@joey1991k you try playing that on quads in a line and keep it clean. It's harder to play in a line because if ou fuck up and it doesnt look like a split or it doesnt flow, everyone notices. Besides, these guys have probably been playing since the first time they heard drums
jeez. have any of the haters commenting heard of a drum cheer? they're supposed to be entertaining whether its hard or not. so stop getting pissed off because they're not playing any challenging licks.
Yo, I didn't say ANYTHING about entertainment? Given, it does entertain, I'm just saying that there are plenty other college lines out there that are WAY better players than these guys from a drumming standpoint.
The whole purpose of this drumline is entertainment to the everday fans. Of course they aren't playing at the difficulty level of DCI/ WGI because they don't play for that type of crowd. Only people involved in music even know what DCI is. For the everyday college kid going to the football game, the USC drumline is perfect; they have catchy beats, awesome visuals, and they enjoy playing and draw the fans in. They couldn't do their job any better.
Maaaaaan come on; this is supposed to be one of the top colleges in the nation and these cats playing some straight up high school level licks especially once they hit the 4minute mark. Hey their football team is bananas though, haha; them cats could run with some pro teams for real.
This isn't a cadence or other drumline showpiece, it's something they play with the rest of the band. It sounds good with the other music, whereas DCI strikes me more as being difficult for the sake of being difficult, rather than being musically entertaining to the general populous.
but DCI isn't supposed to be entertaining to the general populace lol it's supposed to be entertaining to people who know something about marching ensembles. And a lot of the DCI drumline licks are pretty entertaining no matter how much you know about drumming IMO. . . BD 2008! lol
USC just plays entertaining stuff. But those Quads players do have some skills. Even the USC haters have to admit that was tight. Snares are always sloppy though.
you guys absolutely blow nuts. lets see, a bunch of 16th notes, some diddles, maybe even a paradiddle? On top of it all you can't even play that cleanly? Come to PSU if you want to be on a drumline. I guess I'm being too hard on you guys, what else should I expect from the University of Spoiled Children. Suck Dick USC!
that's why USC is all over the net..and..where did you go...oh..yeah..no wait.....P something?....wasn't that the drumline that recorded with Fleetwood Mac? had a movie made about it? oops..MY BAD..that was USC.
blow your own nuts dude. USC is the best drumline in the nation. sorry you didn't pass the audition.
alright lets clarify some stuff. First, USC sits right next to hollywood, if there were another school that were as big as USC and closer to hollywood, they would have been chosen for all that. Second, im in a fuckin drumline, i know how to play, and i know what it being played in this video, and for how easy it is, the drumline plays it dirty, its very obvious. You guys really dont play hard stuff. And im pretty sure fleetwoodmac doesnt know shit about drumlines, he just wanted good dancers.
ok..while we are clarifying..Fleetwood Mac probably didn't (notice the PAST tense) know shit about drummers....but they did (notice the THEY...it's a rock band, deary....Mick Fleetwood is only one member) choose USC....and that whole Tusk, double platinum record thing was back in the 70's. I agree, the quints are a bit sloppy in some spots, but the snares are spot on and tight.
What makes USC so great? They are innovative. Bartner was breaking rules back in the 70's. The band was playing things that no one had the balls to play before them. Even before Tusk. That's why they got invited to play with rock stars. They still do. If you want precision...watch TBDBITL.....I've seen them...great technicians.... and they are a fucking snore.
And I guess if all they wanted was good dancers, they would have never involved the ENTIRE band in the first place.....and continue to do so. You don't see the "dancers" on stage with the band. (thank fucking god)
I must agree with the first statement. USC is possibly the most over rated drumline in the nation. They decent but really have no true skill. Try and compete with any drumline from the Big Ten. You would get your shit handed to you. and as for this little Penn State USC rivalry you guys have going on.... Which line actually marches WGI and has won??? Yeah... that's what I thought. GO SUCK DICK USC!!!!
Don't worry bro I got your back. Usc drumline sucks balls and anyone who actually knows a lot about marching percussion will agree. Even in the world of crap college drumlines groups like Michigan own USC
The USC haters always for that cheap shot "University of Spoiled Children". Next time think before you type. Don't be naive & think there isn't any spoiled children at PSU (which I happen to like). And your "suck..." was low of you. An excellent band is not overrated. The USC drumbline can play cleanly. You obviously choose to ignore that fact or haven't listened/watched other performances. Other bands will encounter moments of not playing cleanly at times.
ok what im seening is a lack of writing... ether this is all the band can play or its what simply fits. any one can play 16th notes clean and anybody can play 16th notes dirty. its college if this was a dci/wgi line i wouldnt take them seriously at all. but whatever dude
im in the drumline for andrew jackson middle...we have two quints..5 snares and 5 basses.the best middle school in west virginia..dont beleve me..challeng us...i play snare...bitches
