Yeah, Udoh leaving changes Michigans entire 2009 season. With Udoh, Michigan easily has a winning record, makes it to the NIT, wins 20 games, and makes a push for the NCAA tournament,. But without Udoh, I say Michigan will finihs 2 or 3 games under .500 in 2009 (they might make it to the NIT, but definitely not the NNCAA). Udoh was THAT important to Michigan. he was such a great player...defensively anyways
Cause on this day, we were playing with all the motivatin in the world, not to mention it was later in the season, whereas the harvard game was early in the season. Michigan only went 10-22, you know. We were too inexperienced to contend for an NCAA tourney spot title or even have a winning season. I think we'll be better in 2009. We should finish no worse then 3 games under .500, and we should make a run for the NIT tournemant
Suckeyes, you can talk smack now like you don't care about this loss. Doesn't bother me in the least. I was at the game and saw plenty of you with tears in your eyes on the way out.
We had luck and git in 2009, and we went 21-14 and made it to the 2nd round of the Big Dance. But in 2010, we had no luck and lost the grit we had cause we lost our two senior leaders (C.J Lee and David Merrit). Poor coaching was problamatic as well. I was very dissapointed in how Belien managed the team this season. Hopefully we bounce back next season
@Poole1Dan Michigan will be worse then this year, losing Deshwan Sims and Manny Harris .Also Michigan only got 2 commitments for the 2010 class too, a 4 star and a 3 star, LMFAO!
We went 15-17 this past season, and although we lose Harris and Sims, we return everybody else with another year of experience, including a couple of returning starters in Zack Novak, Stu Douglass, and Laval Lucas Perry. Novak and Lucas Perry are both 3 year starters, FWIW.
Now I'm not saying we actually will be better next season. We could definitely regress. But don't assume thats its a slam dunk that we will regress. Those two recruits we have coming in-Hardaway and Smotrycz-both fit Beliens system perfectly. Hardaway is lights out from 3 point range, while Smotrycz is a versatile power forward who can drive to the hoop.
@Poole1Dan ok then preseason top 15, big fucking difference. Your just jealous, but even if Turner does leave, OSU will still be a contender. Every starter will be returning (expect for Turner) and the #2 recruiting class is coming.
I should remind you that my 15-17 Wolverines beat you clowns when you guys didn't have Turner. You WILL miss him if he leaves. He was the national player of the year. Look what happened to North carolina when they lost hansbrough: they failed to even make the big dance the next season. Look what happened to memphis when they lost Derrick Rose.
And look what happened to your Buckeyes when you lost greg oden: no big dance the next season even though you brought in an excellent recruiting class headlined by Kosta Koufas. Sorry, but you can't just replace a super star like Turner, even with the NO.2 recruiting class.
@Poole1Dan Ohio St won the Nit with a team full of freshmen, next year will be different. Ohio St will have 4 returning starters, 3 of them are seniors too.
"Ohio St won the Nit with a team full of freshmen"
wrong. The 2008 Buckeyes team had two excellent seniors in their starting 5 (Jamar Butler and Othello Hunter). But because you guys lost a legend in Oden, you went from national championship runner ups to falling out of the Big Dance completely. And now that you've lost Turner, you guys will NOT be a top 15 team next season, probably not even close.
@Poole1Dan Ohio St lost more then just Oden, they lost Mike Conley Jr., Ron Lewis, and Daeguen Cook. All Ohio St is losing this year is Turner. They have 4 returning starters and the #2 rated player in the country coming.
And because ohio State isn't suffering the same personell losses they suffered after 2007, they won't take as much of a tumble from 2010-2011 as they did from 2007-2008. I think the Buckeyes will once again make it to the Big Dance next season. However, they were not a top 10 team with the national player of the year, so they absolutely will not be a top 10 team withOUT the national player of the year.
The Buckeyes FAILED to replace Oden, just like Memphis failed to replace Rose and North Carolina failed to replace Hansbrough. Most likely, you guys will FAIL to replace Turner. you will be good, but NOT a top 10 team. I almost promise you that. Again, my 15-17 Wolverines BEAT you guys when you didn't have Turner. Thats how important he was to your team. Deal with it already
20 game winners? Oh yeah. A finish near the top of the Big Ten standings? Probably. Top 15 team? Fat chance. And Buford? He's a very good player, but don't even try to say he's the next Turner until he proves it. Thats like me saying Evan Smotrycz is the next Dirk Nowitzki. Its a rediculously partisan, optimistic belief.
@Poole1Dan I never said Bufford will be the next Evan Turner, I said he will be the ''go to guy'' next year. He may not be as versatile as Turner, but he is a better shooter. Most experts still think Ohio St will be a top 10 team next year even without Turner. Those guys no what there talking about, your just a dumbass.
"I never said Bufford will be the next Evan Turner"
Yes you did. You said Turner 'CAN be replaced by William Buford.' ROFLMFAO. Again, Buford is a very good player, but he's not even in the same league as Turner. Buford is to you guys what Dion Harris was to us a few years ago.
"Most experts still think Ohio St will be a top 10 team next year"
Most experts thought Michigan would be the NO.15 team this past season. How did that work out? We returned everybody from the 2009 team that went 21-14, but we went 15-17. You will NOT be a top 10 team next season without the national player of the year.
@Poole1Dan We will just have to wait and fined out. At least I have something to look forward for, while you have a shit Michigan football team that will go 7-5, and a shit basketball team that won't even make the Tourney next.
BTW, we were overrated to begin with being NO.15 in the preseason. We should have won 20 games instead of going 15-17, but NO.15? We were never going to be that good.
BTW, we were overrated to begin with being NO.15 in the preseason. We should have won 20 games instead of going 15-17, but NO.15? We were never going to be that good.
BTW, isn't it fitting that on the day RR introduces himself to Wolverine Nation, Michigan snaps an 11 game losing streak to Ohio State? I'd say thats an omen for what will happen on the football field next November. Go Blue!
You missed my point: The basketball team snapped a losing streak against Ohio State on the day RR introduced himself. I think thats an omen for what will happen on the football fiedl next November, when the football team snaps its losing streak against Ohio State
It might have been an upset because Ohio State finished the season 24-13 winning then NIT championship and scUM ended up with an impressive 10 win 22 loss record..just a thought?
I agree. Harris will be agreat player one day. So will DeShawn Sims and Ekpe Udoh. I really hope Michigan can find an adequate replacement for Ekpe Udoh.
I hope Rich Rod has a new gameplan because what I saw against Utah was embarassing. Its not the Michigan football I remember. Oh well. Here's to turning it around. GO BLUE!
I really like the team they had then. C.J. Lee and all a them!
