then followed through with the his..what a fucked up play..blaine recover fast bro! You got all the talent in the world!

  • i could destroy you

  • haha doubt it..il kick ur head in bitch! fuckin dirty cum bubble

  • i don't think that was intentional

  • wat an asshole no offense bu twho goes for the knees. oh i no some1 who dont know about football

  • canabl1s i do play college football n they do teach to hit like that even in highschool hey do this is perfectly legal thats y there is no flag

  • dude ur fuckin retarded. ive been playing football for 10 years with 5 different coaches and none of them ever taught me to hit like that in HS or college. u take them on at the numbers smart ass. be a man! u never hit someone with the intent to hurt them and thats all that guy had in mind. hell its rice, they didnt have a chance to win that game. texas played that game for a "stat builder" and that dumbass ruined a good TE's year. hes a pussy. best of luck with the recovery irby!! hookem baby!!

  • yeah, same, i've been playing for 5 and never has a coach told me to dive at a guys knees

  • i play college football and when the guy is like 60 pounds heavier then you, u chop him down, its the same thing as a chop block. it was a freak accident, people get tackled like that all the time, he only got hurt cuz his foot got stuck in the grass but thats football, and im a longhorn fan

  • Not that Im a superstar, but ive played organized football from 6th grade till the end of high school, and no one teaches you to hit like that. anywhere. ever. That cornerback didn't hit Irby like that on accident.

  • Well, McCoy shouldn't have led him with that ball with that guy right there.

  • There should have been a flag and an EJECTION for No. 24 of Rice for a LATE HIT!

  • ur an idiot i bet u play soccer

  • NOT TRUE AT ALL! I am VERY familiar with football. That was clearly an incomplete pass, and the ball was on the ground a split-second before the hit. It wasn't the technique I was complaining about, it was the timing. The play was whistled dead a little bit late also. If injuries keep happening with hits like that, it probably will be de-legalized.

  • you're a pussy i could destroy you

  • no watch the play again it was not a late hit when numb 24 went in for the tackle tirby had the ball in his arms, it not the corners fault he cant catch, i feel bad for the te but thats football

  • what a pussy ass bitch

  • Hey avg123,Did you see this video, you idiot, that was a 100% CHEAPSHOT!REAL MEN who play in the secondary think interception 1st,not try to deliberately go for someone's legs!Watch the video again,Didn't even go for the ball, straight for the legs!

  • He didn't go for the ball because he arrived late. He did what corners and safties are taught to do, go for the legs to bring down bigger guys. Do i know for sure if the corner was trying to hurt him? no. However, it doesn't change the fact that this is the way corners are taught to tackle. How could you expect someone 150-180 lbs to stand up and stuff someone who is well over 220...no match

  • All i got to say is they lil corner should have gone for his thighs or lowers legs..not the middle of the leg where ur fuckin knee is..ur thighs cant bend like that..they should change the way the game is..too many ppl get hurt like this..there should be a 10 yard penalty for helmets to the knees...horrible video..blaine iby is the shit..best luck on the recovery man!

  • no argument here, i never said i agree with the tackling method, all i said is that this is how theyre taught. i agree with you someone has to develop another tackling method, way too many injuries like this...leading with your head this guy is lucky that blair didnt lower his shoulder cuz they corner could have recieved a severe spinal injury....ALWAYS LOOK AT WHAT YOURE TACKLING-football 101

  • you'rea pussy i could destroy you

  • look at what your tackling i agree with but knew method of tackling?

    are u serious?

  • ur an idiot

  • Get well, Irby! We are gonna need ya!

  • god bless, blaine. good luck on the recovery

  • I think they're saying it's dislocated now. I hope thats all, because when I first saw that I didn't think much of it, but then they showed the replays and I thought he had to have blown it all out. Hope he gets well for next season, a great TE is the key to any National Championship team, and this kid is a David Thomas clone.

  • I'm a Sooner fan. Let me just say, Blaine, that's the toughest injury I've seen since Joe Theisman. I saw both live.

I was afraid Blaine wouldn't be able to get that knee stable enough to even walk on again. Wow! Wish we could have seen you in the Cotton Bowl this year, Blaine.

See the rest of you Bevo lovers later.

Sec. 21, Row 74, Seat 3... Owen Field

  • If you're a sooner fan why the hell were you at a RICE vs TEXAS game??... GO HORNS!!!

  • Here a fan of our rival is giving his condolences to Irby after getting hurt and that's the only reply you can come up with?

Oh wait, you must have become a fan after 2005.

  • Fuck that, ive been bleedin orange since the years of major applewhite and chris simms.. Thats when i first got into watching football seeing as how i was born in 1989.. So what would you, all knowing longhorn fan, like me to say??... Here maybe you'll approve of this... Fuck the sooners

  • Exactly! This is the exact response we should have toward each other!

But, when it comes to these REAL PEOPLE with REAL INJURIES... I'm all American.

The Sooner/Longhorn rivalry will around long after I'm gone. It is the best rivalry in college football. Read "Runnin' With the Big Dogs" by Mike Shropshire. It will bring tears to the eye of every Sooner/Longhorn fan who loves this rivalry.

I for one would not have season tickets if it didn't have the chance for OU/UT tickets attached!

  • ALSO...

as a red-blooded Sooner who played for Barry Switzer, let me just say, Sooner football wouldn't be the same without being able to kick some Bevo butt every October!

(And I'm sure you Bevo boys could say the same in reverse, wouldn't you?)

    God bless Blaine!

  • It is by no means a dirty hit... thats how your supposed to takle.. unfortunatly his foot was in the ground when it happend...You cant really hit a tight end or a wide out high cause usually they will just run over you... He discocated his knee..or knee cap and is out for the year.. but this was not a dirty hit at all.

  • man i saw this injury live. thats just completely bad timing. he gets hit right as he puts hi leg down to plant. that just sucks. the same thing happened to me last year. i was playing tightend and as soon as i caught the pass and planted with my right foot a corner hit me right at my knee. snapped my femur right in half. hope Irby revovers. Go Horns Baby

  • Bad stuff. Hope he recovers. Willis McGahee did so hopefully he can. He can still get a medical redshirt so that's good. I hate leg injuries.

  • i hope its not a srious injury

    prayers.

    go longhorns

  • sometimes its not as bad as it looks, hopefully he will be ready next season. he was really starting to emerge as a great talent.

  • Prayers to the kid for a quick and speedy recovery. Hopefully he'll be back on the field this time next year.

  • As a friend and former high school teammate of Blaine my prayers go out to him and his family. It's an ugly thing but please for all you people saying it was a cheap shot: "Seriously, grow up!" Football is a contact sport if you didn't know that already. Blaine has been cut all his life so i'm pretty sure he wasn't worrying about getting injured by getting cut. Who does? Why play the game if your worrying about getting injured.

  • you're an idiot.

  • i really almost threw up in my mouth.

    disturbing.

  • no way that is a cheap shot.

Unfortunate? Yes...but not a cheap shot.

Injuries are part of a sport where you run full speed into each other.

    Hope he recovers quickly.

  • i saw this live, couldnt see what rly happened

  • i saw that hit live.. truly gruesome..

he took it like a champ though, im sure he can bounce back. stranger things have happened

  • How the FUCK is that a cheap shot? Has anybody viewing this video actually ever played football? Dirty tackle - get the fuck out of here with that.

  • Can any of you say "willis mcgahee"

  • I was thinkin the same thing.

  • exactly and willis mcgahee took the same cheap shot, but his so happend in the biggest game of his college career..ppl are crazy if they dont think those type of hits are cheap..it ruins ppl careers..cmon now ppl!

  • Dude the tight end outweighs the CB by at least 70 pounds. You are taught to take out the legs of a bigger player especially a TE. If you don't he is just going to run your ass over and take it to the house. It is a bad injury but it happens. Hope he makes a full recovery though.

  • I think it's stay on the porch not under it.

  • your a bitch

  • Don't think it's a cheapshot, but that's really sad to see. Get well soon Blaine!

  • Jesus christ I could go without watching that again

  • The kid hasn't even had an MRI yet, but Dr. WyZe has declared that his career is over. Perhaps you could stfu about things you know nothing about?
