i dont know if you've heard any of these guys else where, in this group or otherwise, but i think you've been very unfair. Dave Liebman has such a vast body of work its like analysing 20 saxaphone players. Check them out because they are serious players.

'Boring' is fine because thats nice and subjective. 'Amaturish'?! Not just lieb but the whole band is seriously killing. If these guys are 'amatuerish' then so are all the cats you listed.Finally the 'music is a worthy cause' rant, seriously get over yourself, none of these guys are devoid of craft and all follow the artistic principle unashamedly. Its not having our opinion challenged, its simply dealing with ignorance and arragance. You dont have to like it just dont denounce its value.

Dave Liebman is an inspiration. He studied the music of everyone you listed for decades, and now is playing the music he feels he can express himself through.

Have some respect for the masters. I'd love to hear you try to play some music.
