  • For someone who "could never fight" he landed quite a bit before Tamura finished him.

  • I swear in Pancrase funaki used to look about 6 ft tall now all of a sudden he looks like a midget WTF

  • @quezzie13 Its the angle of the fights in Pancrase. The angle was from a lower point making the fighters look bigger.

  • tamura good funaki better. funaki just old. prime funaki win

  • @Minowaman1 funaki could never fight, pancrase when he was in it were mostly grappling matches due to no head punches being allowed

  • @billysue2 hand strikes to the head were allowed, they were just open palm strikes instead of close fisted. Bare knuckle rule to prevent injury. Close fisted strikes could only be targeted at the body and not the head. It was a small, convenient conversion to make from pancrase to "modern mma". Funaki's good all around, I have no idea what youre talking about. He's just got ridiculous grappling and sub skills. lolol Minowaman's right, Funaki's past his prime. OMG GENKI SUDO IS COMMENTATING!

  • @CommanderYuan Also, a popular misconception is that ground and pound to the face was barred in Pancrase. Most fighters simply opted not to utilize it because they considered it unsporting and thought it might give the public a poor perception of their sport.

  • @CommanderYuan the lack of head punches totally changes fights because open palm arent nearly as effective in combination and too easily defended. He looked good in pancrase because everyone else had crap grappling.Look at how alan goes owned frank shamrock and how frank was almost at funakis level.Pancrase existed in parallel with mma ,it wasnt a forerunner.

  • @scarred10 if you actually fight, you'd notice that a palm strike prevents hand injuries when attacking the head, and is at times even more effective than a close fisted strike. You're still able to pack just as much power. Funaki was a genius at grappling, he was past his prime. Though looking back at it, GnP wasnt something he was very exposed to with his history in Pancrase. True, it wasn't a forerunner. It was a different "sport".

  • @billysue2 what a ridiculous comment

  • parece mentira que solo se lleven 1 año...Tamura parece mucho mas joven que Funaki..

    funaki parece mas viejo
