@GoPatriots100 --In light of 1 cor 14-15, Jesus may have been speaking to the 12 alone; they themselves were not to call anyone Father because their apostolic office was above any bishop or priest. My personal interp btw.
Paul says "I do not write this to make you ashamed, but to admonish you as my beloved children. For though you have countless guides in Christ, you do not have many fathers. For I became your father in Christ Jesus through the gospel" (1 Cor. 4:14-15).
If the Catholic church does bide by the bible, they should let Priests marry. 1 Corinthians 7:1-40
Now concerning the matters about which you wrote: It is good for a man not to have sexual relations with a woman. But because of the temptation to sexual immorality, each man should have his own wife and each woman her own husband
@ncast54 you make it sound like we put a chain and lock on our priests...if a person wants to be a priest, and marry, they can join the eastern orthodox Catholics. However priests understand and voluntarily live a life giving up marriage. The bible does not say we can't give up or offer up our lives to God.
@stevesilvia The Bible doesn't say priest can't married so why is this a hang up for the Vatican? Sincerely, I don't understand why the Vatican condemns that which is blessed by God. No, marriage won't solve all the problems of the R.C.C, but perhaps it could have stopped a lot of kids from being victimized
@ncast54 Newsweek magazine reports in the April 12 issue, that "The idea of reducing marriage to an abuse-prevention program ought to be repulsive. Sexual abusers through out the world are overwhelmingly non- celibates."
Priests and persons of authority are held in a higher standard and the commitment is following Jesus. The commitment demands a choice. Jesus wasted no time getting to the heart of commitment. Either the disciples would be committed to him and deny their desires. They would be determined to go their ways and deny him. The choice to commit is the same to celibate and non celibate believers-either deny ourselves or deny him, either go his way or pursue our way. Bottom line commit to spirit of JC
@ncast54 Newsweek magazine reports in the April 12 issue, that "The idea of reducing marriage to an abuse-prevention program ought to be repulsive. Sexual abusers through out the world are overwhelmingly non- celibates."
Priests should be allowed to married so reduce or eliminate kids from being victimized. The Bible encourages, but does not DEMAND celibacy. Paul recognizes that most church leader will be married. The Catholic requirement of celibacy is a sad example of the Church taking something that the Bible encourages, and transforming it into a requirement, in order to protect its own interests. Sadder, still, is the damage that has been done as a result of the Catholic Churchs anti-biblical requirement.
@ncast54 Newsweek magazine reports in the April 12 issue, that "The idea of reducing marriage to an abuse-prevention program ought to be repulsive. Sexual abusers through out the world are overwhelmingly non- celibates."
@ncast54, no, I am saying that I agree with what was reported. That Marriage is NOT an "abuse-prevention program". hmmm, you twisted what I said as usual. Is that a trend these days??
coffeefish, true, the problem is in all religions and all sects of life. Teachers, politicians, doctors, councilors, married and single people. Police, judges, and even children too. Google the insurance companies of churches in America for interesting facts...
Thank you steve for this awesome video, and for all your videos!! This fall i am entering the seminary and if it be God's will i am hoping to become a priest one day. Once again thanks for such a meaningful video.
I'm surprised at you. The problem with your interpretation of priests who cannot marry, is that some do, those in the Eastern Rite. It's a choice that men make before they become priests.
Like I said, you should look it up first, than come back here to talk. The main point is that some men choose to be priests, knowing that they "left everything" to follow Jesus...
the POINT there is The Pope Prohibited Priest to marry which means The Doctrines of Devil is in The Roman Catholic Church. 1 Timothy 41:3. are you telling me that Pope and Priest are Successor of Jesus?
Eastern Rite?? And here I remember you saying in some other video that the Catholic Church was "united" like no other!! A LIE, NOW, ISNT IT????? ESPECIALLY SINCE I COUNT SOME 52 DIFFERENT CATHOLIC CHURCHES to include the Roman Catholic!!
Here, view the wonders of the Catholic Church in this video "Catholic Inquisition and The Torture Tools by BereanBeacon.
Not exactly difficult to keep the Catholic Church 'UNITED" through so many centuries, now, isn't it??
That is, UNTIL THE PRINTING PRESS WAS INVENTED BY GUTENBERG!!
THAT ALONE ELICITED THE SPREAD OF THE TRUTH!!
THANK GOD!!
And, somewhere, in which of your string of lying videos, you quoted Martin Luther, regarding the Virgin Mary, ERRONEOUSLY!! You forgot to add to the beginning of the quote, the words "After all,..." AS WELL AS THE REST OF THE SERMON!!
NO!! MARTIN LUTHER DID NOT BELIEVE HER TO BE THE MOTHER OF GOD, EITHER, WHICH SHE IS NOT!!
My soul exalts in the Lord, my SAVIOR! she said!! She, just as we, was in need of a SAVIOR!!
She is the mother of Jesus Christ, in whom God found favor, and, lo and behold, not born through any "immaculate conception!!" Nor was she taken by angels to heaven!!
NO!! MARTIN LUTHER DID NOT BELIEVE HER TO BE THE MOTHER OF GOD""
Obviously your not a student of history. Luther believed in the doctrine of Theotokos
"She is rightly called not only the mother of the man, but also the Mother of God. . . . It is certain that Mary is the Mother of the real and true God."(Jaroslav Pelikan, ed., Luther's Works (St. Louis: Concordia), vol. 24, 107.)
CONCEIVING DELUSIONS, TAKING PHRASES OUT OF CONTEXT is done only by the Catholic Church, and very successfully, when it was that it could KEEP THE PEOPLE IGNORANT, WITHOUT THE ABILITY TO READ THE BIBLE FOR THEMSELVES!!
READ THE BIBLE, STUDY IT, AND ALL OF YOU WHO HAVE BEEN DECEIVED WILL COME TO KNOW THE TRUTH!!
Well, given that my comments have been removed, and that I cannot post responses under the previous channel, here goes.
Let's begin at the end: John's Revelation, the last book in the Bible, was written when John was about 93 years old. He, the LAST OF THE APOSTLES WHO KNEW CHRIST!! All others had been martyred!!
Thus, it is quite OBVIOUS, that there were no additions to be made once a book, with all its chapters is closed.
Compilation of the Scriptures had already begun in his time!
Too many were the "sources" arising for false doctrine, thus, the believers in the Church of Christ, Christendom, as it was called then, zealously had begun compiling the New Testament!!
The Cahtolic Church was not as much a figment in anyone's imagination UNTIL Constantine came into the picture, A PAGAN, who sought to gain power with this NEW religion!!
The Pope's Infalibility was not conceived until the last century or so, just at the time the Immaculate Virgin story was conceived!!
The Cahtolic Church was not as much a figment in anyone's imagination"
"Wherever Jesus Christ is, the is the Catholic Church" Ignatius 107 A.D.
It was real.
""The Pope's Infalibility was not conceived until the last century or so""
"Would heretics dare to come to the very seat of Peter whence apostolic faith is derived and whither no errors can come" (Epistulae 59 (55), 14, [256 A.D.]
Fallible means to err. Here it says they can't, which means the Pope is infallible.
The very LAST chapter in the Bible, Revelation 22 WARNS: 18 I warn everyone who hears the words of the prophecy of this book: If anyone adds anything to them, God will add to him the plagues described in this book. 19 And if anyone takes words away from this book of prophecy, God will take away from him his share in the tree of life and in the holy city, which are described in this book.
This the WORD OF GOD to which the Catholic Church PAYS NO HEED!!
RainhadoCanto4, your banter and rude words have been spoken since the days of Christ, yet, we are still here, with the words of Jesus to us, "the gates of hell shall not prevail against it" I wonder what other Christians will think of your example? You disrespect the bible with your judgmental attitude which breeds hatred and lies.
It seems you prefer that you prefer to pretend to others that I did not respond to this your comment, which, you and I know, I have, and which youhave removed!!
I guess that alone makes quite a statement for the deception your promote here!!
I cannot post responses under my other channel username!! Quite interesting!!
The very LAST chapter in the Bible, Revelation 22 WARNS:""
How could John be talking of the 27 books of the New Testament when he wrote this if the NT wasn't compiled for 100s of yrs later?
You have no sense of history at all and you have been proven wrong on every point you have made on here from Luther, Infallibility and now John and the canon of Scripture.
If you strongly disagree, provide an inspired table of contents from Scripture alone.
Only a baptized man receives sacred ordination. The Lord Jesus chose men the twelve apostles, and the apostles did the same when they chose collaborators to succeed them in their ministry. The college of bishops, with whom the priests are united in the priesthood, makes the college of the twelve an ever-present and ever-active reality until Christ's return. The Church recognizes herself to be bound by this choice made by the Lord himself. For this reason the ordination of women is not possible.
farsight001, (No sight at all), here's where I expose you for a BLIND and a LAIR, you say it was 10k who got murder by your church, ok, we all know it's a lie that number, but I'll play along with you, FOR YOUR INFORMATION IF IT JUST WAS 1 PERSON WHO GOT KILLED BY YOUR WHORE, 1 IS TO MANY SHE HAS BLOOD ON HER HANDS, AND ABOUT THE WARNING IS WAY PASS FOR YOU NOW, AND FOR THOSE WHO LEEACH FROM HER, GET OUT OF HER OR PART TAKE OF HER PLAGUES. and nope I'm NOT an ADVENTIST or any religion you speak
You insult me and you have no justification for doing so - especially if you're a Christian. And I'm not the one who said 10k - that's scholars who say it - people who spend their whole lives studying the inquisition.
And every church has blood on their hands. Puritans and baptists burned "witches", Protestants killed more during their inquisitions than Catholics did, etc, etc. If you want to call Catholics whore because they have killed, then you must call your own church whore as well.
Fantastic video. Thank you for it! Makes me grateful all over again for the wonderful, holy parish priests I'm blessed with. And good choice of music -- Carman is great. :)
min 1:19...are you high on 'holy water'(GOD is HOLY and HIM ALONE)?what Bible are you reading from?or maybe you are not reading from the Bible...
min 1:48 YES,we DO NOT need 'priests',why bother with sinners posing as 'holy men' when we have the HIGH PRIEST(JESUS) that HAD FINISHED with the SACRIFICES...HE(JESUS) MADE the PERFECT Sacrifice almost 2000 yrs ago,so stop going to those sinners(RCC 'priests') that like to think themselves above the 'laity'(unbiblical term...don't forget it!)
martalog121, thanks for your opinion, but we don't follow your views. The truth is you are close to the truth, but your letting your pride get in the way...
pride?again,as i said before Paul, tells very plainly that in the ecclesiastic organization(the church...)there is NO mentions about an office for a 'priest'(elder/bishop and deacon..NO PRIEST !!!) as RCC teaches
if you chose to ignore what Paul says that's your business but don't tell me i let my pride to get in the way !
a preacher is not a PRIEST !if the preacher teaches unbiblicaly i'll point that out to him,you on the outer hand risk 'excommunication' if you dare to challenge RCC(the last 1500 yrs of history is full of 'excommunications'!!!)
Actually, the technical name for a "priest" is a presbyter. Presbyters have been around since the begining of the Church. "Priest" is more of a nick name.
this is what i'm talking about, you and most catholics(that includes the 'witty debater')are making my assertions, about me...is not about me,it's about TRUTH, I AM UNIMPORTANT,NOTHING...(make it LESS THAN NOTHING)so please accept my apologies if in any way shape or form i made you guys, feel that i'm in ANY way better then you,I'M NOT,i'm a SINNER SAVED BY THE GRACE OF GOD(i don't deserve HIS MERCY and GRACE,but GOD IS SOVEREIGN...PRAISED BE GOD!)
Priests dont think of them as higher than any one. Before you talk you should do some investigation to understand the only and one true Church, the Church of Jesus which is The Holly Catholic Church. Thank you very much and have a nice day. God Bless You
are you aware of the 2 diff. 'classes' that RCC has? the "laity"(common people...whose 'job' is to listen and obey) and the "hierarchy" (RCC's priests,bishops,cardinals...those guys are the CHURCH...you ARE NOT the church!at least this is what at council of Trent was made known by bishop of St. Mark in 7th January 1546)
You couldn't be farther from the truth. As a presbyter (priest) many of my "bosses" are lay people at the diocesan level. You need to do more research.
Mart...you are very prideful. Swallow it and come to the one true faith. How dare you challenge Jesus' church. I cannot believe you disgrace his sacrafice for you so ruthlessly. I will pray for your soul and your loss.
"you are very prideful"...becouse i challenge the unbiblical teachings of your RCC?"i'm prideful" ?! as i keep saying it is NOT about me...it's about the TRUTH !you either accept it(the unbiblical teachings that your church is doing...and it has been doing for a long time)or you can ignore it,you choice but don't call people pointing to you what RCC is been doing,"prideful"...it's a fallacy(the name calling...)
I'm going to have to agree with xxFairestxx. When you go around saying stuff like "it's about the TRUTH" and that you only come to reveal the truth to us, you show an excruciating lack of Christ-like humility. It's not what you say, it's how you say it that makes you prideful.
"you show an excruciating lack of Christ-like humility"...i wrote what i had to say,so i do not see how you can take it :"it's how you say it" you either agree or you refute what i said,it's simple...!!!stop hiding behind excuses
It's not an excuse. Your accusation that I'm providing an excuse is itself an excuse. It IS about the way you say it. If someone sits me down in charity and love, opens up the bible, and says "I really think the Catholic Church is mislead and I wanted to talk to you about that", then I would listen. If they come as you do and say "I come to spread the truth", I am reminded of the pharisees and their arrogance and I don't take it seriously. How you say something is absolutely crucial.
instead of refuting my assertions, you and the other catholics(at least 2 others...i.e Steve and mapollo))complain about the way i 'said' them...and somehow i show "an excruciating lack of Christ-like humility"
Of course we do. If we see a fellow Christian committing the sin of pride, we are going to call them out on it. I would expect the same in return.
As for the assertions - I did respond to some of them by pointing out that they were false or unmerited. Did you miss my post about the inquisitions and Vicarius Filii Dei and such? If you have other assertions, I haven't seen them because I just showed up.
Might I also suggest that it's better if you try to provide evidence for said assertions?
"about the inquisitions and Vicarius Filii Dei " i don't remember making this one!
as for my evidence,to this particular channel(priests of RCC) to make it short(you can go back and read my replies) the Bible ,when it comes to 'ecclesiastical offices' the 'office' of priest as RCC defines one is absent...so this is my assertion...
Whoops. You're right. You didn't say that. Just goes to show how I haven't seen your assertions. :)
So your claim is that the office of priest is absent. Ok. Lets assume that this is true (though I might disagree. I think the apostles were the first priests) - what's bad about that? You sing hymns at the beginning and end of church, right? Yet that is not in the bible either. What is wrong with doing something that is not directly commanded by the bible?
singing songs with 'priests',it's a bit unfair, don't you think?
your RCC called 'priests' claim "authority" that they(priests) never had !
"I think the apostles were the first priests",OK...whatdoes the Bible has to say about that?well there is no mention of the Greek word "hiereus"(priest) in the gospel passage that you speak of...so your assumption is false...
Unfair? Not really. I'm taking your logic, lifting it exactly as is from your example to another to show how it's ridiculous. If the reason we can't have priests is that they're not mentioned in the bible, then it follows that we can't have or do anything that's not mentioned in the bible.
Sure, priest is not in the bible, but neither is the word trinity. But the concept is certainly there. Furthermore, priests used to be called presbyters, and that most certainly is in the bible.
your so called 'priests' claim they(RCC claims) have authority over 'laity'(another unbiblical term...) the Bible has no idea of such 'authority' given to men that are not married...
"priest is not in the bible, but neither is the word trinity" again you're mixing apples with oranges..the word 'priest' is in the Bible but not as a 'ecclesiastical office'
"priests used to be called presbyters," again you chose to ignore the meaning of words...look up the word presbyter !!!and come back to reality
You still didn't answer what's bad about having priests. Don't think I'm foolish enough not to see you avoiding giving a real answer by any means possible. Respond with less insults and condescension, and then MAYBE people will take you seriously.
Eph. 5:19 "Speaking to yourselves in psalms and hymns and spiritual songs , singing and making melody in your heart to the Lord"..so your assumption about singing is false too! see Col. 3:16 also!
Eh? But i didn't just say singing in general. I said singing at the beginning and end of church. I know singing is there. But where is it ordered at the beginning and end of worship service?
Can a former Roman Catholic add something to those still in the RC church?
Whatever Catholicism's faults, and whatever the objections to the RC priesthood per se, most priests are honorable & decent men, no matter how they're unfairly portrayed. A good many of them endure more than an element of loneliness in the life they've chosen.
Let them know that their efforts are appreciated, as clergymen & as friends. Invite them to dinner, let them know your family. They really ARE an asset to you.
1 Cor. 9:5: "Is it that we have no right to carry with us a woman sister [Christian wife], as do the other apostles and the Lord's brothers and Cephas?" ("Cephas"is an Aramaic name that was given to Peter)
In 1970 there were 10,000 priest around the world. Today there are 120,000: twelve times more. The church without a biblical basis says the priest "gives more attention to God" and concentrates on their work. But the real argument behind celibacy was to retain the tangible heritage of the church, preventing the descendants inherit land and other property.
... why not marrying ? the bible says the teaching not to marry is an evil teaching - when you forbid to marry - not all are like paul ! peter the father of the church is a married man and not all have this gift not to be married ... only jesus can give and when he gives - it is good not to marry - but how many priest will suffer ongoing and how much temptattion will hurt the chruch in the result, cause people fail cause they should have married ..... god bless and change rome !
After watching this I am reminded of the many Holy Priests who have lead me up the true path of faith. Nice Work on this video. Any priests watching, thank you for your sacrifice and obedience. Truly biblical christians understand what is means to be a catholic priest, ordinary men with extraordinary grace for the benefit of all. Praise be Jesus!
Anyone who choses to become a catholic priest has alredy failed to see the true message of Jesus and now he (priest) wants to educate me about Christianity!?! I see more than he does and I don't even wear that long black robe for the effect! what a marvel! What's a priest for agian? to lead me to Jesus becuase I can't see for myself the Way to Life? "No One Comes to the Father But By Me"! - not "by a priest"!
A priest makes a sacrifice of 'first fruits', himself. If you read your Bible you will find Paul saying:
"I do not write this to make you ashamed, but to admonish you as my beloved children. For though you have countless guides in Christ, you do not have many fathers. For I became your father in Christ Jesus through the gospel" (1 Cor. 4:14-15). Is Paul a blasphemer? No.
A priest becomes our father in Christ through the Gospel.
that's a good question?-Is Paul a blasphemer? Or anyone else for that matter who calls any man on earth his "father". Or,does one blasphem when he labels the man he came thru his father, especialy in the light of those inspired writters of the bible using "father" in the same prevalent manner?
of course they do blaspheme! what do you make of an inspired writer who contradicts Jesus? a fallible inspired writter! But if you wanna follow what Paul, NOT Jesus, commends, then you are follower of Paul. ur choice
"do not call any man your father, nor your master nor your lord" so u telling me, this should be taken metaphoricaly?
If both Paul and Jesus r correct in this case, then why does One of them says: don't do X, and the other one does something that he himself labels X?
Again, is either one of them to be taken metaphoricaly here? as I don't see any other way you can reconcile this unless u ascribe different meanings to the Jesus' & Paul's word 'father'?
You have taken Christ's words out of context. Paul would never contradict Jesus.Jesus didn't intend for his words here to be understood literally. The whole passage reads, "But you are not to be called 'rabbi,' for you have one teacher, and you are all brethren. And call no man your father on earth, for you have one Father, who is in heaven. Neither be called 'masters,' for you have one master, the Christ" (Matt. 23:8--10).
Although Jesus seems to prohibit the term "teacher," in Matthew 28:19--20, Christ himself appointed certain men to be teachers in his Church: "Go therefore and make disciples of all nations . . . teaching them to observe all that I have commanded you." Paul speaks of his commission as a teacher: "For this I was appointed a preacher and apostle . . . a teacher of the Gentiles in faith and truth" (1 Tim. 2:7); "For this gospel I was appointed a preacher and apostle and teacher" (2 Tim. 1:11).
He also reminds us that the Church has an office of teacher: "God has appointed in the church first apostles, second prophets, third teachers" (1 Cor. 12:28); and "his gifts were that some should be apostles, some prophets, some evangelists, some pastors and teachers" (Eph. 4:11). There is no doubt that Paul was not violating Christ's teaching in Matthew 23 by referring so often to others as "teachers." And such is the case in 1 Cor. 4:14-15.
Jesus criticized Jewish leaders who love "the place of honor at feasts and the best seats in the synagogues, and salutations in the market places, and being called 'rabbi' by men" (Matt. 23:6--7). His admonition here is a response to the Pharisees' proud hearts and their grasping after marks of status and prestige.
He was using hyperbole (exaggeration to make a point) to show the scribes and Pharisees how sinful and proud they were for not looking humbly to God as the source of all authority and fatherhood and teaching, and instead setting themselves up as the ultimate authorities, father figures, and teachers.
Thus Jesus is not forbidding the use of honorifics nor forbidding us to recognize that the person does have a role as a spiritual father and teacher. The example of his own apostles shows us that.
Every church has a preacher, or a minister. Your hatred for Catholics has caused you to not see the truth. Your opinions are just that, the opinions of one who attacks another. Did you know we worship Jesus exactly the same way the first Christians worshiped Jesus? Does that surprise you? Read your bible, and know the truth, that He who died for us, did not die so you could go around attacking others. Thats called a false religion. Bible says only the Father knows those who belong to Him,not you
Thank you Steve. I think the humanity of our good Father's needs expressed and their unique and exclusive life experience understood. I've lately become more sensitive to the particular loneliness a Priest experiences. Thanks again.
dwizkerz, maybe I am the only one, but it seems to me that there is a more (less personal) contact with priests these days. Maybe because they are afraid of accusations, but I always try to give my priests a hug,(we all need it). They need to know they can trust us, they need to know we love them. (invite a priest out to lunch sometime!)
Say this prayer for nine days for anything you may desire. Then let go and let God. Trust that whatever is the outcome of your novena is truly what is best for you in accordance with the will of God.)
O Saint Joseph, whose protection is so great, so strong, so prompt before the throne of God, I place in you all my interests and desires.
O Saint Joseph, assist me by your powerful intercession and obtain for me from your Divine Son all spiritual blessings through Jesus Christ, Our Lord;
so that having engaged here below your heavenly power, I may offer my thanksgiving and homage to the most loving of Fathers.
O Saint Joseph, I never weary contemplating you and Jesus asleep in your arms; I dare not approach while He reposes near your heart. Press Him in my name and kiss His fine head for me, and ask Him to return the Kiss when I draw my dying breath. Amen
O Saint Joseph, hear my prayers and obtain my petitions. O Saint Joseph, pray for me.
I'd like to ask for a little prayer: I would love to see my boyfriend return to the Church. He is Pagan right now. He grew up RC and left the faith completely for a lot of reasons. His name is Joseph, the same as Christ's foster father. :)
fortunately i am not caught up in that schismatics & sspx and anti heros & super villians. i would like to be absolved tho i am not well versed in catholic society or systems, i somewhat understand Jesus's teaching and laws tho i do not follow i dont always listen. i need to be absolved it is hurting my brain.
I am an EFL teacher in a private cram academy in S. Korea. I know the place could loser money if a student is treated with tough love, so I get the kid gloves thing. I am the only 1, feel alone (though there are bloggers who understand) &wish the Lord would take me as the kids act up badly. I guess I'm an anti-hero for answering their call. Anti-heros still R heros&but usually overreact 2 corrupt leaders or get burnt-out. They deserve thanks (if not answering a call to some work to mislead)
I'm saying I understand the reason 4 pastoral judgments that might seem prudent, but uncomfortable, but some judgments like liturgical abuse N the name of keeping people around or being schismatic 2 avoid liturgical abuse just can't be allowed. The SSPX kinds were rightly excommunicated, but 1s abusing the liturgy were&R freely abusing. As our priest said, these abuses reenact (or recreate?) original sin&affect the well-being of the world. 2 warn is good, but then, P. Pius X time-no hate needed
People think this action is hateful, somehow. Was Giulliani hateful when he cleaned up NY? Criminals were hurting others. Liturgical abuse was hurting far more than the parishoners where it happened&more than the victims of NY crime as souls were at stake in the former case. Still, even radical 1s who at least say "I absolve you" save a penitent soul from hell (ironically, except maybe at death, schismatic ones may be the exact opposite case), though would they have penitent?-thus,antihero.
either or, to follow God could most certainly destroy a man. to bear his name could lead to isolation and solitude. i just so much as mention God and people hate, what relations you do have and they crumble instantly, i am constantly plagued by jealousy and so much other sin. after my personal heresy and blaspheme, much like judas i constantly think about death. i wish i would die. i am 23 years old and @ a lost of purpose and sense of life.
I'm talking about ones who break away thinking they can do better [though the hierarchy could do better so these groups do not break away out of righteous indignation (though horribly wrong reasoning)]. The SSPXers run a tighter ship at Mass and offer many sacramentals, but can lose it out of dangerous levels of anger. Lib. theologists might refuse to say "I absolve you". Ones like the SSPX may not even have the jurisdiction to do so. I believe every priest has like-minded confrers.
The parents w/ money do spoil their kids N East Asia&so they don't have the character they need later 2 handle stress, I think. I feel defeated. Thus, I feel I'm a failure there. Of course, I'm not trained nor am I leading souls, but then I don't have a Satanic bullseye on my head either.
W/o priests, we could have the sacraments, as it 1st began, but bishops R harder 2 get 4 sacraments. As a scrupulous 1, priests R still my heros 4 absolving me; lib-theology&SSPX 1s R kinda"anti-heroes".
what are you going on about what is "lib theology & sspx?" in my natural state, i bet im prolly anti hero too. in fact. im almost even super villian. i dnt know mang some places infrequently plague liturgical celebrations in one ecclesial environment or another. In some places the perpetration of liturgical abuses has become almost habitual. i tell you. any true man of cloth, or priest or man for God or Godly man or any for the good are all heros. truely be dedicated and give there's to God.
priest are special. but only the true ones. to claim that you are priest, and not pull through.that will be to your own death. you cannot say i am priest and then succumb to evil no. the people will say "you are evil" instead, if you are a priest you will say mine is to God and mean it.if you are a priest, you will set an example for the world. you cannot compromise otherwise.
I'm torn, as liturgical abusers should be dealt with by bishops so as not to lead the flock astray, I, not having teacher training or experience, answered the call to teach English in S. Korea&I realize the errors we make in America&I realize how too lenient I am in trying 2 work with everyone w/ prudence&failing at telling it how it is so I end up trying 2 keep students not threatened w/ punishments as parents might pull their precious angel out. 1 never came back after I escorted him out.
Yes, priests are special. They are the shepherds to guide and lead the children of God to the "promised" land, the heavenly Jerusalem. Indeed they are the fishers of men.
The Christian faithful, for their part, should realize their obligations to their priests, and with filial love they should follow them as their pastors and fathers. In like manner, sharing their cares, they should help their priests by prayer and work insofar as possible so that their priests might more readily overcome difficulties and be able to fulfill their duties more fruitfully.
Priests have been placed in the midst of the laity to lead them to the unity of charity, "loving one another with fraternal love, eager to give one another precedence" (Rom 12:10). It is their task, therefore, to reconcile differences of mentality in such a way that no one need feel himself a stranger in the community of the faithful. They are defenders of the common good, with which they are charged in the name of the bishop.
Priests, never losing sight of the fullness of the priesthood which the bishops enjoy, must respect in them the authority of Christ, the Supreme Shepherd. They must therefore stand by their bishops in sincere charity and obedience. This priestly obedience, imbued with a spirit of cooperation is based on the very sharing in the episcopal ministry which is conferred on priests both through the Sacrament of Orders and the canonical mission.
Priests are made in the likeness of Christ the Priest by the Sacrament of Orders, so that they may, in collaboration with their bishops, work for the building up and care of the Church which is the whole Body of Christ, acting as ministers of him who is the Head.
O God, who hast appointed Thine only-begotten Son to be the eternal High Priest for the glory of Thy Majesty and the salvation of mankind; grant that they whom He hath chosen to be His ministers and the stewards of His mysteries, may be found faithful in the fulfillment of the ministry which they have received. Through the same Christ Our Lord.
Beautifully done, Steve. We pray that this video brings the Sacrament of Holy Orders into the light for others who perhaps might not fully understand the special gift we have in our priest. God's continued blessings to you and your work. Maria and Angelina
the Church knows what She is doing jelena... with the awesome responsibility of a priest as spiritual father of a parish, he does not need the distraction of dealing with a family also
however, just so you know, there are married priests in the Church ... just not very many... last i heard , we have 6 in our archdiocese
it was said in the bible; be warned inhabitants of the earth, for the dragon was hurled down and he is furious, for he has only been given a short period of time. therefor... it is better to keep faith. the devil will throw his fiery arrows at you and you would not be struck down. faith would be your shield, tho sometimes God leaves, to test the full extent of your heart. i would hope that you past the test brother. not everyone will make it.
you are right, but married priests are few and far between in the Church... if you were a priest in another liturgical community, like the Anglicans, that allowed marriage, and then you decided to convert to our faith, then you MIGHT be allowed to be ordained as a Catholic priest
I consider this a great testament to the honor of my cousin who followed his calling to the cloth. An honor for our family, our faith family since it had been 50 years since a Laotian son was ordained in the communist controlled country of Laos, under extreme persecution. Wonderful steve, thank you!
Thanks Steve. The only sad part, and these are the sickest videos I have ever viewed, is in the "Related Videos." I have never seen such hate in all my life, because I know not all Priests (Fathers) are like that. Most are not!!!
Nicely made video. As a former religious ed teacher I have seen many young people who are interested in beccoming priests and would be good at it. They follow the Spirit and immediately come up against a medieval church out of touch with modern times which rejects their person, gifts and interests. Our youth become frustrated and go elsewhere. Sadly the church will not reform Holy Orders, let us pray for change.
and there is a very good reason that the sacrament of Holy Orders exists as it does 13mns ... obedience to Church teaching takes precedence over individual desires ... thankfully the Church has a better understanding than you ... if the young men were indeed following the Holy Spirit and were called to be priests, then they would certainly accept the way the Church has determined the priesthood will be
Steve: no where in the scriptures can we find any prescription for Holy Orders in its current form. In fact we find the opposite eg married priests & bishops in-Paul's letter to Timothy or female priests in the Early House Churches. eg. Priscillia, Thekla and Junia in Acts. The Holy Spirit keeps trying to lead the church in the direction of reform, & the Vatican keeps fighting it. Christ won't put one roadblock after another up to ministry. Let's follow the Master. Abolish meaningless tradition!
I respectfully disagree. Please read IN SEARCH OF PAUL by John Domonic Crossan and Jonathan L Reed. Another good book is Paul on Community, the Early House Church.
obedience to authority is a beautiful thing 13mns... it is not the Holy Spirit trying the lead the Church to reform , it is people like you who have been infected with the SPIRIT of Vatican II and want to have things the way THEY think they should be .... thankfully a healthy dose of orthodoxy is sweeping the Church and maybe we can sweep that self-serving "spirit" out of the picture as a consequence
Orthodoxy is adherance to tradition, much of it incorrect. Orthodoxy focuses on human leaders and man made rules. Christ condemned the pharisees for this. Reform Catholicism focuses on Christ and the person of God. The Holy Spirit makes all things new. Thus a return to old rites and obsolete ritual cannot be the will of God for modern times. Blind obdiance to human authority is called cult worship. Obediance to God is called true spirituality.
I think loss of congregation, sex scandals a lack of priests, and inflexible teachings from the papacy are all indicative of a need for wholesale reform. V2 started the process and the conservatives have tried to derail it for 40 years.

If the Catholic church does bide by the bible, they should let Priests marry. 1 Corinthians 7:1-40
Now concerning the matters about which you wrote: It is good for a man not to have sexual relations with a woman. But because of the temptation to sexual immorality, each man should have his own wife and each woman her own husband
ncast54 1 year ago
@ncast54 you make it sound like we put a chain and lock on our priests...if a person wants to be a priest, and marry, they can join the eastern orthodox Catholics. However priests understand and voluntarily live a life giving up marriage. The bible does not say we can't give up or offer up our lives to God.
stevesilvia 1 year ago
@stevesilvia The Bible doesn't say priest can't married so why is this a hang up for the Vatican? Sincerely, I don't understand why the Vatican condemns that which is blessed by God. No, marriage won't solve all the problems of the R.C.C, but perhaps it could have stopped a lot of kids from being victimized
ncast54 1 year ago
@ncast54 Newsweek magazine reports in the April 12 issue, that "The idea of reducing marriage to an abuse-prevention program ought to be repulsive. Sexual abusers through out the world are overwhelmingly non- celibates."
stevesilvia 1 year ago
Priests and persons of authority are held in a higher standard and the commitment is following Jesus. The commitment demands a choice. Jesus wasted no time getting to the heart of commitment. Either the disciples would be committed to him and deny their desires. They would be determined to go their ways and deny him. The choice to commit is the same to celibate and non celibate believers-either deny ourselves or deny him, either go his way or pursue our way. Bottom line commit to spirit of JC

Sadder, still, is the damage that has been done as a result of the Catholic Churchs anti-biblical requirement.

catholic church teachings are demons Doctrines, in I Timothy 4:3, Forbidding to marry- the priest.
dy2dlb 2 years ago
I'm surprised at you. The problem with your interpretation of priests who cannot marry, is that some do, those in the Eastern Rite. It's a choice that men make before they become priests.
stevesilvia 2 years ago
sir its not an interpretation, i have a reference that the other priest married and the other want to get married but the Pope prohibit it.

Like I said, you should look it up first, than come back here to talk. The main point is that some men choose to be priests, knowing that they "left everything" to follow Jesus...

"CONCEIVING DELUSIONS, TAKING PHRASES OUT OF CONTEXT"
Do you mean like the one you just did with John's Revelation?
Rev 22. How is John speaking of the 27 books of the New Testament when ithe New testament as a whole had not been compiled when John wrote this?
Prove John was speaking of the 27 books of the New Testament and not of Revelation alone?
Who placed John's book at the end of the bible?
Oh thats right, the Catholic Church did it.
Was that infallible or fallible?
TheManGadoosh 2 years ago
Well, given that my comments have been removed, and that I cannot post responses under the previous channel, here goes.
Let's begin at the end: John's Revelation, the last book in the Bible, was written when John was about 93 years old. He, the LAST OF THE APOSTLES WHO KNEW CHRIST!! All others had been martyred!!
Thus, it is quite OBVIOUS, that there were no additions to be made once a book, with all its chapters is closed.
Compilation of the Scriptures had already begun in his time!
RainhadoCanto5 2 years ago
2 -
Too many were the "sources" arising for false doctrine, thus, the believers in the Church of Christ, Christendom, as it was called then, zealously had begun compiling the New Testament!!
RainhadoCanto5 2 years ago
The Cahtolic Church was not as much a figment in anyone's imagination"
"Wherever Jesus Christ is, the is the Catholic Church" Ignatius 107 A.D.
It was real.
""The Pope's Infalibility was not conceived until the last century or so""
"Would heretics dare to come to the very seat of Peter whence apostolic faith is derived and whither no errors can come" (Epistulae 59 (55), 14, [256 A.D.]
Fallible means to err. Here it says they can't, which means the Pope is infallible.
TheManGadoosh 2 years ago
The very LAST chapter in the Bible, Revelation 22 WARNS: 18 I warn everyone who hears the words of the prophecy of this book: If anyone adds anything to them, God will add to him the plagues described in this book. 19 And if anyone takes words away from this book of prophecy, God will take away from him his share in the tree of life and in the holy city, which are described in this book.
This the WORD OF GOD to which the Catholic Church PAYS NO HEED!!
It has added dogmas and PROSTITUTED IT!

For this reason the ordination of women is not possible.

min 1:48 YES,we DO NOT need 'priests',why bother with sinners posing as 'holy men' when we have the HIGH PRIEST(JESUS) that HAD FINISHED with the SACRIFICES...HE(JESUS) MADE the PERFECT Sacrifice almost 2000 yrs ago,so stop going to those sinners(RCC 'priests') that like to think themselves above the 'laity'(unbiblical term...don't forget it!)

pride?again,as i said before Paul, tells very plainly that in the ecclesiastic organization(the church...)there is NO mentions about an office for a 'priest'(elder/bishop and deacon..NO PRIEST !!!) as RCC teaches

Actually, the technical name for a "priest" is a presbyter. Presbyters have been around since the begining of the Church. "Priest" is more of a nick name.

are you aware of the 2 diff. Mark in 7th January 1546)
martalog121 3 years ago
You couldn't be farther from the truth. As a presbyter (priest) many of my "bosses" are lay people at the diocesan level. You need to do more research.

martalog121 3 years ago
I'm going to have to agree with xxFairestxx. When you go around saying stuff like "it's about the TRUTH" and that you only come to reveal the truth to us, you show an excruciating lack of Christ-like humility. It's not what you say, it's how you say it that makes you prideful.
farsight001 3 years ago

It's not an excuse. Your accusation that I'm providing an excuse is itself an excuse. It IS about the way you say it. If someone sits me down in charity and love, opens up the bible, and says "I really think the Catholic Church is mislead and I wanted to talk to you about that", then I would listen. If they come as you do and say "I come to spread the truth", I am reminded of the pharisees and their arrogance and I don't take it seriously. How you say something is absolutely crucial.
farsight001 3 years ago
instead of refuting my assertions, you and the other catholics(at least 2 others...i.e Steve and mapollo))complain about the way i 'said' them...and somehow i show "an excruciating lack of Christ-like humility"
martalog121 3 years ago
Of course we do. If we see a fellow Christian committing the sin of pride, we are going to call them out on it. I would expect the same in return.
As for the assertions - I did respond to some of them by pointing out that they were false or unmerited. Did you miss my post about the inquisitions and Vicarius Filii Dei and such? If you have other assertions, I haven't seen them because I just showed up.
Might I also suggest that it's better if you try to provide evidence for said assertions?
farsight001 3 years ago
"about the inquisitions and Vicarius Filii Dei " i don't remember making this one!
as for my evidence,to this particular channel(priests of RCC) to make it short(you can go back and read my replies) the Bible ,when it comes to 'ecclesiastical offices' the 'office' of priest as RCC defines one is absent...so this is my assertion...
martalog121 3 years ago
What is wrong with doing something that is not directly commanded by the bible?
farsight001 3 years ago
singing songs with 'priests',it's a bit unfair, don't you think?
your RCC called 'priests' claim "authority" that they(priests) never had !
"I think the apostles were the first priests",OK...whatdoes the Bible has to say about that?well there is no mention of the Greek word "hiereus"(priest) in the gospel passage that you speak of...so your assumption is false...
martalog121 3 years ago
Unfair?
Furthermore, priests used to be called presbyters, and that most certainly is in the bible.
farsight001 3 years ago
your so called 'priests' claim they(RCC claims) have authority over 'laity'(another unbiblical term...) the Bible has no idea of such 'authority' given to men that are not married...
"priest is not in the bible, but neither is the word trinity" again you're mixing apples with oranges..the word 'priest' is in the Bible but not as a 'ecclesiastical office'
"priests used to be called presbyters," again you chose to ignore the meaning of words...look up the word presbyter !!!and come back to reality
martalog121 3 years ago
You still didn't answer what's bad about having priests. Don't think I'm foolish enough not to see you avoiding giving a real answer by any means possible. Respond with less insults and condescension, and then MAYBE people will take you seriously.
farsight001 3 years ago
Eph. 5:19 "Speaking to yourselves in psalms and hymns and spiritual songs , singing and making melody in your heart to the Lord"..so your assumption about singing is false too! see Col. 3:16 also!
martalog121 3 years ago

StillWaterFilms 3 years ago
alright, and now the truth:
Anyone who choses to become a catholic priest has alredy failed to see the true message of Jesus and now he (priest) wants to educate me about Christianity!?! I see more than he does and I don't even wear that long black robe for the effect! what a marvel! What's a priest for agian? to lead me to Jesus becuase I can't see for myself the Way to Life? "No One Comes to the Father But By Me"! - not "by a priest"!
Johnatelllo 3 years ago
Anytime you call yourself a father, you are calling yourself GOD! House of blasphemer!
O will you catholics ever get that!
Johnatelllo 3 years ago
A priest makes a sacrifice of 'first fruits', himself. If you read your Bible you will find Paul saying:
"I do not write this to make you ashamed, but to admonish you as my beloved children. For though you have countless guides in Christ, you do not have many fathers. For I became your father in Christ Jesus through the gospel" (1 Cor. 4:14-15). Is Paul a blasphemer? No.
A priest becomes our father in Christ through the Gospel.

hey Mapollo,
how you been old buddy old pal...:)
-------------------------
that's a good question?-Is Paul a blasphemer? Or anyone else for that matter who calls any man on earth his "father". Or,does one blasphem when he labels the man he came thru his father, especialy in the light of those inspired writters of the bible using "father" in the same prevalent manner?
Johnatelllo 3 years ago
of course they do blaspheme! what do you make of an inspired writer who contradicts Jesus? a fallible inspired writter! But if you wanna follow what Paul, NOT Jesus, commends, then you are follower of Paul. ur choice
"do not call any man your father, nor your master nor your lord" so u telling me, this should be taken metaphoricaly?
Johnatelllo 3 years ago
Johnatelllo, we are just following the bible. I am guessing you have no preachers, ministers, and no bible study teachers?
stevesilvia 3 years ago
Dude, I am a product of over 20 years of catholic indoctrination. Isn't all that enough to get me to hell already?
Johnatelllo 3 years ago
"Dude, I am a product of over 20 years of catholic"
Clearly you are need of remedial classes. You would have learned that the Bible does not contradict itself. Thus Paul and Jesus is correct.
It is you who lacks understanding.
mapollo 3 years ago
If both Paul and Jesus r correct in this case, then why does One of them says: don't do X, and the other one does something that he himself labels X?
Again, is either one of them to be taken metaphoricaly here? as I don't see any other way you can reconcile this unless u ascribe different meanings to the Jesus' & Paul's word 'father'?

A sock account.
mapollo 3 years ago
Although Jesus seems to prohibit the term "teacher," in Matthew 28:19--20, Christ himself appointed certain men to be teachers in his Church: "Go therefore and make disciples of all nations . . . teaching them to observe all that I have commanded you." Paul speaks of his commission as a teacher: "For this I was appointed a preacher and apostle . . . a teacher of the Gentiles in faith and truth" (1 Tim. 2:7); "For this gospel I was appointed a preacher and apostle and teacher" (2 Tim. 1:11).
mapollo 3 years ago
He also reminds us that the Church has an office of teacher: "God has appointed in the church first apostles, second prophets, third teachers" (1 Cor. 12:28); and "his gifts were that some should be apostles, some prophets, some evangelists, some pastors and teachers" (Eph. 4:11). There is no doubt that Paul was not violating Christ's teaching in Matthew 23 by referring so often to others as "teachers." And such is the case in 1 Cor. 4:14-15.
mapollo 3 years ago
Jesus criticized Jewish leaders who love "the place of honor at feasts and the best seats in the synagogues, and salutations in the market places, and being called 'rabbi' by men" (Matt. 23:6--7). His admonition here is a response to the Pharisees' proud hearts and their grasping after marks of status and prestige.
mapollo 3 years ago
He was using hyperbole (exaggeration to make a point) to show the scribes and Pharisees how sinful and proud they were for not looking humbly to God as the source of all authority and fatherhood and teaching, and instead setting themselves up as the ultimate authorities, father figures, and teachers.
mapollo 3 years ago
Thus Jesus is not forbidding the use of honorifics nor forbidding us to recognize that the person does have a role as a spiritual father and teacher. The example of his own apostles shows us that.
mapollo 3 years ago

O Saint Joseph, assist me by your powerful intercession and obtain for me from your Divine Son all spiritual blessings through Jesus Christ, Our Lord;

They deserve thanks (if not answering a call to some work to mislead)
fool1shmortal 3 years ago
I'm saying I understand the reason 4 pastoral judgments that might seem prudent, but uncomfortable, but some judgments like liturgical abuse N the name of keeping people around or being schismatic 2 avoid liturgical abuse just can't be allowed. The SSPX kinds were rightly excommunicated, but 1s abusing the liturgy were&R freely abusing. As our priest said, these abuses reenact (or recreate?) original sin&affect the well-being of the world. 2 warn is good, but then, P. Pius X time-no hate needed
fool1shmortal 3 years ago
People think this action is hateful, somehow. Was Giulliani hateful when he cleaned up NY? Criminals were hurting others. Liturgical abuse was hurting far more than the parishoners where it happened&more than the victims of NY crime as souls were at stake in the former case. Still, even radical 1s who at least say "I absolve you" save a penitent soul from hell (ironically, except maybe at death, schismatic ones may be the exact opposite case), though would they have penitent?-thus,antihero.
fool1shmortal 3 years ago
either or, to follow God could most certainly destroy a man. to bear his name could lead to isolation and solitude. i just so much as mention God and people hate, what relations you do have and they crumble instantly, i am constantly plagued by jealousy and so much other sin. after my personal heresy and blaspheme, much like judas i constantly think about death. i wish i would die. i am 23 years old and @ a lost of purpose and sense of life.
supersayn53 3 years ago
I'm talking about ones who break away thinking they can do better [though the hierarchy could do better so these groups do not break away out of righteous indignation (though horribly wrong reasoning)]. The SSPXers run a tighter ship at Mass and offer many sacramentals, but can lose it out of dangerous levels of anger. Lib. theologists might refuse to say "I absolve you". Ones like the SSPX may not even have the jurisdiction to do so. I believe every priest has like-minded confrers.
fool1shmortal 3 years ago
The parents w/ money do spoil their kids N East Asia&so they don't have the character they need later 2 handle stress, I think. I feel defeated. Thus, I feel I'm a failure there. Of course, I'm not trained nor am I leading souls, but then I don't have a Satanic bullseye on my head either.
W/o priests, we could have the sacraments, as it 1st began, but bishops R harder 2 get 4 sacraments. As a scrupulous 1, priests R still my heros 4 absolving me; lib-theology&SSPX 1s R kinda"anti-heroes".
fool1shmortal 3 years ago
what are you going on about what is "lib theology & sspx?" in my natural state, i bet im prolly anti hero too. in fact. im almost even super villian. i dnt know mang some places infrequently plague liturgical celebrations in one ecclesial environment or another. In some places the perpetration of liturgical abuses has become almost habitual. i tell you. any true man of cloth, or priest or man for God or Godly man or any for the good are all heros. truely be dedicated and give there's to God.
supersayn53 3 years ago
priest are special. but only the true ones. to claim that you are priest, and not pull through.that will be to your own death. you cannot say i am priest and then succumb to evil no. the people will say "you are evil" instead, if you are a priest you will say mine is to God and mean it.if you are a priest, you will set an example for the world. you cannot compromise otherwise.
supersayn53 3 years ago
I'm torn, as liturgical abusers should be dealt with by bishops so as not to lead the flock astray, I, not having teacher training or experience, answered the call to teach English in S. Korea&I realize the errors we make in America&I realize how too lenient I am in trying 2 work with everyone w/ prudence&failing at telling it how it is so I end up trying 2 keep students not threatened w/ punishments as parents might pull their precious angel out. 1 never came back after I escorted him out.
fool1shmortal 3 years ago
Yes, priests are special. They are the shepherds to guide and lead the children of God to the "promised" land, the heavenly Jerusalem. Indeed they are the fishers of men.

The Christian faithful, for their part, should realize their obligations to their priests, and with filial love they should follow them as their pastors and fathers. In like manner, sharing their cares, they should help their priests by prayer and work insofar as possible so that their priests might more readily overcome difficulties and be able to fulfill their duties more fruitfully.
ignatiusofantioch2 3 years ago
Priests have been placed in the midst of the laity to lead them to the unity of charity, "loving one another with fraternal love, eager to give one another precedence" (Rom 12:10). It is their task, therefore, to reconcile differences of mentality in such a way that no one need feel himself a stranger in the community of the faithful. They are defenders of the common good, with which they are charged in the name of the bishop.
ignatiusofantioch2 3 years ago
Priests, never losing sight of the fullness of the priesthood which the bishops enjoy, must respect in them the authority of Christ, the Supreme Shepherd. They must therefore stand by their bishops in sincere charity and obedience. This priestly obedience, imbued with a spirit of cooperation is based on the very sharing in the episcopal ministry which is conferred on priests both through the Sacrament of Orders and the canonical mission.
ignatiusofantioch2 3 years ago
Priests are made in the likeness of Christ the Priest by the Sacrament of Orders, so that they may, in collaboration with their bishops, work for the building up and care of the Church which is the whole Body of Christ, acting as ministers of him who is the Head.

Priests are not just representing our Lord Jesus Christ, but they are the extension or the ambassadors of our Lord Jesus Christ..

Through the same Christ Our Lord.

Why don't they marry? You would have more priests if you allowed them to marry! :)
JelenaSRB87 3 years ago
the Church knows what She is doing jelena... with the awesome responsibility of a priest as spiritual father of a parish, he does not need the distraction of dealing with a family also
however, just so you know, there are married priests in the Church ... just not very many... last i heard , we have 6 in our archdiocese

If they are ordained prists can not get married.
If they are married they can be priests.
Am I right on this?

it was said in the bible; be warned inhabitants of the earth, for the dragon was hurled down and he is furious, for he has only been given a short period of time. therefor... it is better to keep faith. the devil will throw his fiery arrows at you and you would not be struck down. faith would be your shield, tho sometimes God leaves, to test the full extent of your heart. i would hope that you past the test brother. not everyone will make it.

you are right, but married priests are few and far between in the Church... if you were a priest in another liturgical community, like the Anglicans, that allowed marriage, and then you decided to convert to our faith, then you MIGHT be allowed to be ordained as a Catholic priest

13mns 3 years ago
and there is a very good reason that the sacrament of Holy Orders exists as it does 13mns ... obedience to Church teaching takes precedence over individual desires ... thankfully the Church has a better understanding than you ... if the young men were indeed following the Holy Spirit and were called to be priests, then they would certainly accept the way the Church has determined the priesthood will be
thank you steve for ANOTHER excellent video
faithful827 3 years ago 2
Steve: no where in the scriptures can we find any prescription for Holy Orders in its current form. In fact we find the opposite eg married priests & bishops in-Paul's letter to Timothy or female priests in the Early House Churches. eg. Priscillia, Thekla and Junia in Acts. The Holy Spirit keeps trying to lead the church in the direction of reform, & the Vatican keeps fighting it. Christ won't put one roadblock after another up to ministry. Let's follow the Master. Abolish meaningless tradition!
13mns 3 years ago
13mns, I suggest you reread your bible.
stevesilvia 3 years ago
I respectfully disagree. Please read IN SEARCH OF PAUL by John Domonic Crossan and Jonathan L Reed. Another good book is Paul on Community, the Early House Church.
13mns 3 years ago
well this kinda says it all doesn't it... the heretical views of JD Crossan and his Jesus seminar are well known
faithful827 3 years ago
obedience to authority is a beautiful thing 13mns... it is not the Holy Spirit trying the lead the Church to reform , it is people like you who have been infected with the SPIRIT of Vatican II and want to have things the way THEY think they should be .... thankfully a healthy dose of orthodoxy is sweeping the Church and maybe we can sweep that self-serving "spirit" out of the picture as a consequence
faithful827 3 years ago
Orthodoxy is adherance to tradition, much of it incorrect. Orthodoxy focuses on human leaders and man made rules. Christ condemned the pharisees for this. Reform Catholicism focuses on Christ and the person of God. The Holy Spirit makes all things new. Thus a return to old rites and obsolete ritual cannot be the will of God for modern times. Blind obdiance to human authority is called cult worship. Obediance to God is called true spirituality.
13mns 3 years ago
so i guess we need to actually establish something ... are you Catholic? cuz you sound like one of those dissident VOTF people to me

Why on earth pray for changes. 13mns?

I think loss of congregation, sex scandals a lack of priests, and inflexible teachings from the papacy are all indicative of a need for wholesale reform. V2 started the process and the conservatives have tried to derail it for 40 years.
