  • How loud were you cranking your Blues Junior at in this video?

  • red socks)

  • i got a jr it has so much treble. i roll the treble back on it and my strat it helps. mine sounds like a loud tone box. great playing!

  • is this amp good for bedroom playing? i just need a nice clean tone at low volumes for practice.

  • put on some shoes.

  • Thats the way to show a Tube Screamer!

    Fender + Fender + TS

  • ME WANT PEDAL

  • Is the Blues Junior better than the Champ XD?

  • @PF1964 I don't have any experience with the Champ XD. Sorry!

  • @PF1964 i would definitely say that the champ is better.. it's got more diversity, but less knobs so you'll need some pedals and an eq to get the sounds you want out of it, but the tubes scream with less juice and once you get there, it sounds delicious.

  • @PF1964 yepp.

  • @PF1964 Yes.

The XD has more bells and whistles but the Blues Jr is just a better sounding amp.

  • @PF1964 Blues Junior is louder, XD has better cleans and general versatility

  • @PF1964 Oh man its sooo much better! A great and pure tube tone/ sound!

  • @PF1964 from what I've learned from other people and through listening to recordings, I would choose the blues jr over the champ xd.

  • Do you have to change tubes in a valve amp?

  • @PF1964 yes, every so often. its part of owning a tube/valve amp. maintenance is required (but only a bit)

  • @PF1964 Yes. Depends on how much you use it/how hard your pushing them. But usually every couple of years.

  • @PF1964 You have to change the tubes, but don't let that change your mind...warm tones and changing tubes vs crappy sound is a no brainer if you care about sound

  • Great gear you have there

Is the od 8o8 better than the Boss dd7??

  • @PF1964 In a word, yes.

  • @PF1964 they are two very different pedals. One is delay, one is overdrive. You can't really compare them

  • @PF1964 how do you compare an overdrive with a delay effect ???

  • @PF1964 well, the 808 is an overdrive and the dd7 is a delay pedal. how can you even compare the two? they do two completely different things

  • @PF1964 the od 808 is an overdrive pedal, the boss dd7 is a delay.

  • It's a weak signal cuz its mono

  • @skateracl

being on the left side doesn't make a signal mono. it'd still be mono if it was on both sides, or better put, on the center. why he panned it all the way to left, no idea.

  • nice tone

  • Don't want to be nasty or anything but...the amp tone with no pedal is far superior to the mess the pedal makes. Maybe good for certain tracks or at low volume but I wouldn't want to listen to it all night...just my opinion.

  • When you put new tubes to this amp do you have to re-bias them?

  • @aerodynamic3794 sadly, yes

  • Settings??

  • @stul9045 can't remember, I usually have bass, mids and treble around 6. (on the blues junior it goes to 12)

  • is your blues junior modded?

  • @bobert995 nope! :)

  • @soundwrks cool..no new tubes or anything?

  • don't you just love this sound? ;)

  • The SM57 is a pretty low output mic. That might be a good deal of your problem. Have you tried other mics with the presonus?

  • thanks ! i have a TS808 and a tweed BJ, i'm gonna try if the sound is similar with those settings !!! :)

  • Hi !!! nice sound !!! could you tell your settings on your blues junior ? thanks :)))

  • @thepicouse - sure. I can't remember the exact settings, but usually I have mids/bass at about 6, treble at 7, vol at 4 and master at 4. Reverb usually around 2.

  • Whats the name of the song he is playing?

  • @pokeguild - it's just me improvizing. :)

  • oh nice! It sounds like an amazing song!

  • I've tried a lot of tubescreamer pedals. There's something about the Maxon that just sits reaaaal well with this amp.

  • @occupiedbytim definitely. I love it!

  • Do you have the FAT switch pressed

in on the amp for this demo ?

    Stu

  • @guitar62751 - nope. I never use it.

  • modest. excellent tone, i use ocd.. liking the maxon tho probably get this too. good vid

  • you can either use your pc or your console to connect the mic to. if you have a good souncard it will be sweet with the mic if its not that good it will distort the mic's sound.

  • How do you record stuff you play with a mic to the amp? What kind of gear do you need, beyond the mic and amp? You connect the mic to your pc right? I'm very interested in recording my stuff, but I don't really know how to do it, and I don't really know anyone IRL who can explain this to me correctly. Help please? :o)

  • I have a Shure SM57 too and noticed that it seems to input a pretty low signal. You should be able to amplify it with the Firebox/Cubase. Otherwise, do what the pros do and get a mic preamp and run it in front of the firebox. I plan to! Presonus makes a cheap one called the TubePre.

  • Really nice warm tone and great player. Love a good guitarist with a lot of feel. How does the pedal handle higher end volumes... does it get a lot of feedback or just hum?

  • hey what do u connect the other end or the xlr to?? sm57->xlr->?->computer

  • Nice tone mang, I had bought an od808 but it sounded like rubbish for me..... I probly was expecting a distortion when its only a light overdrive box.... than again tho ive always hated the nano pedals, it seems to have been my own fault because your od808 sounds waaay better :S

  • Hmm, well everyone has different tastes! What amp were you using?

  • Well listen to how kick ass his tone without it was. You gotta start with that, if you don't have a tube amp, get one fast.

  • taud- what are you using right now as distortion pedal?

  • Well 2 months ago i was using an od808 than i grabbed a metal muff cause i wanted somthing with alot of grit, than i realized thats too much grit for me, so im settled on a PV windsor studio with a bigmuffNY, what about you musicfuse?

  • I'm not using anything right now. I'm trying to get as close to this sound as possible

    /watch?v=7GEt9yVCLfw

I can't figure out what they could be using.

  • This sounds amazing, nice recording and nice gear!

  • you think the sound of od808 more beautiful than the ts808 Keeley mod?

  • I've had no experience with the keeley mod, but I've heard good things. Don't know!

  • That bypass sound is great. I'm going to assume the OD808 has a true bypass.

I've always had an affinity towards the OD808's because I see them as a better edition of the tubescreamer, an already incredible pedal.

  • It doesn't have true bypass actually - just an extremely good buffer!

  • Wow, I always assumed they had a true. Oh well, I'm still getting one. They're incredibly good at tightening up distortion and giving a good crunch tone.

  • i creamed my panties:D its one hell of a pedal:)

  • Lovely pedal with the Jr!

    Nice!

  • great sound. im thinking about buying a ts808 push through my ocd for a little solo boost type of thing.

  • Sup tom!

I got to try something like this too. I recently got a MOTU Ultralite.

How did you sync the video and the audio? Not that it really matters, cause for all intents and purposes it was a static shot.

The Maxon OD808 is alright. I recently bought an MI audio Blues Pro pedal. Hands down my favorite OverDrive pedal, and I have a TS-808 and a Klon, so that definitely says something. The Blues Pro is comparably much cheaper as well.

  • Long time no speak Mike!

I synced it by matching up the videos audio with the recording via a few strums. Not the most accurate way but meh.

I've heard good things about that MI Blues Pro. Would love to see you put a demo up of it!

  • Yeah, I think I shall. I haven't put up a video in a coons' age.

Yeah, that Blues Pro was a real diamond in the rough. I tried it out at the request of my favorite guitar shop owner. I like it cause it grits up your sound in a subtle way, plus there is no mid-range boost like there is in the TS-808 and the Klon. I was really surprised at the price. It only cost me $120 US here in Hawaii.

It does the bulk of my work now, while the Klon is now a boost and specialty pedal for certain songs.

  • What ditty are you playing there old chap?

  • lol, just a random jam, I think I mess about with those chords quite often during practices though, so you might recognize it.

  • Thanks for the Demo, appreciate it!

Maybe you can boost the line out on your presonus? Most interfaces have a line in and line out level control.

    ~UG

  • good job!

  • Nice... My favorite overdrive brother.

  • It's great ain't it!
