yeah, dude. Thank you. All of those you played are good . I just need to practice. I play in a band, I want to get better but finding time to .... got a go practice.
That speaks volumes about the whole slapping/popping style, the player has to get into their own way of doing it! Out of every bass instruction video I've ever seen on YouTube, this one makes the most sense. I agree with you Sir 110%.
Really nice, when you play triplets you play them and play 1 note and stop.. try to combine it, make some funky stuff out of it, its way too simple if you just triplet 1 note and stop.
i cant really explain this to you, tho i hope you understand, great playing!.
thanx man.. the quality of the microphone i'm using to record is pretty crappy. it captures the high frequencies and ignores most of the bass frequencies. i know what you mean though! thanks bro. peace out!
could you show the hand placement and hand shape for this style of playing? I'm a trumpet player and would like to know how I could teach my bass players to play some slap funk much like marcus miller
That thing you do starting at 0:55(ish) you can do that in another way. Pop, left slap, slap. It's the Mark King way to do it. The same sound, the same rythm but much easier to do. And there are a few here on youtube showing that. Anyway great post really inspiring.
dude you have no idea what you are talking about... do you know how to count??!! if yes.. try counting again.. 1 2 3 4, 1 2 3 4.. try it, it's easy!!!
ok ramon709.. this is from YOUR OWN channel description " I havent been born with any musical talent and especialy dont have a natural feel for rithm". so i think you just got yourself there!! .. and if there is anyways we could have a 3ed opinion on this, please feel free to tell him that the riff at 2:25 is actually 4/4.. THANK YOU!
oh boy you so got me, not... what i wrote on my profile doesnt mean i cant play and dont understand or have a feel for rithm. if you read my whole profile you can read that after 20 years if can play and have the feel for rithm. just havent been born with any special musical talent. i had to work/practice for it. like a lot of us had to do i supose. the part between 2:25 and 2:34 doesnt fit in 4/4. but who cares its just youtube. your making a big thing out of it, not me.

Good humble insight and playing here. I was just watching Tomo Fujita and I had to investigate how to get that triplet right.

I can't do the jazz triplets like you're showing. I prefer doing those "Finger Rolling" ones (similar to drumming your fingers (see Billy Sheehan)).
What kind of pickups are you using? The quality is much better than my SPB-3's.

soptamer 3 years ago
well, at the end part count 4/4 bars and youll hear the the rithm you play doesnt fit in a 4/4 bar. im mean the point starting at 2:25...

ramon709 3 years ago
....Yes it does (fit into 4/4).
