now that hes a bit older his act seems to carry more authority. something about being younger makes him look a bit smugger or something :P. looks like Preston of preston and chantelle lol
Even 20 years ago his cuntishness was shining through. It was quite clear that this lad was going to go on to be one of our finest cunts and by jove, he didn't disappoint.
So pretty. Funny and that, love him, seen him a bunch of times and yes - sometimes the audience don't get him. On the whole, I laugh my ass off though.
@antmartainexperience come on admit it , hes very smart, articulate, even , dare I say it , vaguely amusing at times . But this it not enough!!! know what i mean?
@davetay I agree that his 90's material doesn't top 'vaguely amusing' for me, I guess it was more 'important' at the time but obviously looking at it now it doesn't have the same affect on me that it might've had on audiences back then but I think his 2007 onwards DVDs are outstanding. Admittedly they're a total niche thing, they're not for everybody, but personally they are some of my fave recordings of comedy standup sets.
@RanpatMcMurphy I saw him last week and it's clear to see he has stuck to his guns, he still uses exactly the same techniques, hit and miss but when he hits he hits very well!
He actually uses this piece at Pestival but replaces the "punchline" - if you want to call it that - with one tailored for the entymologists. It's interesting to see how much calmer and more paced his delivery is given many years more experience. Search for Pestival Stewart Lee. I think this sketch is pretty damn good, especially for someone as young as he was. Also don't forget that comedic trends change over time.
@davyjames It was all part of the well thought out plan for global domination. When I say global domination, I of course mention regional indifference.
@foxrenard Wow it really is. Right down to the speech patterns. I've never seen archive footage of Stewart Lee that was this old. It's quite something.
He is gorgeous.

i can see what some people mean about how his act back then carries less "authority" but it's still remarkable standup from someone so young.

Funny to see that he had most of the routine he did at pestival worked out all these years ago.
